If Mahindra is indeed advertising these as DRLs while expecting folks to operate a switch to turn them on, then it is quite misleading.
Technically Mahindra are not at fault here, as models lower than MX5 don't come with fitted DRLs. The white C-ring is just dummy in lower models.

However in upper variants, Mahindra do give customisation option to the owner whether they want DRLs always on or manual control.

It is only when the lower variants get their headlamps changed to upper variant ones, they don't have option for always on (till now atleast).

I am fully aware of the ladder on frame build and therefore a comparison to monocoque from a ride comfort perspective is not comparable, what has been your/your family experience so far from a ride comfort perspective? Have they felt that they are being thrown around a lot? Would be great to get your prespective. Thank you.
Hi Shiva, my AX5L D AT RWD was delivered on 06.12.2024 at Noida. Wireless Apple Carplay has been working since day 1. The Sales Advisor was clueless and had said that I will get it as a software update. It appears that M&M is paying for the license fee in tranches. My vehicle must have been in that batch. Fret not, you will surely get it eventually or perhaps like me from the factory.

Sadly it is only the top-end version i.e. AX7L that doesn't have working Apple CarPlay, AX3L and AX5L have it working from day 1. Even after follow-ups, I haven't been able to receive a satisfactory response when the update is coming for AX7L.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

Has any tested the power rating of the auxiliary 12 V power outlet (Cigarette lighter port) in Thar roxx . My air compressor which draws around 15 amps doesnot run from that port but surprisingly it works fine when connected to my alto k10.

Do you have the OE tyres to check? Just the front ones will be sufficient. Check those with and without a spacer and see if there is a difference.

Nevertheless, I don't think a spacer on a hub is the right way. If you look closely at the hub, there is a seating that guides the OE wheel. When we put the spacer, this does not function.

ProMan guys should be able to ship to you directly with or without charge - You can reach out to them at 9310273922. 30 mm costs Rs 14900. You can use 20 mm in front but at the rear 30 mm is a must as I have described earlier. Alternatively, most tyre shop sellers can get you at similar rates. They do good quality and I won't look elsewhere.

That would have been ideal, but unfortunately don’t have OE wheels or tyres to check. Have spoken to Madhu’s here in Bangalore, will be visiting them tomorrow; will keep this forum posted.

Hello, I feel like I’m missing something here? Do you mean that we should only get hub centric spacers or not get spacers at all as they interfere with this seating?

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

Apple Carplay is not available on my AX7 AT 4x4 too as of now.

When you go on Carplay website, it states Thar from 2020-2024 and no Thar Roxx.

Certification might be pending.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

Hi,

I have the following questions

1. Can I consider Roxx Diesel AT as my daily vehicle? My daily run will not be more then 5-10 kms and however my return trip to office is 50 kms - Delhi to Gurgaon which would be twice or thrice in a week. My highway is trip less than 1000km in a month, however occasional trip to parents in Jaipur would be a factor.

2. If above is answered as a yes, what is the fate of Diesel vehicle in Delhi and would BS7 norms in 1-2 years put a dent in my purchase and also considering the GRAP norms which comes in winters and govt. loves to ban diesel vehicles - BSIV. I am upgrading from Verna Diesel (1.6) MT 2015 BS IV and I couldn't take my car out due to these norms due to a challan amount of INR 20,000. Would this happen to BS VI diesel vehicles in 1-2 years when BS7 kicks in and they put a limit on BS VI Diesel vehicles under GRAP norms like they did for BSIV Diesel vehicles. My question may pose as far fetched but being the only vehicle, I have this concern.

3. Should i listen to my head and go for petrol hybrid such as GV or Hyryder and enjoy smooth 15 years without worrying about GRAP measures or fate of diesel vehicles in NCR? Would GV and Hyryder be an upgrade from1.6 CRDI unit of Hyundai.

Any other recommendations are welcome. My requirement is very simple, good average - Verna still gives 22kmpl if driven in a sedate manner despite being a 1.6 unit and fun to drive - I still sometimes have to an eye on speedometer to avoid any speed ticket.

There are generally two different types of spacers-

1. Slip-On Spacers

Simple metal discs that slide over the hub, sitting between the hub and the wheel. Usually in thinner sizes (3mm to 10mm). We may need longer wheel studs or bolts! If these are thick, there will be no guiding seat.

