If you check the fuse box, its rated for 10A I think. Your load must be under 10*12 = 120watts and 10a.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Correcting off-centred steering wheel:

Many owners have complained that the steering wheel of the Jimny remains off-centre while driving straight. In fact, this issue has been observed in brand-new vehicles.

To overcome this problem, many have had the steering angle sensor reset and the drag links adjusted. However, sometimes the issue remains unresolved, and the vehicle may even start pulling to one side.

To correct an off-centre steering wheel on the Jimny, I opted for a simplified method:

repositioning the steering wheel directly at the steering column. Of course this adjustment should only be made if the vehicle’s alignment is otherwise properly set.

Procedure:

* Disconnect the negative terminal of the vehicle's battery. This is a critical safety step when working with airbags.
* Remove Airbag Assembly:
* Locate the two spring locks on the inner sides and one spring lock below the steering wheel through holes.
* insert a small screwdriver or hex in the hole & gently press each lock to release the steering airbag assembly. See picture.
* Once the airbag is loose, carefully disconnect the yellow airbag cable by lifting its plastic lock.
* Next, disconnect the black cable by pressing its small metal lock.
* Carefully keep the airbag assembly aside, facing upwards.
* Remove Steering Wheel:
* Unscrew the lock nut located on the steering column. Do not unscrew completely. Since the steering wheel is tightly fitted on the column, pull it from one side & then from the opposite side. Repeat this till the wheel gets free. Thereafter unscrew the nut completely. Mark the original position of wheel on the column with a marker as a reference.
* Next pull the steering wheel from the steering column.
* Refit the steering wheel by re-aligning the grooves on the wheel with the splines on the steering column. This can be done by turning the steering wheel clockwise or counterclockwise, as needed, to achieve a straight position. In most cases, shifting by a single spline is sufficient to bring the steering wheel in straight line.

* Initial Alignment Check:
* Reinstall the lock nut on the steering column (do not fully tighten it).
* Reconnect the vehicle's battery.
* Drive the vehicle briefly to assess if the steering wheel is now straight while driving in a straight line. If not, repeat the above step to readjust the steering wheel alignment as necessary.

* Once satisfied with the alignment, disconnect the battery again.
* Fully tighten the central steering nut on the steering column. Advised to tighten to a torque of 33 Nm using a torque wrench.
* Reconnect the yellow airbag cable, ensuring the plastic lock is pressed down firmly.
* Reconnect the black cable.
* Carefully refit the airbag assembly into its housing until it clicks securely into place.
* Finally, reconnect the negative battery terminal.
This method effectively centres the steering wheel without the need for reset of steering angle sensor and adjustment of drag links.

Safety Note: Ensure the battery remains disconnected throughout the entire process of removing and reinstalling the airbag assembly.
This work should only be done by someone who has the technical ability.

As the procedure describes, this method can lead to side-pulling even if the steering wheel is perfectly on centre. An ex-factory vehicle comes with no mismatch in centering the wheel with the splines of the column from the assembly line. Off-centre steering wheel is often caused by some deviation in the one or more parameters of multi-link suspension.

Well I have done on my new vehicle. No side pulling at all. I am sharing my experience & I carried out this myself.

IMHO side pulling will happen only when wheel alignment is altered. Here it is not touched.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Did a impromptu trip to 'Kere Thonnur' near Pandavapura while going to Mysore. Had fun taking revvs to 6k RPM for short bursts to hear the engine and snorkle growl to glory on winding village roads (empty stretches).

Jimny is clocking less milage due to Old horse Vitara doing highway runs. 12.5k kms in 17 months. FE hovers at 11+ kmpl when I drive and 15+ kmpl when wifey drives .

Hi, did you book the jimny ?

I have booked 10 days ago and still waiting for vehicle allocation, even proper test drive vehicle was not available. The test drive vehicle which they had seems to have steering column issue and when fully locked in either side the vehicle will not move further.

On Jun 9 will get further updates regarding the vehicle allotment, I am in a metro city and situation is like this so what about other places, getting a doubt whether these people are artificially trying to increase the demand

Few of the dealers in Noida recently mentioned me that they have no stock and vehicle will have 1-2 month waiting duration after booking as company is manufacturing only on booking basis.

My assumption their assembly line are more focused on export Jimny.

Hi Thyag

Not booked yet as the quote given to me is approximately 16.6 lakhs. I feel the vehicle is not worth at this price point.

Jimmy, if I am not wrong, is made to order basis. Means production for local market is as per order placed at dealerships. That could be the cause of the delay. I was also told that it would take approximately 20 days for vehicle delivery.

What is the quote that you received? Any discounts?

Hi theunstabledesi,

As mentioned earlier we have got a quote of 18.34 lakhs and getting a discount of 1.5 lakhs approximately, we are going through leasing so when the allotment is done only we can start the process. I will try to get more discounts and also will remove unwanted things from the quote once the process starts.

I am fixed on getting the Jimny as I feel it will be the best vehicle for my better half to start driving.

Tried C3, awesome package (engine, handling, comfort, etc) but only problem being the transmission option as we wanted automatic transmission with NA engine.

I am not used to begging, so stopped calling mahindra people for Thar ROXX test drive. We visited them once due to better half's insistence only, there was no Test drive vehicle available with them and they didn't even call back, they are so busy as explained by the staff due to the waiting period of 48 weeks (wifey came out of showroom and told me "these guys are putting unnecessary scene )

Maruti guys were pulling us towards Fronx and Vitara but we didn't budge. Hope so we receive jimny by this month end.

