Re: 2023 Tata Nexon Facelift Review

Saw this thread on X. Looks like there are multiple issues in the car and the Dealership is not able to resolve them.

Thanks to Sooraj Chandran for sending in the details. Heartfelt gratitude for sharing it with other enthusiasts via this Team-BHP share page!

We purchased the new Tata Nexon Fearless, from Hyson Motor, Thrissur (Marathakkara, Thrissur, Kerala 680306).

The car was delivered on 22nd, November. Within 3 days, we had to visit the service centre due to multiple issues, multiple times.

On day 1, the instrument cluster and infotainment screen stopped working. We had to visit the service centre to fix it.

On day 2, the horn starts going off randomly and does not stop. A mechanic had to remove the fuse to stop the honking and visit the service centre to fix the problem. I was told the horn was faulty and it was rectified.

Today, the issue has repeated. Now the car horn is going off every few minutes and it feels like a joke. The car has done less than 100 km.

This is my parents' car (who are old). I suspect the dealership tried to offload a faulty machine without doing a proper pre-delivery check.

I don't think anyone who is on this forum expects TATA cars to have a subpar driving experience. While their petrol engine options always seem just adequate even then the driving experience remains sorted over all.

But I don't think anyone expects ultra high quality finish from TATA (I would add impeccable quality control here too) either. What we should advise others looking for guidance is that "don't expect industry standard fit and finish and QC from TATA products".

Re: 2023 Tata Nexon Facelift Review

Given the number of niggles / issues faced by owners of the facelifted Nexon, I think this calls for a separate thread in itself. Crazy amount of issues have been reported by our folks and as always, there is no progress or improvement in terms of the QC, the lackluster attitude of some dealers (both Sales & ASS) which includes TATA customer care too.

Issues are being reported by the owners of Harrier & Safari too. Sad.

Maybe it would be a little early, but it surely seems like this is yet another 'hurried' launch by TATA!

I test drove a DCA yesterday observed the same thing - from standstill to D2 directly. So. looks like it is not a one off thing.

As seen in below gif, I am shifting from P to D mode but it directly comes into D2 (skips D1):
Attachment 2527705

Also, below I am stopping car to a complete halt but it remains in D2:
Attachment 2527708

I checked with my SA, he told that this is nothing serious & will get fixed by software upgrade during 1st service which is due after another 1 month.

1. Is anyone else with DCA facing similar issuey
This is not an issue. It has been programmed in the intrest of fuel efficiency.

See below quote from Autocar India

" There is some small amount of vibration from the three-cylinder engine off idle, initial acceleration isn’t strong off the bat and there’s even a hint of judder at low revs if you are heavy on the throttle. This is partly because the seven speed gearbox takes off in second when you are not in City or Eco mode to save fuel."

Relax and enjoy the car.

Hello BHPians, this is my first blog on this forum and I am doubly happy as I join all the petrolheads and share this news, that I bought the new facelift Tata Naxon. So I am going to share my buying experience, why I chose Nexon and first drive impressions of the car. Please bear with me if the post becomes a bit long.
Buying decision

1) was using a MS wagon R earlier despite one of the best reliable engine and gear box, I wanted to have a car which had one of the best build quality, safety and premium features Hence Tata's cars were big on my mind. I visited a few showrooms in Pune just to have a look at the newly launched Nexon, but the buying decision was miles away in my mind.
2) As my wagon R was getting a good resale value i wanted to sell it to cash on the decent price offered and thus the buying decision was made of a new car.
3) I really didn't visit any of the other brands as safety was of utmost importance to me. Hence Brezza, venue and sonet were automatically crossed off the list. The XUV 300 was a very old design with least feature list hence it dropped out too. The only other brand I visited was VW to enquire about Taigun. Taigun was on top of my wishlist, had a great showroom experience there but the budget was not allowing me to go for it as the 2nd top variant the highline was 16 odd lacs which missed a few features that I wanted hence it was off the list too. So the only contender was Nexon left.
4) So I visited the nearest showroom I checked out Altroz petrol top end variant with DCT gearbox I took the car for a test drive and it felt amazing. DCT gearbox was super smooth the car itself felt very premium great build quality and comfort with all the premium feature I wanted. Second. I checked out punch didn't drive it as the interiors of the Punch out my wife off and she likened it to our old wagon r
5) Had detailed look at the Nexon didn't drive it as the dealership didn't have the car with AMT gearbox which I wanted, nevertheless I went through the exhaustive variant list of the Nexon and after thorough discussion with SA and watching infinite vblogs and reviews on YouTube i narrowed down to the creative + S variant which is a 2nd top variant. I was very impressed with the features it offered apart from stunning looks it had all the features which I preferred and ofcourse wanted to have a sunroof as well. The premium ness of interiors and comfortable suspension set up safety and build quality sealed the deal for me. And I booked the the car with the variants exclusive color shade of Ocean blue.
Buying experience-