2. Bolt-On Spacers

These are mounted to the hub and come with their own set of bolts and have additional studs for mounting the wheels. We must Torque these more than the wheel and use a thread locker. The best is to restrict to the smallest possible width for a mix of aesthetics and functionality.

Then we have Hub Centric and Lug Centric Wheels. In the case of Lug-centric, we should use hub-centric rings. So depending on the alloy type, we may have to use these additionally.

I have got a Hub Centric wheel spacer/ adapter. What Jayhawker probably has is slip-on wheel spacers.

Some additional info.

Hub rings, can be installed on lug-centric wheels, filling the gap between the bore and the hub. This effectively centers the wheel around the hub rather than the lugs. While hub rings aren't required, they can help eliminate any high-speed vibrations by creating a seamless bond between your vehicle and your new rims.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

Hello All,

My AX7L D AT RWD has been assigned, and now I am in a dilemma, for the reasons mentioned below, whether to go for this variant/vehicle. I request other members to provide their views.

Initially, I planned to exchange my wife's Celerio for this variant, but since there was no definite delivery commencement date from the dealer, we purchased a Baleno just last week. I know we can't compare these vehicles, but I was looking for a reason to have a Thar in my garage.

Now that this variant is available, I am in a dilemma about whether to exchange my 2016 2.8Z Crysta for this variant. I am not sure whether this will be a proper upgrade to the Innova Crysta or if the ride will be as comfortable as the Innova. Also, I generally drive at 100-120 km/h, so I am wondering whether there will be a lot of wind noise in the Thar.

Another option is to wait for the BE9 EV launch and then exchange my Innova for that variant. I know it is a heart vs. mind decision. My heart still wants the Thar.

The other option is to get the MX3 P AT to satisfy my Thar craving, along with my Innova. It will be an extra stretch financially, but I could have both worlds.

I request other members to provide their views.

I am a little technically challenged when it comes to understanding this. In layman's terms, if I want to go for spacers on my stock AX7L tyres and alloys then is Proman a safe and reliable choice?

Proman seems to be the popular choice. I've only seen spacers like 30mm. Wheels will extend much outside the body with these spacers. With your current spacer setup, you Roxx looks perfect. Check if Proman makes suitable spacers in 10mm else you'll have to go for higher thickness.

One thing to consider when using 10mm or similar spacers is that you are loosing thread thread engagement by that much. From what I've read, thread engagement should be at least 6 turns or at least more than bolt diameter. If the lug nuts are not engaging this much, you should change to longer lugs or different spacers.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

First service of Thar Roxx is a mixed bag for me. I booked the service for 9th Jan 2025 11:00 AM through the app. I got many reminders from the service center to confirm my visit which was reassuring.

I reached the service center at 10:50 AM. I was told to wait for 10-15 minutes in the reception area. At 11:10 the service executive came and explained the process to me. I received a message to approve the invoice with finish time as 12:45PM. Other than free service, two other jobs were mentioned there:

1. BOD-0800 ROOF CONSOLE ASSY - R NR
2. RET-0004 AT OIL LEAK INSPECTION FROM QFC

I asked the service executive about them. He told me these are the actions taken by the company from time to time. I asked him to explain these actions to which he told me that I will be explained by the person who attend the vehicle.

The car was taken to the service bay and lifted. The nut-bolts were tightened. Lights, horn, wiper and windows functioning were checked. Washer fluid was topped. Engine oil was checked.

I had a question regarding the placement of the jack which the person explained in detail. I also got the SD card installed in the car. Much appreciated.

After this the vehicle was taken outside for the cleaning. I asked another supervisor, what else is left? He told me just the washing.

I didn't see the other actions happening(specially Roof console related) so I asked my service executive. He said he will look into this. In the meantime my car was getting cleaned. Few minutes later I received another invoice with a finish time of 2:45PM. I asked the service executive why the delay. He told me that the overhead console which needs to be replaced is not available for which I have to wait or come back tomorrow.

Leave alone the mishandling of the situation. My doubt is, had I not asked about the action items, I would have given the cleaned car and a goodbye.

I asked the Workshop Manager, I had booked in advance(they reminded me multiple times also) why have they not brought the item from storage. Long story short, the Workshop Manager offered to get the item replaced at my home the next day. Let's see how it goes.

Good thing is the staff was courteous and friendly. Other than this issue everything else was fine.
