Can anyone tell me which engine oil for RWD Diesel ? I have done 5 k kms and thinking of getting an oil change , just need the specs 15/40 or something else .

Always got mineral oil for my duster and never synthetic let me know good people of TBHP
The quote i received was for Petrol Automatic.
Probably the differences in engine and cost makes the difference.
When i was checking for insurance, online portals and some providers did not have the RWD in their vehicle listing yet.

Re: Mahindra Thar 1.5L RWD Review

Any insider news on the launch of 5 door Thar?

I have a booking for 4x2 RWD and have a strong feel that just like 4x4 lost its charm after launch of more city friendly practical 4x2 varient, if 5 door is launched in 4x2 avatar then the current 3 door version will loose its charm and resale value both.

Opinions are welcome from fellow members.

As per gaadiwaadi.com, Mahindra might debut / unveil the 5-door version of Thar on August 15th.

I beg to differ there are many like me who like the 2 door version and I feel the 5 door will not have the same aesthetics and might look like an Armada of the 90s.

The current car has perfect proportions and is a good city car because of the small foot print unless the longer wheelbase makes it a much better ride the 2 door version will stay and sell in good numbers.

As for 4x2 had it been launched along side 4x4 it would have seen much higher numbers by now as people like me would have bought it when it was launched.

1 Lac cars have been sold and Thars are everywhere after 4x2 launch.

5 door version will have competition from its own siblings like Scorpio and XUV and since they are offering more features and comfort people will then have the Tata , Hyundai, MG and Kia 5 doors in all price segments

The market will be the ultimate judge and I may be wrong but my feeling is 2 door buyers are buying it for the classy jeep looks everything else is secondary

Couldn't the film director notice the tilted number plate and rectify it? Wouldn't have taken more than 2 minutes.

Re: Mahindra Thar 1.5L RWD Review

Don't understand what is happening with Thar RWD delivery. My friend who had booked on January 10th from a dealership in Kochi was informed on 22nd April that his Vehicle is ready at the factory to be billed, but till today the dealership has no idea, when the vehicle will be billed. Why does Mahindra hold the billing of a vehicle for 1 month, which is ready. Any clue, if this is a game being played by the dealer. The dealer already shared the vehicle details(Engine number/Chassis number) with him.

Re: Mahindra Thar 1.5L RWD Review

My RWD DIESEL Thar is 40 days and 2500 kms old. I love mostly everything about the vehicle but i found the headlamps very bad. Si I upgraded to Maxxlinx bulbs. The bulb for the headlight is 150 watts and throws light at 4300 kelvin. Warm white light which works beautiful. The pair costs 7800 for the pair with a 2 year warranty. I changed the foglamp bulbs too with 110 watts bulbs of the same make. They cost 6200 with a 1 year warranty. Same warm white light which works effectively. I am a little old school and don't like the white light types. These are more to my liking. I have attached a few pictures.
The lights were done up at an accessories dealer called Car Pluz in Erode. I am also getting an audio upgrade, seat cover instal, films all around strictly for thermoregulation and finally suspension modifications. @shankar.balan linked me up with Arka bangalore. Rest of the upgrades will be done this week, whilst, suspension is being planned for 4 th week of May as I have to take the vehicle to Bengaluru and i am little tied up with my surgical cases till then. I shall post the upgrades in this thread.

Does that required any additional hardware change or upgrade ? . I am also planning to upgrade the bulbs for my Thar RWD head lights . But was curious about, if that additional wattage have any impact on warranty

Re: Mahindra Thar 1.5L RWD Review

Absolutely nothing. There is a ballast built in for the additional required power. It is total plug and play. No changes required at all. Nothing to affect warranty

I see that you're based out of Erode. Arka's based out of Coimbatore - in case you think you'll be able to visit Coimbatore for half a day, that may work better.

It would be much easier if it was coimbatore. I emailed them in full detail asking about installation. They just sent me a product catalog and no details. That is when I messaged @shankar.balan.
Thanks anyway. I am seeing if I can get a phone number of anyone in Arka Coimbatore.
