Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review

I have a question on DPF. I have FL Seltos Diesel AT. For the past 2 weeks, I'm forced to do very short drives, between 2 to 3 kms every trip. These are few times in a day with a long interval in between, such that every start is literally a cold start. Never had time to do a long drive in these times.

Will such frequent small distance drives cause DPF issues?

Also, I have one opportunity to do 30 kms at a stretch next week. Only caveat is that the drive is on open road with very little traffic. So the RPM is going to be at coasting range. Will this be enough?

Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review

Hello All,

I own an IVT model and trying to find a solution to play music from the USB and connect to the Carplay as well.

I usually keep all my songs in the flashdrive and as you may aware, it can be played from the USB A port only. It appears that the USB-C is only for charging and nothing else.

Now, to connect carplay (for google maps), I need to use the same A port. So basically, I cannot have the google maps and music play at the same time.

Does anybody face a similar situation? How did you solve it? I believe this could be a common problem for everyone. Does any multi USB adapter work? I tried one, but it is not detecting the flash drive.

It is so bad that Kia is not providing a suitable solution. They should either provide google maps (in my opinion mapmyindia is no where near to google maps. I lost way multiple times) or wireless carplay. Just a wish!

It is very difficult to say what will be an ideal drive. But if you get a chance, try keeping it in sports mode so that the RPM will be higher enabling soot burn.

Such driving conditions over a period of time will cause DPF clogging in all likeliness.

A 30km drive on an open road with less to no traffic where you can drive in lower gears and higher RPMs should help burn off the soot. For reference, 4th gear for speeds upto 80kmph and 5th gear for speeds upto 100kmph would be ideal where the engine RPMs should hover around 2.5k-3k.

This is an edge usecase. I am pretty sure no Kia's product division has not thought about that. One way is to transfer your songs to your phone and play them through CarPlay. The other option could be to have Apple Music subscription.

Thanks for the recommendation. Looks like Kia didn't consider old gen like us using the flash drive for music

Saw this recent article. If this happens in India it would be a great benefit for many of us.

Hi all,

Looking at getting a HTK+ but was told by a dealer that this model is discontinued? Does anyone know if this is true? On a similar note, can anyone recommend a good dealer for Kia in Noida?

Thanks!

I'm using Carlinkit 5.0 adapter in my Creta and pretty happy with it. Bought it from Amazon few months ago.

I have posted my experience here

I also feel the same bur most cars now a days are programmed with an assumption that music source would be phone (apps). I guess we need to adapt to that. search for multi usb splitters on amazon, i think you can find one that transmits data on both usb ports. The one you have bought, try switching the flash drive to both usb ports and see if it is detected in only 1 port.

Looks like HUBs will not be detected in the USB port. I tried couple, but didn't work.

HTK+ is not discontinued but there is a slight twist to availability of particular type of HTK+
In April 2024 HTK+ available at X price point and last batch was made.
In May 2024 HTK+ became available at X price + 9 thousand and only sunroof was added. The same variant continues to be available till today as well.
I was particular that I don't want sunroof and wanted HTK+ only. My dealer arranged one for me and bit surprised that I am letting go of an Golden opportunity of getting sunroof for barely 9 thousand rupees. His surprise was understandable, given how customers go crazy after latest fads.
If you choose to get older HTK+ batch without Sunroof, you can bargain for better discounts since all others are running crazy after Golden opportunity of getting sunroof for 9 thousand rupees more and there is still old unsold stock lying around with some dealers. I'm yet to take Delivery of my vehicle though.