1) The buying experience from Saibaba autowheels in Pune was satisfactory. Nothing very impressive or going extra mile kind of experience but it was not ordinary or bad either. I had booked the car 2 days before Dusshera I wanted the car delivered in diwali which was not of high expectation but the SA said we will try to deliver in diwali.
2) The dealership made a what's app grp of relevant ppl and shared relevant and often a bit late updates of the status of delivery, though it helped me to keep some pressure on them to deliver the car in diwali.
3) Though the diwali date was missed by them they finally said they can deliver the car next week of diwali after completing all the loan process, 100% payment before car arrival and PDI. Car arrived at the showroom . I did a PDI of the car before registration and a minor scratches which I pointed out to the SA also the door of the boot was not closing. The SA said it will be take care of before delivery. The delivery date was just 2 days away and I was a bit skeptical if they will finish the job before delivery
4) After doing all the "sho- sha" of came cutting and documentation finally got the delivery of the car. The small issues were rectified before the delivery. The delivery experience was good. And after seeing the stunning beauty shining in its glory and the thought of taking the beauty to home was very exciting.
Overall it was good buying experience. The car itself had almost everything I wanted so I was very very delighted.
First few impressions of driving the car mostly in city was very good although the AMT gearbox is not as smooth as a DCT or TC or CVT but it does it's jobs fairly well. My left leg showers all the love on the gearbox.

Driving experience-
1) Well I have driven my car mostly in city and the experience has been quite good. The suspension is neither too soft nor very stiff and hence offers excellent comfort. I have rarely felt any bump of the pothole coming through to the cabin. It has been a very comfortable ride.
2) The AMT gearbox though could have been better not that it came as surprise to me but the gear box has a typical rubber band effect The gear changes are very evident in 1st 2nd and 3rd gears and mostly in eco and city drive modes while in sports mode it settles down a bit.
3) If you want a pure driving pleasure then the AMT gearbox is not for you the best would be manual transmission. But if you can compromise the driving pleasure against comfort and ease of drive then go for AMT. Also I bet the DCT gearbox is much better and since it is a wet clutch transmission it will definitely won't overheat in Indian hot weather. But be ready to shell out a lakh more for it
4) Rest the car is great to drive no complaints at all the engine is smooth a bit noisy but the grunt is good to hear no complaints really.

Following is the feature list of my variant-
1) Rain sensing wiper
2) Autohead lamps
3) 10.25inches touch infotainment system
4) Android and Apple car play wireless
5) 7 inches fully digital instrument cluster
6) TPMS
7) 6 airbags standard
8) electrically adjustable and foldable orvms
9) auto dimming irvm
10) led drls and sequential turn signals
11) led projector headlamps
12) cooled glovebox
13) auto climate control
14) keyless entry and start stop button start.
15) 16 inches alloy wheels.
15 ) voice command operated sunroof
16) blind spot monitor camera reverse and front cameras
17) rear and front parking sensors

What the variant misses out on is

1) rear defogger
2 ) driver armrest
3) passenger armrest
4) ventilated seats
5) fog lamps.

I will test the mileage of the car in coming days the car is solid to drive very well planted on road, very comfortable suspension, camera is the highlight of the car. Overall I think it's a very solid car a bit expensive as I had to shell out 15 lacs on road Pune for it. But very very happy with the decision

I am interested in the Smart Plus model. Any feedback? Usage is 90% city and 10% highway. Will the 5 speed make a drastic difference in mileage?

How useful would be a professional PDI before buying the Tata Nexon? Is anyone facing issues with the Nexon even after doing a thorough PDI or a professional PDI? I am planning to buy the smart plus model but reading some experiences of Nexon owners I feel it like a nightmarish experience

Dear sir,
I believe both "ultra high quality" and "industry standard fit and finish" are subjective terms, as it's not a quantifiable measure.

I prefer the former expression because I find the offered quality on Nexon is decent enough so long you don't nitpick. So if someone goes to tata showroom expecting decent quality, I believe they will be satisfied as long as they carry no "ultra high quality" expectations.

You insist on using the later expression which, I presume, comes from your disappointment at the tata offering. So in your view a person visiting tata showroom shouldn't expect "industry standard fit and finish". I see where you are coming from and I respect that view as well.

But, I see no reason to declare one view better over the other.

As for the "advice", In my post I only have urged the fellow BHPian to take a test drive and decide for himself, rather than making up mind over internet mumbo-jumbo.

Hi, I had done a PDI before getting the delivery of my creative + S AMT petrol Nexon tbh my emphasis was more on exterior than mechanical parts though I had also checked the camera and started the car. I have not been facing any problems with my car it has been a smooth ride till date

Hello,

I personally did not have any chance to drive 5 speed manual but there is an owner review on youtube (link below). You can check that out & from the video it seems owner is happy with 5 speed gearbox as it involves less frequent shifting & getting decent mileage as well.

Re: 2023 Tata Nexon Facelift Review

Hello fellow BHPians, I just saw the news article in which it is mentioned that new Nexon Facelift Creative+S variant catches fire. Does anyone have any more information regarding the same ?

I am planning to book the Creative Plus DCA variant in next few days, and this news has made me question myself for going with the newly launched vehicle.

Try to visit Heritage Manpada service center. There you can get in touch with Mr Sanat. He might help you out.

I genuinely hope that this problem is fixed by the service center with just a quick fix and I don't have to keep connecting to the showroom. Since it seems like they are least bothered by any of this. There is not even a courtesy call. Even missed calls are not returned. I wonder how busy can they be?
