800 KM Round Trip to Horanadu on my Seltos DCT Imperial Blue

So, I recently took my 2 month old Kia Seltos DCT for a spin on a long road trip. We decided to check out Kalasa, a cool little town close to Horanadu, for a two-day getaway and also visit to Annapoorneshwari Temple.





Now, I've been driving a manual transmission car for the past seven years, so the automatic transmission in the Seltos was a relaxed drive. I mostly used normal mode except a few times drove the sport mode. The lane keep assist system was useful on Hassan highway.

For the trip, we took the Bengaluru-Hassan-Belur-Mudigere-Kalsa route on the way there and the Sakleshpur road on the way back. The newly opened Sakleshpur-Hassan highway was way better than going through Belur.

I also kept an eye on the fuel efficiency. On the highway, the Seltos gave me 14kmpl. But when we hit the winding ghat sections leading up to Kalasa, the mileage dropped a bit to 10-11 kmpl. That's understandable, though, since the roads are narrow and I had to drive slow. Never felt any lag with the transmission and DCT worked like a charm.

Overall, it was a fantastic trip. The Seltos DCT performed admirably on the long drive, and we had a wonderful time exploring Kalasa and Horanadu.

So this happened just now while I took the car out for a spin. I have no idea how this is happening but does anyone have any idea or experience with such a fault before? I have scheduled a visit for tomorrow. Lets see what Kia has to say about this.



Since this error, I am also not able to check any other parameters on the MID. The MID is stuck and this warning is not going away. I have a Seltos X-line Nov-23 Diesel done just shy of 15k kms.

Did you check the urea solution level, or did the display show a 'Low urea' warning light earlier?

If it was not refilled even after the warning was displayed for a certain period of time, the visual warning will increase it's intensity along with the warning light. If the urea level is not low and the message still appears, you will need to visit an authorized service center.

First thought that the DPF is clogged but after referring to the owner's manual, it appears that your DEF tank is nearly empty.

The car was just serviced at 10k kms in Apr-24 where I had categorically mentioned to top-up the DEF. It was at 100% post service and just a little below the full mark at near about 14.2k kms. I am not able to toggle between the different views of the MID due to this error and hence cannot ascertain the Urea level right now from the indicator. The car was stationary for 2 days and there is no leakage or puddles found at the parking. Prior to this, it was a highway run of nearly 600 kms. So I dont think DPF is clogged too. That is why this all seems troubling. My XUV700 which is at 33k kms in 11 months hasn't shown any error yet but I had got a false check engine light at nearly 7k kms earlier which went away post a restart after a break of 10 mins in the Seltos and now this. For me, the Indian has been more reliable than the Korean which is now taking me on an unplanned visit to the SVC tomorrow.

As per my research on the net and youtube till now, this has happened with quite a few Alcazars till now with the culprit being the DEF nozzle but the warning shown in those cases was different. So I am also quite puzzled right now. Maybe this is a sensor thing or maybe a DEF nozzle thing. Will get to know tomorrow.

Hi all,

Had an 'interesting' Test drive experience at Kia which i believe needs to be shared. I had asked my nearby dealership for a test drive of the Seltos. I was interested in the 1.5 7DCT GTX+. The sales person initially said the test drive car was not available. 5 min later i got a call saying a car had been arranged.

When the car came, it was a brand new car with the digital cluster blank. The sales person said (proudly) that he had brought me a car which was waiting delivery to a customer. Further, he had removed the fuse of the digital cluster so that the kilometers driven would not reflect in the Card mileage.
I refused the test drive since without the cluster active most of the features of the car would be inaccessible.

I hope this was an aberration and only this dealer has been doing this. The reason I bring this out here is to keep the potential buyers informed that their "brand new car" night have been used for multiple Test drives, so please do your PDI diligently.

Hello everyone. I own an facelift Seltos X-line 6At. For a few days now I am not able to see the 360 camera automatically getting activated when we start the car. Normally the 360 camera gets activated and stays on until the car reaches the speed of 20-30kmph.

Also 360 camera automatically starts when the car slows down to less then a certain speed usually when stuck in traffic. Both of them are not happening for a few days in my case. Can anyone tell me how do I reactivate it?

Camera gets activated when you reverse, not when you start the car.

Also Camera does not activate if you slow down the car, it activates if some vehicle, scooter or something comes close to your sensor and beeps.

I think in Mr. Anderson's case he probably kept the gear lever in R for a split second when going from P to D instead of swiftly pulling it back. Or maybe he does the step by step of P to R to N to D.

If the lever slots in R for even a split second, it will pop up the 360* cam screen with the reversing cam as the default view. Then when you go to N or D, it shifts the cam view to the front cam. This stays until 20kmph when the cam and sensors both get deactivated.

There is also a setting to prevent the 360 cam and sensors from activating if you are in traffic and your speeds are below 20kmph. Maybe that may have been turned off accidentally or something?

Check in settings. There will be an option along the lines of activate sensors/cam at slower speed, if I am not wrong.

Yes, I think the camera should get activated automatically under certain conditions. I remember experiencing it during a test drive.

Did you try switching the 'surround view monitor auto on' function to reactivate it? It should be under Driver Assistance menu option, if my memory serves me right.

I see the option if I search for Routines under Settings. Using a Galaxy Flip3, but I assume the S20 should have this too. Not sure why you wouldn't be able to see it. I don't use Routines myself as I have more convoluted usecases which routines can't serve. I use an app called Macrodroid, but I wouldn't recommend that unless you're someone who likes to tinker with automation.

Yes thank you it worked, parking assistance was unchecked for some reason. I checked it and started to work again.

Anyone tried using this? Do they work like conventional hydraulic struts which raise the bonnet with a slight lift?

I have booked my KIA seltos GTX Diesel and it just got alloted to me today. - 27th June.

My dealer in Chennai says that there could be another price hike - July 2024 onwards though they just increased the prices few months ago.

However, I called KIA India customer care and they said they do not have such information.

I also asked my dealer for an official communication from KIA but they have not shared.

Can anybody confirm or is this just a fake news for dealer to push for deals.
