The adblue tank is 20L as told by the SA to me. After running for around 10k kms I topped it up with around 9.5L of Adbue at the service centre, so consumption is around 1L/1000km. The Kia service centre uses Indianoil Clearblue brand of Adblue for the top ups and it costs around 55/L at the service centre. (Could be cheaper from outside)

A followup. I had to visit the ASC for some work and I got to know the reason for the gauge not moving. The urea level gauge is not in equal gradations. The half way mark is actually 20% level. Below that is 10% and empty is ~5%. So once the level in the instrument cluster gets to half, that's when the Adblue warnings will appear. So the level not moving is completely normal. I, however do not understand why this has to be complicated.

Seltos buying Journey update:
Thank you guys for all your inputs. Finally decided to go ahead with the GTX+ DCT. Pune dealers are refusing to budge on discounts that I'm getting in other places. So will be buying the car from Mumbai. Will have to compromise on the colour- Mumbai dealers don't have the pewter olive in stock. Thinking of going with the black, what do you guys think?

Also on a different note, how much difference will there be on the resale value of the car If I get it registered in 25 since there are only a few weeks left for the year to end?

TIA!

Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review

Three weeks and 2200 kms update:

The 1.5 D AT engine transmission combo is a mile muncher. The car is smooth as butter and overtaking is a breeze, just like our 1.6 D AT Creta (now sold). Now having driven the Seltos for these many days and kms, I think I'm ready to gauge the difference between the two. While the BS4 1.6 D AT (Creta) was an exceptional machine with the extra power and torque, the BS6 ph2 1.5 D AT (Seltos) is "almost there", albeit with a lesser power. The initial acceleration on the Creta was brisk and the pull was strong from as low as 1.3-1.5k RPM. The Seltos is a bit linear in the initial acceleration, however, doesn't feel underpowered which was the initial concern during my TDs. The mid range performance is almost similiar, but the Creta with the extra power felt better. The Seltos feels more refined with a lot better NVH levels though.

Having said that, the car is a pleasure to drive in all conditions and the best thing is the typical TC trait i.e., no jerks in city/slow speeds/initial gears. I feel the D AT is a better combination of power, efficiency and drivability. And because the diesel engine is heavier, it results in a more planted front end at high speeds, making the torque delivery feel more enjoyable compared to lighter petrol engines.

Since the car is primarily driven in the S and Sport modes, the fuel efficiency has been reasonable, though not very high. But we aren't concerned about it at all (as long as it's not very low). On a recent highway trip with three adults, their luggage, and a mix of open roads, hilly terrain, bad roads, and heavy traffic, we got ~16 km/l, which we find perfectly acceptable.

A little bit on the ADAS:

Other than the forward collision assistance, we have regularly used all the features and we feel the system is tuned almost perfectly. The lane keep and departure assist, blind spot monitoring etc are being used regularly on our highway drives. Special mention of adaptive cruise control - it's brilliant. We experienced it for the first time on the Astor back in 2021 and had loved it, and it continues to be one of the most liked ADAS features on the Seltos.

Here are a few more pictures from the recent drive. The black Xline draws attention and curiosity from many on the road, at fuel stations, in parking lots etc where people often ask if the all black finish is a custom job.

I believe Kia had an offer for Seltos purchased before Dec 31st 2023 wherein they'd repair a scratch free of cost within the first year. Now I know this is a whole lot more than just a scratch, but I'm wondering if some discount could be worked out in lieu of that offer. My 1yr/10k service is coming up soon and I'd love to know if anyone else has had any success in wrangling a deal from Kia. TIA!
Based on my experience, the black panels would be suggested to be replaced and the scratch care program may not apply here. Better to directly check with the SA.

Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review

Has anyone been using the wireless charging pad on GTX+?

If I am not wrong then, this pad comes with a cooling feature?

How do we know if the cooling is on for the wireless charging pad?

I always drive my car with AC on, however I have been experiencing that the phone heats up when I am using the wireless charging and the charging speed is ultra slow (its charging my iPhone by just 10-15% in 1 hour!).

I understand generally wireless charges do heat up the device however I thought the cooling feature would address that.

Thanks

Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review

I have used the wireless charging pad a few times, although the max was 30 min at a stretch. It did not heat up my phone.

Also note that there is no cooling provided in the charging area.

