As for the headlights part, is it better in Creta/Alcazar?
No, the Creta and Alcazar also come with a poor light setup.

Booking Experience from middle of the ocean

About me - I am a marine engineer working onboard oil tankers. Joined this ship in April of 2024 and as it’s almost time to go home i thought this is the right time to book a new car.
Happy to share that I booked a Xline DCT in Aurora Black.

This one is only coming on orders as no dealer have this in stock so I was skeptical that a good deal on this one is possible as dealers will be pushing hard to clear their inventories rather then providing deals on something which they don't have in stock.
Booking Experience- All the dealings were done on whatsapp calls and messages.
Firstly checked the on road price of Xline online and it was 23.98 with dealer insurance, extended warranty and accessories kit and remembered all the lessons i have learned from multiple threads on this forum in past six months. Straight away removed the accessory bundle which brought the effective price to 23.73

Contacted a SA in Gurgaon and asked for his best quote for Aurora black Xline DCT, I made sure he understand that I mean business and will consider buying from them if provided with a good deal. Well he gave a quote and that was a starting point for us. While I was haggling with this SA my partner arranged numbers of various dealerships. Pitted one dealer against other and was able to get the final deal for 22.33 plus 5K of accessories complimentary. I think I landed a decent deal and I owe my thanks to this forum and Team BHP. In the end all three dealers with whom we were in contact agreed for this deal but we chose the one which is closest to our home.

Thanks to all the members for their feedback and ownership threads which helped in cementing our thoughts in choosing seltos as our next car, Flasshhhh your posts were of great help for the negotiation part, Col Mehta trust me after the first time you shared the pictures of Black Xline I knew this is the one for me and after your ownership thread I was in awe of those stealthy no chrome looks of the exterior and as for the interiors I was already a fan of those exquisite sage green interiors. Although I liked the black interiors of GTX plus but I never liked the piping design of those seats (subjective) and with matte finish I would be compromising on ease of maintenance so this is a no compromise product for me.
Now the waiting game starts, I'm promised delivery in last week of this month, will update the forum as things unfold.
Happy motoring to all.
Regards,
Mariner_sky

Welcome to the forum, dear! And heartiest congratulations on booking your dream car. Glad my posts were helpful, and appreciate your kind words.

The all-black Xline is indeed a handsome looking car and a head turner. Have seen quite a few giving it a second look. Many have inquired about the variant and other details so it's definitely generating curiosity. The sage green interior theme truly is the icing on the cake.

Good luck! I look forward to reading about your buying and ownership experience.

I use this one for my Iphone 13. Maybe you can look up a USB A to Type C from this brand, based on reviews.

Use a Portronics cable for iPhone 13/14 and another Portronics cable for iPhone 15 (its called Konnect I think).

Works fine. Don’t think we need an MFi certified cable for CarPlay Connectivity at all.

Iphone 16 pro has killed the Lightning Port. All new phones have only USB-C hereafter.

Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review

Our Seltos D AT has done 3000 kms in just about a month. And that's the running we had in mind to check the DPF soot level. I understand it's a little early, but we wanted to evaluate things at the initial stage of ownership and see if we need to change our driving pattern/style.

So we have had a mix of city drives and highway runs (40:60) with mixed traffic conditions (open roads to heavy traffic). We have been driving in the range of 1.5-2.5k RPM whenever possible while trying to maintain a speed of 60kmph and above, again whenever possible. City drives see low speeds at low RPMs while highway drives are spirited. With this pattern so far, we went to a nearby Kia SC and this is what we found:

2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review-20241109_114255.jpg

The senior technician we spoke with mentioned that it's normal as the maximum limit is 200% (I remember reading somewhere that it is 250?). He suggested to warm up the engine in the morning and idle it for a couple of minutes after a drive, which we always do. He also mentioned that as long as we take it for regular highway drives while maintaining decent speed and RPM, we don't necessarily have to drive with heavy foot.

Experts: what do you think of DPF soot level as 38% at this stage and the suggestions made by the technician? Your inputs will be highly appreciated.

Yes. it was working with my previous iphone 13 which had lightning port. Trouble and confusion began when i upgraded to iPhone 16 pro which as USB-C. Took me a couple of days to figure out the right cable.

Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review

Sharing a recent highway drive experience and fuel efficiency:

The car, as usual, is a pleasure to drive, both in city traffic and open roads. A few pointers:

The D mode is a good mix of both power and drivability in city limits. The car feels relaxed with adequate power on standby. The Eco mode dulls engine's performance, perhaps a little too much, which renders this mode almost useless. The Sport mode is fun, particularly on open roads, where you can push the car within permissible limits. This mode makes the engine a lot more responsive by keeping it in the power band. Just a gentle tap on the accelerator and the car lunges. The only downside is it makes the steering wheel heavy which isn't a great experience when you are navigating through city traffic conditions.

Special mention of the S/Manual mode. Just like the Sport mode, it keeps the engine in the power band which helps with quick acceleration and effortless overtakes. It gets even better once you start shifting gears manually. For our highway runs, we prefer this mode. To maintain a speed of 90-100 kmph, we prefer to keep the transmission in the 5th gear which keeps RPMs in the range of 2.5-2.8k (ideal for DPF regeneration, we hope).

While the 1.5 diesel engine and 6 Speed AT combo offers great drivability, power and efficiency, it lacks the outright punch that a turbo petrol offers (example: 1.4/1.5 turbo DCT and 1.5 DSG). Even our 1st gen Creta D AT with that tasty 1.6 engine felt a lot more powerful and eager. These 1.5 ph2 diesel engines are definitely detuned to meet emission norms and for better efficiency perhaps. Having said that, it's not slow or lethargic by any means, infact it's an excellent mile muncher on highways and jerk/lag free in slow traffic which makes for a great driving experience overall.

The car is consistently returning decent fuel efficiency in both city and open roads. With moderate traffic and enough space to drive the car at a healthy speed it returns ~15kmpl in city. With heavy stop and go traffic it drops drastically to ~11kmpl.

On highways:
On a stretch with less to no traffic, we got 24kmpl and above which is fantastic!

On a stretch with moderate traffic, the efficiency dropped to ~20kmpl.

With spirited drives, and moderate to heavy traffic stretches, this is what we got at the end of a 300 km drive. To note that we have seen lesser efficiency when the drives include hilly terrains and full load (this time we were just two with limited luggage and no hilly terrains).

Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review

Hello everyone. Does anyone know how to toggle the speed limit indicator(a small red and white circle with a number in the centre that corresponds to the speed limit) that is displayed on the instrument cluster? It shows blank small dashes instead of numbers if the speed limit is unknown or not available for that particular stretch of the road.

My Seltos Xline has always had it on, but my cousin and friend who own a GTX+ and GTX+S respectively are unable to see it on their instrument clusters. They have tried everything in the settings but are unable to get it to display.

Hey! Congratulations on your purchase.
Would you mind sharing which dealer you got it from? I'm planning to buy one as well

The speed limits indicator is based on the map data of the onboard navigation (MapmyIndia) if the particular road is newly built, there would be no data for it. So I'd suggest your cousin to wait for map updates. Except for turning the feature off, there is nothing we can do.

We we have tried everything. The navigation and infotainment is updated to the same version in all the cars. If the data is not available then it shows blank inside the circle which is always there in my car but it doesn't display the red and white circle only in my cousin's car.

I am attaching pics for refrence of the how the infotainment looks in both my X-line and my cousin's GTX+.

See below the "D" symbol. It shows speedlimit in mine but the speed limit circle itself is missing in my cousin's car even though he was driving on an open stretch on the mahasumridhdhi marg. The map should obviously have speed limit data of one of the best expressways of India.

Oh I thought you were not getting the speed shown. You can activate it through Settings -> Vehicle -> Cluster -> Content Selection -> Traffic Signs

The speed limit will now be displayed.

Thank you for your wishes.

I can see your location as Pune, whereas i booked my car with Elite kia Rewari. The car is already in transit and reach their stockyard around 20th of this month. I also negotiated with dealers from Gurgaon, ASB kia and Allied kia. They also claimed the same that the car will come on order and i can get a delivery in same month after booking. Both dealers from Gurgaon also matched the quotation as stated in my above post. Let me know if you plan your purchase from Gurgaon so i can give you numbers of the SA i was in touch with.