Hi tyag

All the very best to you ”Jimny in waiting”. I thoroughly enjoyed driving it, contrary to popular opinion. Must thanks the bhpians here who made me lean towards the vehicle. I am trying to bargain a little more. Let’s see what happens.

Had similar experience with Mahindra. Dealerships were not so forthcoming. Finally could manage a test drive. But it was limited to 5km. Plus the SA did not look very keen on selling it. Add to it the long waiting periods and roxx was immediately dropped from the list. Don’t want to follow the crowd

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Going by all the inputs and feedback here.I should be happy that I got a first batch perfectly manufactured Jimny with no defects whatsoever.

-The propeller shaft isn’t touching, and no ring mark is seen on it.

-The steering is perfectly aligned while driving straight

-Power sockets are working perfectly well.

- Tyres have been in heavy slush, gravel, deep waters and everything one can imagine. Pretty amazed I didn’t need any external assistance to pull myself out of those situations. (I’m running on stock tyres)

- The “The Thud” on breakers from the rear - The gypsy also had it. Frankly, I’m just used to it and it doesn’t bother me at all. Also I keep my Tyre pressure at 27PSI.

The Jimny has ticked all boxes, being the cheapest 4x4 in INDIA with all essentials. It looks small from the outside, but the Japanese have done an incredible job of accommodating fully grown 4 adults comfortably.

Every time I get into the Jimny, I’m just so flattered by the plushness of the drive ( having owned a gypsy before and driven 70k plus).it also has one of the best suspension setup in its class or I dare say in the market in comparisons with higher segments.

In my opinion, a stock Jimmy without any Mods is the most enjoyable. Salute to all the engineers who have created this “LITTLE MASTER”.

Happy Driving

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

300+ km day drive with 25 Jimnys!

Last weekend we went for a 300+ km drive in 25 Jimnys for a trail drive after Burdwan. It was through scenic village roads. Engaging 4x4 was not the requirement for the day, though there was a bit of slush, which the Jimnys handled well in 2WD itself. Thanks to Mr.Anirban Mukherjee, aka Babul da, for the route planning.

5 of us with the walkie-talkies were in charge of managing the whole convoy.

But when 25 Jimnys come together and ace rallyist Mr. Anirban Mukherjee, or an ace off-roader like Mr. Hero Sen, is part of the leading team, then how can they miss the chance to let the team engage the 2nd gear lever! So yes, that part was also ticked off!

Bhpian Sadnabrina was part of the organizing team, but sadly, he was out of station, so he couldn't join the drive.

Mr.Sandip Mukherjee was our event manager! If he takes charge of a meet, he will ensure everything falls in place, right from food to destination, to the number of participants, to the convoy discipline. And yet again, he excelled!

My job was to be the sweeper car and ensure no one is left out of the convoy, & click pics of the meet!

The convoy of 25 Jimnys. In this video, there are 24 Jimnys, as one car joined us later.

A small video of the trail. Though my wife (Bhpian DogNDamsel12) had the option to drive by avoiding the slush, she still had to go over the slush as she was driving the Jimny!

Colors on the roll!

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

During last highway drive noticed steering wheel wobbles under hard braking. Most likely the known kingpin assembly issue. New Nexa service center has opened up and plan to get it checked.

Car is inching close to 15K KMs . Other than test drive, is there anything else that I need to update service advisor to replace kingpin assembly ?

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

It started 2 year ago. I was impatiently waiting for Jimny to be launched and the pricing. It was a total downer, after got to know the initial pricing.
As usual, my middle class dream shattered again. I was blaming my finances and in a way midlife crisis popping again and again.

Maruti Jimny Review-pdi.jpg

To add more to the scene, my current possession Xuv500 AWD AT started demanding more maintenance and I don't want to continue this trend. I spend the required amount to get her back on the road
and sold in respectable condition so that the next owner should not suffer and curse me.

Maruti Jimny Review-finalbye.jpg

After that I kept on reading the thread's updates about delivery, tyre-upgrade, must have accessories, first trip, first servicing and how happy they were. Like an alter ego, I had alter-satisfaction-when-Jimmy-owners-happy moments.

Fast-forward to next year March 2024, last year model discounts started to offer high, dealers entertaining price slashes and demands from customers, I could see that FOMO moment and brought home white alpha AT.

Maruti Jimny Review-welcomehome.jpg

Maruti Jimny Review-besidesoffice.jpg

Since then, living in a dream every day and growing with Jimny.
No accurate feedback from the steering-No Problem.
High turning radius-No problem.
No diesel, No monstrous torque-No problem.
Not enough storage-No problem.
4-Speed AT-No problem.
Fuel efficiency-No problem.
After all, it's Jimny-No problem.
(like Suzuki Samurai-No problem)

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Hello guys, my JIMNY Alpha AT was delivered on June 9th. As discussed earlier, there wasn’t much in terms of discounts , just the usual ₹1.2 lakh reduction. Looking forward to a hassle-free ownership experience.

I've already added quite a few accessories within the first week:
  1. Tyres upgraded to Yokohama 215/75/R15
  2. Installed various internal storage accessories
  3. Replaced tail lights with a fancier design
  4. Got PPF done at Ultimate Detailerz
I've also acquired a roof carrier and ladder, but I’ll be installing them a bit later.