I use it daily for almost 2-3 hours. My phone is a samsung s22 ultra with a spigen case. I have had no issues till date. Ofcourse it does heat a bit, which is normal even with a wired charger.

Do check your phone with a regular wirless charging pad & also remove covers (if any) before using it in your car.

As Far As I Know, You can only turn ON/OFF the wirless charger.

How do we know if the cooling is on there?

Thanks
The pad needs to be absolutely clean of debris. Any metals, like pins or paperclips, and dirt will cause the phone to overheat. Also, as suggested by other members, any thick case like Ringke or Otterbox will cause the phone to overheat.

There is a cooling vent in the far end of the shelf. It is not chilled, but provides good airflow.

There is no air in flow through this vent. I have checked it with the car on. My guess is that vent is for the heat to dissipate.

Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review

Hello,

This is my first post on the T-BHP. Please pardon me for any mistakes. I was looking for HTK+ IVT in NCR but none of the dealers seem to have fresh stock. A couple of dealers are saying that they can arrange one from other dealers in nearby states and that too will be May/June manufactured model. As per them Kia is mainly focussing on HTX and Gravity Edition production and not taking fresh orders for HTK+ IVT. Dealer is suggesting me to buy HTX IVT with some additional discounts. Please suggest should I go ahead with HTX or get a 3/4 months old car from nearby state. Thanks in advance.

Hello! Welcome to Team-BHP.
I would suggest going with the HTX variant over the HTK+ because it offers the following add-ons:

ISOFIX Child Anchor
LED Headlamps
17-inch Alloy Wheels
All LED Lights
Sequential Turn Indicators
Tilt and Telescopic Steering Wheel
Power Windows with Auto Up/Down for All Doors
Rear Armrest with Cupholders
Electric Folding ORVMs
Dual Zone AC
Paddle Shifters
10.25-inch Touchscreen

The HTX is a well-equipped variant, and with the current discounts, you can get a great deal.

Most Kia dealers offer pan-India delivery. Even my nearest dealership offers delivery to places as far as Delhi, Mumbai, and Punjab, especially with models like the HTK+ IVT, which don't have much demand.

Do try contacting the dealerships from nearby states (like Punjab, Haryana, and UP) directly. They will be more than happy to help you, and you can get great discounts. The HTK+ is still in production but seeing poor demand, so there are chances some dealers may have one or two-month-old models at their stockyards.

However considering the price difference vis a-vis features (approx 1.64 lakhs OTR before factoring in discounts on respective models), the features offered make up for the price, so it isn't a bad idea to go for the HTX provided your budget allows it.

Just a query, have you considered the S(O) Petrol IVT variant of the Creta, it is also an extremely value-for-money option and priced at around 18.35 lakhs OTR provided you like its looks, however, offers won't be as high as the Seltos though.

I thought the same. I assumed the functionality to be similar to cooled glovebox- it would be pumping out air all the time. But found out that the vent turns on only when the wireless charger is being used-When the Qi indicator turns yellow.

My Running will mostly be in the city, occasional out of town drives 1-2 times a month. You're right, the Seltos doesn't have the IVT in the top trims and I don't want to drop ADAS as a feature. Creta is a good option but SX (O) IVT will cost me more or less same as the GTX+ DCT with the discounts I'm getting on the Seltos. I think I'll go with the petrol. Thank you!

I think 8-10k per year difference won't justify buying the diesel. I think I will go with the petrol.

So I would strongly suggest going for the Seltos vs Creta. While I own 4 Creta's one from each generation, the latest addition was this Seltos. There are minor differences but when you own the KIA for say over 6 months, you realise that there's just noticeable differences in quality of various things. The undersea Amplifier in Creta vs hidden in the boot in Seltos. The Display refinement in Seltos vs Creta's software. the seat height on Seltos vs Creta. Multiple such things that you'd only notice after owning the car.

ADAS is a great feature to have but is annoying in case you run too much in bumper to bumper traffic situations - for example Bangalore city traffic or maybe even Delhi (peak hours). In case you maintain safe distances someone would cross you over, most likely an auto or a taxi and you feel bad about it. Having said that I feel it's a great feature to have and one must use the latest of the tech available - if its affordable and it make your driving more comfortable and safe.

To answer your question on ECO mode. I have tested the modes but it feels odd to own a turbo car and then run it on eco. Never ran on eco more than 2-3 KM always switch back to regular mode.

Not a Kia fanboy yet, but I guess slowly getting there.
