Re: 2024 Kia Sonet Facelift Review

Pretty irrelevant, but other than the 1.2L variants, the Sonet pricing is eerily similar to the Seltos launch prices back in Aug, 2019.... A segment jump in around 4.5years!

Re: 2024 Kia Sonet Facelift Review

Wasn't this price jump expected on the top variants because of the addition of ADAS tech and other features?

Yes price jump was expected but considering the old platform (since its a mere facelift) only a nominal price increase (~25-30k) was expected. 80K is on higher side and there is no IMT/manual transmission available now.

Re: 2024 Kia Sonet Facelift Review

Decent pricing, but I wish IVT option was available for 1.2l Smartstream engine variants. I mean, there are customers who would want a fuss-free qutomatic transmission, and IVT should be a good proposition, Hope Kia introduces it at later stage.

What nominal increase sir? Specific to Sonet, I booked D-AT in June 22 for around 16L on road. By the time car was delivered in Dec 22, I had to shell out a lakh rupees more. And that was for the same model. No changes. I think ex showroom price was 13.69L at that time.

Considering their quarterly hikes, across all cars across all segments, and newer upgrades, the price increase seems expected. Not justified, but expected.

Just for reference, our Nexon D-AMT top end was 11.4L on road in Jan 20.

Re: 2024 Kia Sonet Facelift Review

Good update, the best best part is that they have reintroduced the MT with diesel. I hope that Seltos & Carens also get the same along with the turbo petrol MT. There are many MT fans in the market and KIA has been forcing them to either go for imt or settle for the less powerful NA petrol in almost all of their cars.

Re: 2024 Kia Sonet Facelift Review

Our Elevate ZX MT's ORT was 17.9 Lakhs in Kerala. This is insane

Nope. The Ex showroom price of Seltos GTX+ is INR 19,97,900, which is INR 5,48,900 more than Sonet GTX+.

Any idea why Kia hasn't launched the HTX+ with the 7 speed DCT ? Or will they do it at a later stage ?

MT's are deliberately being killed even though there is still a market for them & they cost cheaper as well. I was hoping KIA had offered MT + Diesel on GT Line as well minus ADAS. 360 Camera with blind spot monitor is a must feature to have at this price point.

Re: 2024 Kia Sonet Facelift Review

Thanks for a lovely review of a lovely car!

I have never driven (or even sat in) any Kia car. But I intend to take them for a long test drive soon. My father has the 2017 i10 automatic. It is an extremely smooth car. But, at his age, the creature comforts and cameras the Kia cars offer will help his driving. He is 74. We also have a 2015 Nano which we intend to retire now and use the i10 as the beater car instead.

I thought we should explore cars from the Kia stable because they make good quality cars. Yes, they are the same as Hyundais but I think Kia cars look better.

Can you guys please let me know the difference between the Sonet and the Seltos? I can find only two differentiators between Sonet Diesel X-line and the Seltos Diesel X-line - the size of the car itself and ADAS 1 vs ADAS 2. What else does the Seltos offer over the Sonet?

Apologies, if I wasn't clear, I meant the Sonet D AT GTX+ which is 15,49,000/-. Anyway, for Seltos there is no price difference between DCT & D AT GTX+.

Hence, the difference of approx. 5 L on road.

There used to be a time when certain features would be available only in D segment cars. Such a differentiation between segments no longer exists nowadays. So, there is no point comparing the car price across the segments, without fully considering the features they offer.
We should rather be thankful to the car manufacturers, like Kia, for offering all the high end features in a sub 4m car.

Agreeing to the above point.

But If I am spending 1.8 Million Rupees for a manual petrol CSUV, I will definitely consider a next segment Elevate with 1.5L 4 Cylinder NA (in this case) with almost same power and respectable torque figures.

Just my humble opinion
