I mean, not a single stand out feature in this car apart from the so-called coupe design.

I mean people would go and buy the next gen Dzire, Amaze or an SUV than this.
I hear you and understand your perspective. But I would agree to disagree on whether cruise control or any other bells and whistles truly matter.

Looking at Citroen India as an unknown entity, I would as a prospective buyer want to avoid a chunk of the bells and whistles that we have come to expect from other OEMs because those are things than can and will go wrong. We don't know their QC abilities. I'd rather look for driving pleasure (engine, transmission, handling etc.) and play it safe.

Speaking of safety in another sense - their cars either aren't crash-rated or have been proven to be unsafe! Crash safety ratings is a must-have in my opinion, rather than fancy electronics that can all get fried with a strategically placed rat bite, even if let's say Citroen India's quality comes out to be top-notch.

Re: Citroen Basalt Review

Regardless of how many features this car vs the Curvv might or might not have, the space management here is a lot better which would be an ultimate deciding factor for many potential consumers and a major advantage for the Basalt. In contrast, space in the Tata Curvv seems to be severely cramped in the rear seat which is such a shame in an otherwise good looking car.

Re: Citroen Basalt Review

My god, that is a butt ugly car.

No proportions, lines all warped, wheels unders square arches under a coupe style body type. This is the quintessential 'khichdi' product. But i found/find the Maruti Swift Dzire ugly as well, and that is a hot selling product.
So that's not the moot point if the car might or might not sell.

For the larger part of the Indian car buyers the looks are secondary and functionality comes first (i might be wrong, here but there's a clear case for ugly cars doing well). If Citreon can manage the dealer network and subsiding perceptual servicing costs, this unique looking car has a good future.

And its good for the indian car buyer that new companies are coming in and presenting new ideas to the indian car buyer.

Hoping for the best for Citreon.

Re: Citroen Basalt Review

Car configurator on Citroen Website shows you plus and max variants . While you is exclusive to Non Turbo variant, Max is exclusive to Turbo variant. Given that You and plus has difference of 1.6 lakh on c3 air cross, and Turbo and non turbo c3 Feel variant has difference of ~1.4 L, I believe base Turbo variant for Basalt(plus here) would be between 10-11L. Thats Kushaq Taigun territory and base models are equally equipped for those cars.

Looks like it will be NA Variants that will to sell in numbers for Citroen until and unless Turbo starts at 9.xx something.

Re: Citroen Basalt Review

Although the design is similar to the Curvv, it doesn't seem to be competing with the Curvv. The Curvv is rivalling Creta and the likes when it comes to pricing and features while this one seens to be competing with the entry level cars. There are people who would prefer this over the Dzire and Amaze because of the exclusivity and "big car" feeling.

Re: Citroen Basalt Review

Lazy saturday afternoon and I started playing with Basalt configurator. Some of the features that I could figure out but as we all know, configurators may lie.

While it's a great feature, a limited point is, I've had it in my XUV since 2014, but city driving doesn't require it and I've rarely used it on our highways down South, as they seldom permit steady cruising.
So IMHO for a city car, cruise control is mostly redundant and for highways, yes it's a miss but should be not be a big enough miss to say this

Because honestly, Amaze or Dzire at same price point, except for service experience they are hardly comparable.

Re: Citroen Basalt Review

I'm sure Tata Curvv base variant price will not be as close to Citroen Basalt. Or do we have a bout planned out?

Let's wait and watch, good times ahead for buyers.

Re: Citroen Basalt Review

This is the first car after I don't know how many years that I have seen priced just perfect. This even beats the Nano in terms of VFM to be honest. If I had been in the market, I would definitely put my money on this car, nothing beats good drivability. But this car is big and the NA engine is definitely not going to be fun to drive and the mileage will be dismal. I just hope people who buy the base variant don't expect it to feel Mercedes luxury and perform like a BMW car and start ranting about its poor performance and whatnot and then the product nosedives. This is seriously more car per car. I love everything about this car and am so happy the French designers are more intelligent than youtubers (especially that Gagan guy who is openly racist about the French), sunroof lovers can play around with Korean toys while the French stick to man and machine.

From what I can see here the middle 3-point seatbelt is standard from the base variant.

Re: Citroen Basalt Review

Has the top end AT turbo petrol price been leaked or is Citroen testing the waters here?

citroen-basalt-turbo-petrol-at-max-top-variant-price-leaks-via-website.

There is definitely a concerted effort by PR companies to project this as a successful launch (every company does it these days) so I am not sure if this is the actual price or a fake one put out to gauge interest.

I don't know man, I casually said it and Rushlane took it seriously

This was first picked up by bhpian ramki.grandhi in post#16.

Rushlane always has this habit of picking up posts from team-bhp and making it into an article 🤷🏼.

I don't think it was a deliberate leak. Without our bhpian's post, this wouldn't have come to the eyes of general public (especially Rushlane).
