Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review

I got the ECM update done a couple of weeks ago and completed 1000kms. The eco mode is so much more drivable now. There’s more power on tap and the engine feels much more relaxed and refined. Really good update! I hope Kia continues to tweak the setup over time.

One question for folks with petrol turbo dct. I am struggling to get even 13kmpl on the highways. I cruise around 80-90 most of the time and not very aggressive with the acceleration. Is anyone able to eek out better fuel economy numbers?

To clarify, i am seeing rust on Brake disc not on tyres ?

Its common in all cars, just drive around the rusting will reduce. The brake disc is made of cast Iron and will rust if not used, its fine as long as its thing surface of rust, it will go off when you drive.

I don't think KIA will take responsibility of this as i said its made of Cast Iron and will rust if car is stationary. If you feel if rust is too much, i guess you need to get it removed with payed service..

What’s the RPM you drive at ? 13kmpl is a tad low . Anything above 15 is a good number . Have you tried driving in turbo mode on the highways ?

Keeping a light foot on the accelerator will get you a good mileage that’s the thumb rule.

This results in sub-par sound quality, regardless of whether you connect the speakers to an amplifier or connect to the stock setup. This issue is consistent across all variants, including those with Bose or Arkamys systems. My GTX+ variant faces the same problem. If you’re not satisfied with the sound quality, I recommend replacing the rear speakers with 6.5" coaxial drivers from either Infinity or DLS. This upgrade will noticeably improve the sound output.
You are spot on. I noticed the issue to be 2 folds - 1st being the power delivery in Arkamys setup to rear speakers, and 2nd the speakers themselves of subpar quality. I like your suggestion.

Wondering if the ECM Update for the 2023/24 Models or is it for all the variants? I haven't been notified about this yet.

And, about your question on the FE - Its quite low on highways IMO even for a DCT. Does your highway driving involve frequent gear changes coz of traffic/poor road quality? And whats the RPM and the tyre pressure like?

Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review

I recently took the delivery of GTX+ Turbo Petrol. I am unable to use Apple CarPlay on my or spouse's iPhone. I have tried 3 different wires (including 2 stock cords from Apple) but I keep getting a message on the screen saying "Please connect a phone that supports Android Auto or Apple CarPlay via an approved USB cable.".

Has anyone faced similar problem on GTX+?

Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review

I am facing an issue with the 10" unit of my Sonet GTX - the media played over BT doesn't resume playback after ending a call; I have to manually resume it via the touchscreen. Is there any system setting that needs to be checked? I tried to search but couldn't find anything specific.

P. S.: Apologies for posting this query in the Seltos thread as the Sonet FL thread is practically dead (with no responses). Also, the 10" units of the FL Seltos & Sonet are the same, hence.

I assume you already tried this. But just to be sure, the type-c port is for charging only. The type- a port is where the cable has to be plugged into in the car.

Also, please go into the settings of your iPhone to enable carplay if it is switched off.

If the phone you are using is either a Xiaomi or one from BBK( Oppo, Vivo, Realme, Oneplus), the phone automatically kills off the music player during the call. To disable this, lock the music app in the recent apps menu.

It's iPhone 12 Pro.

Never faced this issue with any AVN till date. It's only this 10" unit from Kia

I had the same problem with HTX. I've realized that I should use a cable configuration supporting fast charging types. I bought this from Amazon and this solved the problem - Link here

Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review

Recently got a Seltos GTX 7DCT Aurora Black Pearl delivered, the newly launched variant. Thought I will share my experience

The Delhi/Bangalore Problem

My hometown is in Delhi, While I work in Bangalore. Surprisingly, all the Delhi dealerships were offering free warranty and free insurance. But the Bangalore dealerships were just offering free warranty and some discount on Insurance. Even after adding up cost of transferring car from Delhi to Bangalore, Buying from Delhi made more sense.

The dealerships in both cities pushed me very hard to go for GTX+ citing multiple reasons like you won't get discounts on new variant, It might take more than 1-2 months, GTX+ is more value for money etc. A few SA were not even aware about the feature gaps in 2 variants and made up extra gaps to make the GTX+ look more attractive. I had fixated on getting the GTX.

At this point I had already booked the car in Bangalore on their promise that they will get me same discounts as Delhi.

The Car allocation
Within 5 days of booking, the Bangalore dealership mailed me that Car has been allocated and I need to pay the remaining amount. I went to SA and today they said that the discounts won't be possible.
I decided to cancel my booking immediately. The SA asked me to think for a few days before cancelling, and they will hold the car for me.

The Price Match
I called the SA 4 days later, Still with the decision that I want to cancel my booking. Though this time they assured me they will match the price and if I can make the payment in 2 days time.

I went ahead and closed the deal. Overall, Apart from the car base price(Rs 18,99,990) I paid 6k for insurance(RTI+Engine cover add ons) and got very basic accessories worth 6k from them. Extended warranty was free.

Delivery
Got the car delivery within next 3 days.

The first small journey
Drove to Bangalore airport the next day. Not a long drive as such, but the longest I have done till now. The round trip was a total of 84 kms that i completed in 3.5 hours. I drove on a extremely light pedal most of the time and it gave me a mileage of 12kmpl. Expected a slightly better mileage.

Overall pretty satisfied with the purchase.

Had my 10,000 km / 1-year service done today at Incheon Kia - Thrissur. Arrived at 9:15 AM, and everything was wrapped up by 11:00 AM (skipped the body wash). The total bill came to around INR 3100.

Invoice:

Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review

After following the Kia and Hyundais models recently, I have some ideas for new variants or powertrain options which can be introduced in the Seltos.

- Turbo Petrol in HTE/HTK variants. This can be paired with an iMT. Both of the Carens base trims get the 1.5 Turbo iMT, so why cant this be implemented in the Seltos as well?

-DCT in HTK+?. This can rival the Creta N Line N8 variant as the N8 is based on the S(O) variant, which is almost equal to the HTK+ variant in terms of features.

-LED Projectors for HTE/HTK/HTK+. If Kia can price hike their cars quite frequently, please give these 3 variants LED Projector headlights instead of Halogen Projectors.

Does anyone have any more suggestions apart from these to help boost Seltos sales or appeal to more buyers? Post them!

Only the USB-A Cable supports Android Auto/Carplay. The USB-C is power only.

Mate, congratulations! I have booked the same variant and the delivery is in 2 weeks. Have scoured the internet for pictures of this variant but no luck. Do you mind sharing a few pics?

Edit: I read that as the Xline Aurora black. Apologies. Can't seem to delete the comment.
