Hi all, sharing my experience and service cost for my FL Seltos for the 2nd service done in Chennai.
The SA had mentioned free labour charges and only consumables will be billed. Was surprised to see that they billed me for Wheel Alignement Labour worth Rs 1.5k.

My overall 2nd service bill came up Rs 4600/- (Attached bill for your reference)

Is this normal or should I raise a complaint? Kindly help me with your experience. Thanks

The service head mentioned that labour is free and only consumables are charged. Upon receiving the bill, I had Rs 1400 billed in labour for wheel alignment. Is this fair?
Yes it's fair. Wheel alignment doesn't come under free service. It's an additional service which is chargeable unless one buys "My Convenience Plus" plan at the time of purchasing the car.

Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review

Hello All,

I have a Seltos facelift DCT 1.5 petrol turbo. The car has done only 1500 Kms. Last sunday while my wife was driving in HSR there was a warning check engine management system and go to service centre. Also the car's bonet and dash board was quite hot. So day before yesterday I took the vehicle to service center. They ran a diagnostic there and did not find any issue. The repair person said that this can happen sometimes due to software glitch and heating is also expected. However one thing is that the the fault warning did not appear in the history of the diagnostic report as well. My concern is I am planning my first long distance trip of about 400 Kms day after tomorrow. While the service advisor assured me that I can take the vehicle. Do you think that I should visit the service center again and demand another check. The fault not appearing in the history is bugging me. TIA.

Wheel alignment and balancing are up to customer's choice. I'm surprised they did not take your consent before doing that. It's up to customer when and where (at service center or outside) he or she wants to do WA and WB.

I would certainly advice a second visit to the service centre and have them check things again. Talk to the service head and clarify things once more. Involve a senior person in this after explaining what’s wrong. Make that person say it’s fine or whatever. These service advisors sometimes say anything to get you out of their hair and then if something goes south all they say is sorry.

Double checking things only gives you additional security and peace of mind.

Have a good trip.

Cheers

Hello Mr Anderson, Prepaying for parts and services that are already poor in quality is just a straight-up rip-off. Kia is more focused on securing its finances than actually adding and providing good after sale service experience, and plans like "My Convenience Plus" are just another way for them to get richer over time without adding any real value to vehicle owners. It’s optional now, but for how long? Will Kia eventually start forcing people to buy this plan just to get basic services? This is how these shady tactics work—they start by making it seem like a choice, then slowly make it harder for people without the plan to get proper service. Next thing you know, if you don’t have it, you’re either waiting forever for an appointment or getting subpar treatment. It’s like how airlines charge for seat selection—first, it’s optional, then suddenly, if you don’t pay, you’re stuck in the worst seat possible. Since owning my Kia Seltos from Feb 2024, the experience has been nothing but horrible, and this "My Convenience Plus" just feels like another way to squeeze money out of vehicle owners without actually improving anything in after sale service experience.

Hello rronbhp789, Aviator_guy. KIA after sales service is a rip-off for sure. Not surprised they did it without consent. Tire rotation (TR), wheel alignment (WA) and wheel balancing (WB) must be done at the vehicle owner's choice—where and when to get it done is up to them, not forced at the Kia authorized service center. The ASC in my case, Jaika Kia Nagpur, is no different. The general manager of after sales services at Jaika kia, Nagpur goes to great lengths when it’s time to lie or provide incorrect information to vehicle owners. I have been experiencing the same since I have owned a Kia Seltos. Kia ASCs close complaints without any communication, resolution or timely satisfactory customer service and customer consent. Reported incidents like these are clear indicators of the lack of quality in Kia’s after-sales services. Explaining and providing correct information is the most basic thing any ASC must do, and Kia ASCs are very poor at even that.

If any vehicle tires and steering are in good condition, repeating WA and WB at every service is just another unnecessary ripoff at KIA ASCs. There’s no real improvement achieved by doing it again and again when it’s not needed. I Would love to hear if anyone has insights on Kia’s TPMS relearn process to avoid these extra costs and time wasted at Kia ASCs. Just curious if BHPians have some insights or experience with it. I Would love to hear your thoughts on the correct tire rotation (TR) and TPMS relearn process for the 2023 Kia Seltos. I got tire rotation (TR) , wheel balancing (WB), and wheel alignment (WA) done at the Kia ASC because they handle the TPMS relearn after tire rotation (TR), which is important to make sure the TPMS system reads the pressures correctly after tires are rotated. Just wanted to double-check if anyone knows the exact process they follow or any workaround that works well. I'm really curious about this because it could help save both time and money for all vehicle owners who are getting unnecessarily charged at KIA ASCs for services that aren’t actually needed and don’t add any real value or improvement to their ownership experience. Only the necessary services, done at the right intervals, must be performed at the Kia ASCs to keep the car properly maintained without wasting money and time on things that don’t make a difference.

