16 kmpl on highway is good for a new car. You must have driven it quite smoothly.

I am sorry guys, I went overboard by seeing my 3XO not able to drive more than 10kmph.

Anyways, update from my end: Contacted Mahindra RSA on Monday. They allocated it to TVS Auto Assist. Promised to tow the vehicle at 2pm, did not arrive. Mahindra RSA followed up with them and promised for 3pm. No show. Another agreement for 5pm. No show. Ultimately, came in at 6:30pm. Tow person was kind. He drove and loaded the vehicle on the platform. Reached authorized service center at 7:30pm. Few service colleagues were going home, they saw my car and kindly offered a quick inspection help. Within a minute of opening the engine bonnet and the engine lid, they found the wire to turbo-charger (and to one of the cylinder) was bitten by rodents.
I couldn't believe & was shocked because my FIL's Skoda Rapid was parked at the exact parking space for 7 years where I parked my 3XO. These rodents have probably not liked the taste of Skoda plastics and wires, and Mahindra has probably sugar coated these

On Tuesday, the service personnel have taken a look and has quoted about 16k for the wiring harness, 5k labor for fitting + GST. The wiring harness comes as a single unit and hence has to be replaced as a whole. He has ordered it and recons 8-10 working days to get the part delivered.

Today, have triggered claim at Kotak motor insurance and the assessor was at the service station to confirm and approve the case.

All in all, a tiring & time-consuming process.

Next steps: How to avoid another rodent bite?
Options that I could research:
  1. Anti rodent spray from Amazon - 3M and few other companies
  2. Rat repellent ultrasonic device
  3. SS mesh underneath the car
I want to do all of these. I am just worried about the warranty if I install the repellent device myself and also the SS mesh.
People who might have undergone similar issue, can you please suggest what you did to overcome rodent menace?
Thank you.

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

Guys, I am in a bit of a dilemma.

Currently my Baleno Alpha CVT is closing in on 7 years of ownership, with 65000 kms on the odo (largely city driven with about 4 highway rides out of the city a year). Considering a similar usage pattern (ok maybe more miles ), is the 3XO Diesel AMT going to be a worthwhile upgrade?

I really want to experience that 300 Nm torque engine, but am holding back thinking that buying a diesel is not going to be a good idea.

If you really want the experience of a diesel torque, the AMT is not the way to go.
And the AMT unit is not very refined and is jerky. You could prefer the Manual but the footwell is a bit cramped so do check it out during a TD.

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

I am hearing that the prices of the 3XO are increasing by 10k to 30k from 6th October withing 6 months of launch.

They will get more money & still keep the customers hooked. They are clearly taking advantage of the high demand.

My dealer - Sireesh Auto Silkboard Bangalore - says they have delivered AX5L AT Petrol only until bookings made before 20 May. I still have 0 commitment on delivery dates from these folks.

Anyone else who got any news about their vehicles? I booked mine on May 22.

Well I have tried most of the suggestions you must have already searched on this forum from tobacco leaves to wire brush, sprays, phenyl balls and what not. What has kept rodents at bay even during monsoons is a deadly concoction of black pepper powder and red chili powder. Mix them in 50-50 ratio and sprinkle over wires, batteries and areas you feel are more prone. Then get a pepper spray. Cover your face with N95 mask and spray on the areas you sprinkled the powder. That should take care of the rodents for a month.

Do note that you will need to repeat the pepper spray every 3 weeks. This technique has helped me for the longest time and is the most reliable in my opinion.

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

Hi Everyone,

We finally took delivery of our Deep Forest AX7 Diesel Automatic 3XO on September 12th.

The car has clocked around 1500 km so far, with a mix of city and highway drives.
While it’s not a major issue, we’ve noticed that the vehicle pulls to the left when going over grid-style speed breakers.
We've already upgraded the tires to Continental UltraContact UC6 225/55 R17 and had the wheel alignment and balancing done, but the issue persists.

Has anyone else experienced this problem or found a solution?

Note: We have upgraded from a Swift Diesel Automatic

Thanks in advance!

I have the same feeling but even on straight roads. The car just keeps moving to the left all the time. Is it due to banking of the roads? I do not think so. Mine is "Goodyear Assurance Triplethread" tyres. 500kms done.
I will address this issue in the first service.

We reported this issue during the first service. The technician took it for a test drive but said he didn’t notice any pulling and since I accompanied him, I can confirm that no pulling was observed during the drive.
It feels like one of those situations where the problem automatically disappears when the car is with the mechanic, only to return as soon as we bring it back home

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

Review of Mahindra XUV 3XO After Sales Service:

I own the XUV 3XO AX5 Petrol Manual for which I have posted a detailed review in this thread previously. Adding further to it, this is my experience and review of Mahindra after sales service for an issue that I faced with the dashboard rattle noise which was also touched upon in my detailed review post.

Since taking delivery of my car 4 months ago, there has been a minor rattle noise that was coming from the dashboard, specifically behind the infotainment screen. Took the vehicle to Mahindra PPS service center in Kanakapura Road. The technicians at the service center acknowledged the issue during the road test and requested for a few days time to completely diagnose the issue and resolve it. Due to certain factors, the diagnosis took a little longer than expected.

To compensate for this additional time that the car spent at the service center, I was extremely impressed by the service center's gesture wherein they offered to reimburse the cab fare charges for my commutes until I got the vehicle back since they did not have a backup vehicle to lend. On top of this, the staff at the service center proactively kept me updated on the vehicle repair status on a daily basis without me requiring to follow up repeatedly. Extremely professional and courteous, this after sales experience has truly blown my mind.

Very happy to update that the issue has now been completely resolved and it is now a completely silent cabin. Kudos to PPS Mahindra Kanakapura Road staff members Prema, Kavitha, Hemanth and Girish who took care of this with superb levels of attention to detail and professionalism. Could not be more happy to see that Mahindra today has placed such a high level of importance to after sales and service experience and is truly taking care of its customers very well.

Icing on the cake was the software update received for Wireless Apple Carplay much before the initially informed timeline of Nov 2024. It works amazingly well. Zero lag or disconnections in city usage so far. AX5 variant with the wireless charging and wireless Apple Carplay/Android Auto and a host of other features is a testament to its value for money quotient.

Just discovered that Mahindra has overtaken Tata as the 3rd largest car manufacturer in India in Sept 2024 and is inches away from snatching Hyundai's 2nd place. Not at all surprising to see this and I'll confidently say that it is completely well deserved. The importance placed by Mahindra for research and development, continuously improving its products, genuinely listening to customer concerns and quality of after sales and service experience has brought them this success and I hope that they achieve more such records in the coming days!

I have driven my AX5L petrol over 2900 km. Mostly on highways. I have not noticed this problem.
