Also do you have any garland of flowers or is the number plate blocking the ADAS sensor? Because it's the FCW and AEB warning light. Do check
The memory seats work some times some they don't. If I press the same button after 1 minute when the car is moving, it does work. So its a completely random issue. Nope, nothing is blocking the adas sensor. Even my number plate is placed so that it does not block the sensor. The FCW and AEB also give these warnings every few days.

Issues in my 2023 Facelift Safari

Adding some more paint defects I found this morning. I'm now extremely disappointed in Tata and the vehicle. I never would have found these if I wasn't looking for them.

During PDI I pointed out several of these spots and the SA told me this was just dust and would be cleaned before delivery. Guess they cleant it so well that they destroyed the paint.

Either the clear coat or the top layer of paint is peeling away.

Rust has started developing on the left rear passenger entryway in the chassis.

Overspray on the roof rail tape/paper/plastic that comes into the boot. This is on both sides. You can also see pinhole on the paint or peeling away of the paint on the right side. (Last image)

Once again, cursing myself for not involving a 3rd party PDI.

I found similar, if not as intensive, paint aberrations on the bonnet and the front of the vehicle. The dealership tried to push for giving it with a polish, but the service manager was adamant on getting this corrected with a fresh paint. I’m glad to have somebody on my side for once. Will have to see how it comes out tomorrow

This feels bad when a fresh manufactured car has such defects. I remember from stockyard visit that bonnet and doors are covered by white sheet when cars reach dealer stockyard.
Do these paint aberrations indicate any shoddy repainting done by dealership to hide a scratch they made while moving vehicles within the stockyard? If these are from factory, then what is the role of Tata PDI and Tata QC?

I felt relieved when we started to get professional PDI services from Zekardo, PDI Boss, Carvaidya, etc. Then dealerships have started to deny third party PDI. I can understand attaching OBD device can lead to ECU issues, so OBD scans could be optional. Dealers denying professional PDI itself is non-professional from my perspective. The person spending his/her hard earned money has every right to check non-returnable product they are buying. Third party PDI denial makes me feel that dealerships know the car has high probability of getting rejected in PDI due to bad Tata QC checks, lack of QC altogether or lack of precautions from dealerships themselves.

Re: 2023 Tata Safari Facelift Review

So, I picked up a Tata Safari Accomplished+ 6-seater variant earlier this month. Let's just say, it's been an adventure.

Mechanically, the car's a beast. But in terms of user-friendly features, it's like stepping back into the early 2000s. Here are some quirks I couldn't help but chuckle at:

1) I was pampered by my Fluidic Elantra, and now switching to Safari's daily quirks feels like a downgrade. It's like going from a smartphone to a rotary phone.

2) The car's devoid of any one-touch features contrary to its claims. Everything requires a hard press or a long press. Want to lower the power window? Long press. Turning off the fan? Very long press. Folding the ORVMs? A hard and long press. Seat ventilation? You must go through three steps to turn it off, whereas my Elantra used to manage it with a single long press. It's a workout!

3) The turn indicators decided to take a break when the infotainment system is off. Yes, you read that right. It's as if they had a union meeting and decided to depend excessively on tech to function. Found out the hard way when my wife tried to restart the infotainment to fix an issue during a drive, and I, the driver, was unable to use turn indicators.

4) You can disable the Auto fold ORVM to save battery from settings, but here's the kicker: they won't unfold when you turn on the ignition (as expected), but they'll still fold when you turn it off. So much for battery-saving efficiency!

There are plenty more tales of woe, all courtesy of some questionable QC. But let's leave it at that for now.

Got my Safari finally today after all the checks. Its a beast on the road, but I found a niggle already - all of a sudden the electronics all have gone blank and restarted, as if the power went off. All this whilr the car was running and I’m not sure if abs etc were on. Resolved by restarting. I hope there arent too many such surprises

Re: 2023 Tata Safari Facelift Review

I am waiting for my safari delivery next week and am in the process of buying essential stuff from amazon like emergency tool, tissue holder, boot organisers, etc. I wanted to know if Safari comes with a tyre repair kit and tyre inflator. Have seen some videos of other tata cars where it was shown as a free accessory but then read somewhere that they are not giving anymore. Someone please confirm!

Re: 2023 Tata Safari Facelift Review

They are standard with the vehicle.

You get puncture fluid and a tyre inflator.

Tata calls this it's "Tyre mobility kit".

My issues are still ongoing and they are contemplating opening the dashboard for fixing the light issues. Apparently no fuses are blown and something is wrong with the wiring or the BCM. Atleast this is what I could glean from the spirited conversations between the PDI manager and the technician.

To keep y'all updated on the list of issues -

The 3rd row seatbelt sensors (the ones that confirm if someone is sitting or not) aren't working and show up as 2 X's in the MID. Realised this only when someone sat in the 3rd row, but a red dot never showed up (they weren't belted as well).

If it comes to opening the dashboard, I have some very choice words for Tata.

If anyone from Tata is reading this, HELP.

Re: 2023 Tata Safari Facelift Review

Hi guys, I’m going to be taking the delivery soon, was thinking of getting some accessories from the dealer. Is Teflon coating any good? Don’t want to spend too much on ceramic/ PPF. Also, is it better to buy the dashcam and footmats from the dealer or should I explore outside? He has a Blaupunkt dashcam for 11K( yet to negotiate though). This is what I plan to get from him:

1. Mud flaps
2. 3D floor matting
3. scuff plate
4. high power led lamp
5. dashcam
6. Teflon coating
7. antirust coating

Thanks in advance!

You should definitely explore outside. There are way better dashcams available and cheaper as well. Coatings as well. I wouldn't trust the dealers on how they actually execute the job. Find out some good workshop and take advice.

Thanks for the reply. So you took the delivery or went for PDI, found issues and are waiting for them to fix it before delivery?
Why don't you escalate the issue to zonal sales head as well as MD desk?
(Shailesh.Chandra@tatamotors.com)

Hope your problems get resolved soon and you get a trouble free vehicle!

My suggestion is to go with above minimal accessories from dealerships.
You can go for Ceramic coat or Teflon coating from dedicated detailing shops. Detailing shops have the expertise on these jobs and will do it better as compared to dealerships