I also checked with some trusted local aftermarket shops, and they charge more for my Kia Seltos 2023 because they avoid TPMS relearn by removing and refitting the tires on the same wheel rims instead of changing wheel rim positions on the car. This method works, but it adds unnecessary cost and time since they charge more per tire for this process.

Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review

I've done about 10K KMS in my Seltos and the 2nd service is done too.
However, the Urea level was not topped up and its currently in half tank position.
Should this be refilled or it can be left as is till my next service (which is post another 10K KMS)
Kindly share your views. Thank you!

My experience has been exactly opposite. I have had my facelift XLine Diesel 6AT with me since August 2023 and have driven just under 20000 kms till date and I haven't faced any issues whatsoever, neither with any equipment nor with the service.(Fingers crossed)

The ASC has been very helpful going above and beyond what was actually needed. I had my first scratch removed for free under the "My Convience Plus" plan. Infact they removed 2 starches from different parts of the car for free when I requested.

They offered free pick up and drop service. Called me in for a free car wash more than once.

I asked for a rodent repellent treatment for which they quoted INR1800. I personally bought a 3M Rodent spray for 500 bucks and asked them to spray it during service and they happily oblidged and did it for free while the car was there for 2nd servicing.

They never asked me to purchase this plan, it was I who went through this forum and other Kia products forums before buying the car where everyone recommend to go with the plan and so far I found it absolutely worth it. I wasn't charged a penny for my first 2 services and got wheel balancing and wheel alignment done for free as well. Only paid for Adblue used for diesel cars.

I'll be going in for the 3rd service shortly and hope to have a good experience again.

Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review

Sharing a not so positive update with happy ending

I had purchased seltos htx ivt in Oct 24. After 6 months of blissful driving, the windshield developed an unexpected crack as shown below.
2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review-20250317_200242.jpg

There were neither visible signs of impact (stone hit) nor could this be felt while touching the windshield both from inside and outside.

Upon reddit and t bhp searchs, came to know that this has been experienced in India too(same model) and internationallly(kia sportage)

I just had to make a visit to ASB kia ghaziabad and showroom guys were super supportive and even requested me not to take insurance since this looked like a manufacturing defect to them.

Photos were clicked by ASC and the approval was received the next day and the vehicle was delivered in next 3 days.

Total damage to the wallet: 0 rs.

Special mention to service advisor Vipin who was constantly updating me about the warranty status.

Should be absolutely fine for the next 10k Kms. My Seltos Urea level is at 25% since my last service i.e. 30k Kms. My odo is currently at 34,500km and the urea level hasn't dropped much

Woww... 27 Km/L!! yours is diesel right? The max I touched was 15 Km/L on my recent 2000+ trip.

I recently completed 2000+ KM trip from GZB to Vadodara and back in my FL Seltos GTX+. The car performed above expectations on both the onward and return trip. No niggles, no issues whatsoever. I will post a detailed trip report shortly.

Achieving 27 km/l is a milestone for us during our 1.5 years of ownership. I’m sure you would agree that many factors come into play, with traffic being a significant one. Today was one of those days when the roads leading to the highway through the city were empty, thanks to Ramzan.

On the highway, our minimum mileage has been 20 km/l, even while driving in sports mode for about 50 kilometers at a stretch. This D AT car is exceptionally fuel-efficient on the highway, but I can't say the same for city driving.

2023 Kia Seltos Facelift Review-fuel-report.jpeg

Our average mileage is around 16 km/l, with approximately 70% of our driving being on the highway and 30% in the city.

So took Cyborg's advice (thanks again) and visited the service center. The senior SA told that the heating at the side is normal as hot air passes from there and there should not be any problem during the trip. Regarding the ems warning he could not say much as there was no picture of error code. With that assurance I took the trip and happy to report that there were no hassles or warnings. Coming from a 2012 Swift Dzire to this one was a big happy change, especially the ease of navigating Agumbe's hairpin bends. I would have been very, very nervous while traversing them in my Dzire. Overall the vehicle gave good power when needed and I did not push it much beyond 100 in most of the journey. For the patch driven by my wife between speed's of 60-80 for 90 odd kilometers the fuel efficiency on the cluster was shown to be 20, which I saw for the first time in my petrol DCT. Overall a good trip which was much less tiring :-)
