Thanks a lot for sharing this. I think I will keep a separate switch only as I don't want to mess at all with the warranty.

Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review

Hi Guys
So, I finally got to experience Kia's warranty process. I have been facing yellowing issue in DRL's for my Kia Seltos and thus, I had taken my car to service center. SA had clicked few photos and told me they will inform once the replacement parts are there.

I thought good, they will initiate the process and let me know. However, when I followed-up after few days, they had not even started the process . Anyhow, after multiple follow-ups, the parts were ordered and received at service center after 10 days and I got them replaced last Saturday. Replacement process was pretty straightforward and was completed within an hour or so. However, I was shocked to see the insane price of each headlight. Each headlight costs ₹40,584

Anyhow, they updated the new headlight part number via using OBD interface and I was good to go. On asking whether same issue will re-occur, SA assured me these are improved ones developed by Kia and shouldn't have any issue.

I am not too sure about their longevity so let's keep our fingers crossed

Happy to say I haven't felt any back pain issues while driving mine. I have covered almost 15k kms in 11 months and went on multiple long road trips.

Good to know (unfortunately) that it is a Pan-India headache.

Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review

Dear members,

Interestingly Kia India has omitted inbuilt perfume diffuser cartridge in Xline.

I tried finding it online, checked with online spare parts vendor but couldn’t find it.

Has anyone tried putting a gel air freshener in centre arm rest below the air purifier ? Will this workaround work ?

As I don’t want to hang or place anything on the dashboard so any other workaround if possible please guide.

Thanks & regards,

Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review

I took a test drive of Seltos GTX+ today, and though my initial impression of the interior and ride stability far exceeded what I was expecting, I had a nagging issue and pain on the left thigh (I am 5,11) . I never had this issue while doing the test drives for Elevate, Taigun, Citroen C3 Aircross etc. I initially wanted to brush it off thinking it had to do with the seat adjustments (though I adjusted to a comfy level before setting off), but after reading some of the comments here from recent days, I am actually beginning to wonder whether its a consistent issue for many. After the test ride, and getting into the driver seat of our Toyota Etios, I immediately slumped into the seat of Etios and felt comfortable. So, definitely, there was this nagging issue I faced while in the drivers seat in Seltos.

Thanks to others pointing it out here, now, I will have a more discerning factor while choosing the right car for me.

.... So definitely something is wrong with the seat and the steering position which is causing these back pains.
Kia and Hyundai seats have almost concave kind of shape at lower back. basically I felt they lack lower back support. Me and My wife never felt comfortable in my Hyundai Grand i10 for more than 30-40 minutes journeys. Felt the seating is similar in Creta and Seltos in our test drives and this is the only major negative for us in creta/seltos.
It is even worse in Tata nexon.
In contrast, ergonomic seats are good in the Honda Jazz, which is a big relief while making long journeys when compared to Hyundai Grand i10.

This. I'm currently recovering from a slipped disc due to which I've developed sciatica.

Raising the seat gives the legs proper support and they rest at nearly parallel to the seat instead of a angle. This in turn reduces the strain on the lower back and gives a more comfortable driving experience. Recline a seat a bit more and bring the steering wheel as towards you. I've found this to be very comfortable and can even drive for 4-5 hours with minimal bio breaks without any pain.

Many people forget that Seltos has a telescopic steering. This boon is lost in between all the bling and gimmicky features offered by Seltos.

Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review

After reading through a lot of posts on the seating, I want to give my 2 cents.

Have been driving Seltos X line for about 10 months now and covered more than 9000 kms (60% City, 40% Highway). I'm 5'8' and during the initial days I couldn't get the exact lock in position for a comfortable seating inspite of fiddling with all the levers and was experiencing lower back and leg pain. Adjusting the seat a bit forward than my usual distance and raising the front part for uber thigh support has significantly reduced the discomfort. Also effective use of both reach and rake functions of the steering wheel greatly enhanced the driving experience (I've observed that people generally tend to put the steering either at complete high or complete low position while adjusting, but we need to remember that we could fix it at any point between those extreme ends). It's been all good since then. Folks who own an electrically adjustable seat model are a bit more lucky as you can find the sweet spot easily than with those models which adjust in steps.

Even though I've been using the car since 10 months, I specifically wanted to write this after my 40 min drive today while paying attention to the seating position - again no discomfort at all.

If the whole plastic cartridge is missing, other solutions won't work. The cartridge has a closed seal with purifier. You can get the cartridge as a spare (if the purifier has cavity to hold it).

PDI completed today. Used Cars24 PDI service and the technician found the car to be in perfect condition. As per the VIN the manufacturing is December 2024. Now the wait begins!

