Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review

Requesting 1.5 turbo DCT owners to throw some light on the gearbox overheating issues. Is it still there on the face lift model?

Other than that any niggles which are common with the DCT & Turbo engine?

No issues so far. I have driven in all variations. Long continuous stretch and short market trips. Flat expressways as well as Himachal. Temperature varying from 10 to 47 degree Celsius.

Though my total running has been comparatively on the lower side (~9K on the ODO) in 1.4 years of ownership, so far I have had not a single niggle or issue of any kind, touchwood. My seltos is running as good as it did on day 1.

Good to know that. What is the current mileage on the car?

That’s is great.

How are the brakes after prolonged usage. Do they hold their bite or become spongy as you put on the miles.

On highways it has always been above 17, sometimes touching 20. In traffic, mostly 12-14, depending upon the distance covered. This is in Normal mode.

I am sedate driver, apart from on Expressways.

So far no issues, although its only been a little over 1 year so might be too early. Hopes and prayers. No difference in braking, engine response, pickup etc car still feels and drives like new.

No issues with the brakes either. Still doing their job pretty good.

UPDATE - Extremely happy with JK Tyres Customer Service Response

So after receiving the valuable suggestions here I raised a complaint with JK Tyres on their website on Sunday and also sent an email to the Kia dealership about the tyre issue. Received a call from JK Tyres Bangalore office the very next day and they asked about the issue. I explained to him and instantly he told that he will replace the tyre under warranty claim. He told I have two options - either give the tyre to Kia service center and they will send it for analysing or get it directly replaced from JK Tyres office in Mysore Road, Bengaluru.

Received a call few hours later from the Kia dealership and they said the warranty claim will be with the tyre company and they will decide on the outcome but usually they won't replace it and might offer some discount on the new tyre (I didn't tell him about the call from JK Tyres). Kia dealership CCM told me to drop off the tyre in the service center and they will send it to JK Tyres and it will take around 10-15 days to get a response.

I decided to directly visit the JK Tyres office today and to my surprise they didn't even ask me anything or check the tyre properly. They issued the new tyre within 15 minutes! The behaviour of manager and staff there were extremely good. Very happy with how JK Tyres handled it. Saved me 9k!

Thank you to everyone who suggested me to check with JK Tyres first.

Congratulations!
Happy to see this went through. Happy the idea helped! Not a fan of JK’s tyres’ performance, definitely a fan of their customer service

Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review

Dear BHPians,

This is a long thread containing experiences of buying the Seltos, how I got some discounts from Kia (which was very difficult), and the PDI.

Arriving at the decision
- I guess the decision was not too difficult, as I was looking for a fuel efficient SUV (Diesel/ Hybrid), and a fully automatic at that for comfort while driving in Mumbai. Didn't like the fit and finish of Hyryder. Was left with Sonet/ Syros/ Seltos/ Creta. I already own a Creta, didn't find a lot of difference/ change while driving. Sonet was cramped for me. Syros had lot of space and features, but the interior is too subdued for my liking. I also don't like the new soft grey button controls on Syros. Seltos drive was awesome, a little stiffer than Creta for sure. But overall I found it to be quite good.

Negotiation and discounts
- Kia showrooms are extremely difficult to get any discounts out from. The 3 showrooms I was interacting with had initially straightaway rejected any benefits. And I started getting a feeling of bad luck.
- I didn't loose hope, and started calling every dealer in Mumbai. To get the first offer, I had to throw in a little fluke stating a 20k benefit, which one dealer agreed to match (I never disclosed an inclination to a certain colour, and that I can wait as well for a car).
- From thereon, one dealer to another, I was able to finally get, after 2 months, a free insurance (~80k quoted), and 35k benefits (25k in cash discount, and 10k of accessories/ services).
- The Key: Patience (of not trying to get the car quickly; it's a matter of you folding first or the dealer); Always portray that you are a serious buyer (and looking to buy the vehicle, as soon as you get a good deal); Don't disclose the colour uphand (The dealer always tries to use your needs (quick delivery, colour, variants etc.) as a leverage in negotiation)

PDI
- I frankly never did a PDI in the prior 2 cars our family has bought. It was simple purchase, but having read so many posts on team-BHP, I had made up my mind to do a PDI for this car.
- There were a few start-up sort of companies shared by BHPians, which I found to be costly, and I availed the services of a decent garage nearby who also does PDI services - His reviews were also quite good and genuine.
- The dealer was not willing to do a PDI at yard, and allowed to do at the dealership. I told him to hold on to any registrations before my PDI.
- I had also downloaded the PDI guide form Team-BHP which is quite exhaustive. However, you should add a list of features (basis your car) you should list down additionally, so that you don't miss out to check those (ex. 360 camera, blind spot monitors; wireless chargers; dual zone ACs; Icon displays on screen (ex. auto hold; drive modes, traction modes etc.))
- My vehicle had a pretty clean PDI and I was quite happy to see the same. I would really like to appreciate the patience, detailing and robustness of the PDI done though. The guy took a patient 1:45 hours incl. all photos and videos. I was done within 30 minutes, and I was not even 50% of this guy's attention to detail.

- Now waiting for the delivery in the coming week

This is an example of great customer support and warranty claim process demonstrated by JK tyres. While Kia service center tried to make you buy a new tyre by instilling a fear that JK tyre may not honor warranty, JK tyre service directly honored the warranty in a short time period and gave you a replacement.

Good to hear

I'm not a big fan of their tyres but your case is another example of JK's impressive customer centric approach.

I’ve driven approximately 4,000 km since replacing the headlights. While I don’t have a precise way to measure it, based on my experience, I’m convinced that the new headlights provide significantly better throw compared to the factory-fitted ones.

Ever since I noticed the issue of DRLs turning yellow, I can’t help but focus on them whenever I see a facelifted Seltos. And I’m not exaggerating when I say that 8 out of 10 Seltos have their DRLs turned Yellow!

I hope KIA addresses this issue sooner rather than later.

Car came back from KIA ASC 3 days ago, they still aren't sure about what's causing the issue, but the sound has ceased now. I was told they did some work on the compressor, actuator and some belt tensioner if I'm not wrong.

Car drove well for 2 days but, got the engine check light and Engine Management System error again today. Engine is behaving a little weird, I can sense more vibrations during idling on the steering wheel and the car hesitates to accelerate. It does accelerate but seems a little lethargic.
