There is actually a significant difference - chrome in GT line vs no chrome in X line (barring the window trim). This alone makes the X line with all black treatment quite unique and sets it apart from the sea of GT and Tech lines. I would choose the black X line over others for its oh-so beautiful and elegant sage green interiors and its sleek, stealthy black exteriors.

In the pictures shared, we can clearly see the chorme window trims. Yes the door handle looks all black vs chorme in GTX+. But GTX+ does not have chrome anywhere else (I will have to relook at my car again ). So there is no significant change as such. Plus, at first look, there is absolutely no difference to a causal buyer.

Also, there are no pics yet of the front face of the car. So not sure if the front is all black or it retains some chorme.

We are talking about exteriors only. And whether sage green seats (not interior) with gloss black is subjective. Some may like it, some may not.

I think the black seats with white trim look much more better with gloss black. Gives it an all black look.

GTX has quite a bit of chrome upfront, Chrome handles, Chrome trim on the window, chromish black wheels, diffusers finished in silver. A lot of contrasting elements IMHO.

Compared to that, the X line has the wheels and the window trim, ofcourse the chrome is less. More than the casual buyers, this distinction is important for the
one buying it, especially if someone detests chrome (like I do). Casual buyers will opt for the regular variants. Kia just finalised me as a customer as well, amongst the plethora of ones who are ok with chrome. Many more like me.

To mitigate the chrome that everyone else is apparently ok with (and I am not belittling anyone's choices here, please do not misunderstand), I resorted to buying a silver ecosport to get some cohesiveness. Would have finalised the silver GTX+ as well, because of the chrome standing out on all the other colours except silver IMHO, and the unwillingness to maintain the matte paint made me wait on my booking, there were some indications kia might do a soft rejig post the creta launch, and the ones looking for a car with no chrome and no matte paint will have an option. This is as clean a look from a mass market manufacturer that we can get, in the choice of a model that we like as well. A dark edition of the harrier will not make me swing that way, but this edition of the seltos, even with a bit of chrome speaks to me more than the GTX+. it's all subjective.

Going to black out the window trim after a year or when I get bored of that bit of chrome as well. The wheels after that. With this X line, will have to do just those two bits. Pure stealth.

Col mehta's post has the front, back and the side, just a few posts above. Do check that out and it'll clear some doubts about the front profile as well. The DRLs look like fangs. NICE!

Already decided I am going to call the steed, Fenrir.

There is tons of chrome and grey elements in the GTX+ apart from what you've mentioned.

The GT Line gets chrome and grey inserts around the grill, heavy chunks of grey inserts in both front and rear bumpers which are all glossy black in XLINE and door cladding too is grey , while the same has been blacked out in the X-Line for a stealthier look.

An X-LINE in black will look something different to even a casual viewer, even if he may not spot the difference at once but something will tell him that it looks much more elegant for some reason.

You can check offical Kia India website and switch between black GTX+ and black Xline in 360° viewing mode and you'll see there is significant difference in both of them even externally.

Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review

My bad folks. I somehow managed to miss the picture of front face

Indeed it is all blacked out. But I don't like the blacked out front. GTX+ looks much better (not cuz I have one). I guess, its to each his own.

You are an absolute legend. Might we implore you for more of these clear pics? Is your dealership sending these?

No one has ever mistaken me for a legend before, but there’s a first for everything. Thank you .

Yes, it’s all coming in from our SA who had to endure our endless haggling for these pictures. She's been a star!

The car has just been delivered to its rightful owner. So no more pictures unfortunately. Hopefully will be able to share more when ours reaches their stockyard in a few weeks time.

I too own a GTX+, but I would have definitely chosen this black X-line had it been launched earlier . Only reason I did not get X-line was due to matt finish.

Yours (with matte PPF) looks equally stunning! Would have opted for it instead if Kia hadn't launched the Black X line.

I share your sentiment. We were also torn between the GT and X lines, primarily because we loved the sage green interiors, but weren't sure of matte paint maintenance. Very glad that Kia launched the Black X-line just at the right time which offers the best of both worlds.

Oh absolutely. No regrets buying it whatsoever especially after applying ppf which is an absolute must for matte paint. Makes the maintenance part as easy as any other car with glossy paint.

It's just that the black one without the chrome bits looks like a batmobile and as eye catchy as the matte one.

I'd make sure to cover it with ppf too. Black cars are the next most difficult to maintain after matte finish ones.

Overall evaluation: Acceptable

Is this the same as the one we get in India?

This seems to be a US sold car. This could be (not sure) very different from what we get in India.

With six airbags and strengthened structure as shown at launch time, the Seltos safety should be better than the pre-facelifted one.

In any case safety of passengers depends on so many factors including driving habits.