Need a suggestion guys.
Which one will be better for insurance in the long run? Kia Insurance or TATA AIG Insurance?
IDV value for both are 95% of the ex-showroom price. The premiums for both Kia Insurance and TATA AIG are almost same with a difference of few hundreds or a thousand after including all the add-ons (Return to Invoice, Zero dep, Key replacement, Engine protection, consumables cover).

If both are identical, than go with Kia insurance for better peace of mind.

Congratulations & all the best!

When I asked the dealer to match TATA AIG's offer, they agreed at first but during the final phase they were unable to match the offer and the ad-ons that TATA AIG was providing. Also, wanted to add one point to their assurance of unlimited coverage in a year and peace of mind for claims; recently a friend of my uncle who owns a new Sonet met with an accident and had bought the in-house insurance, and although the work was finished in a jiffy, they're yet to get their vehicle delivered as the insurance formalities haven't yet been completed, so my only advise would be to double check on what they have to offer, as sometimes they'd omit some ad-ons for unsuspecting customers.

Wanted to provide an update after going the hassle and following both your advises. First, I'd like to thank you for the fuse taps idea; since I lost the initial ones that I had when bought the hardwire kit along with the dashcam, but went ahead and contact Vijay from VIOFO India who was humble enough to not charge me for the fuse taps and only asked me to pay the courier charges (Huge kudos to him), and as suggested, I approached a different technician to get this sorted out. Everything done and sorted? At least that's what I thought off initially, but alas, no! The dimming feature was still cocking up with the camera connected, and with it disconnected the soul inside the IRVM was alive again. I was about to crawl my helpless bum back to my fellow BHPians for more assistance, however, this time I tried to go through some of VIOFO threads and VOILA! I found a probable solution; the Infrared LED for the interior cam somehow acts as an obstruction for the IRVM's back sensor making it believe that its still daylight which in return makes it stops from functioning its purpose (Which the technicians at KIA ASS stated the root cause to be distribution of source being the main culprit). A month long run, help from you two and some research has finally resolved my issue, and I test drove for more than 3 hours to verify that indeed the issue is now resolved. In case, if anyone in future comes across a similar issue, this might come in handy, especially for one's who have 3-way DashCams.

Thank you again for all your help and for saving me from future hazards.

Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review

Ceramic coating done on Onyx

Long before buying the car I started my research about Paint protection options available and after going through a lot of threads here on TeamBHP I understood the pros and cons of both PPF and ceramic coating.

My requirements were-
  1. Ease of maintenance/cleaning

  2. Retention of gloss

  3. Protection from intentional damage done to paintwork by some random individual ( why they do this is beyond me)

Why i didn’t opt for PPF
  • Cost - Initial cost of a quality PPF is very high compared to ceramic coating and even a full repaint job.
  • Application process - For a seamless application of PPF many panels are pulled apart, logos are taken out for the perfect fitment of PPF. I didn’t want to lose the factory finish level of panels so this also dissuaded me into getting PPF.
  • Protection offered - There’s no denying that PPF offers better protection from stone chips and small scratches but it’ll not provide the water repellency, chemical protection a ceramic coated surface provides.
  • Product life - Experienced detailers do advice for a re-application after 4-5 years as after that time there’s a chance that PPF will start to bond with paint and removing it after that can result in paint peeling and can be a major headache.

In conclusion, high initial cost and reapplication after 4-5 years didn’t make a good case for PPF.

The decision was made for ceramic coating as it ticks 2 out of 3 of my requirements.

Now the search for a good detailer begun and i came across a TeamBHPian Anish who goes by the name of AJ56 here and is owner of the 5C car care in Gurgaon. I must say his posts were very informative and his work speaks volumes about his passion in detailing.

Handed him the car 3 days after the delivery, i was under the impression as this is a brand new car and i haven’t washed or dusted it so it will be an easy task for them but while inspecting the paint work with Anish i understood how WRONG I was. Bonnet had a combination of moderate and some deeper scratches, swirl marks were very much visible, adhesive residues at some places and stains from bird poop and tree saps.

Scratches on bonnet:

Major swirl marks on bonnet:

Side view mirror heavily swirled:

Swirl marks on driver side door handles:

It’s sad how dealerships treat your car and how soft these water based paints are that few wrong washes and your car will be covered with swirl marks.

Now some parting shots after the job was done-

Alloys protected with ceramic coat:

Better then the condition i got it from the showroom:

Made a note that after the coating
  • I’ll be only opting for contactless wash, after the coating it should be a 15-20 minutes job tops.
  • While servicing i’ll ask them not to wash the car.

P.S- I'm not associated with 5C car care in any way.

How much did it cost you if you don't mind sharing it?

I am getting the delivery next week and initially thought of not getting anything done but now looking at this I might go for ceramic coating. I am a complete noob at this so I am not sure about the maintenance. The building security guy washes/wipes my current car daily. So is that a complete NO after the ceramic coating to maintain the shine? Can I just ask him to dust it and not use any damp cloth?
