Ironical! YouTube is full of delivered ROXX, even modified ones! And we are waiting for the first here and most waiting here have no clue! And there wasn't another way to do fastest finger first, that we know of!

Even if some people have got calls, it's from dealers without any communication directly from Mahindra, which is weird too.

Looks like this was a strategy to give out to some for publicity purposes in the initial 2 weeks or rather let dealers manage initial batches, which may make business sense! Maybe not ethical sense though.

While we know dealers having field day manipulating bookings, it also has to do with the variant. Nearly all YTubers have got MX5 and reading through the comments, TBHP community has fewer of those booked. Infact our first member getting the delivery shortly is a MX5 variant.

As per my SA, Mahindra is planning a batch delivery event around Diwali, which is likely holding most deliveries back. Mahindra has clearly provided a list of bookings for these deliveries, so the dealer probably has no say beyond informing customers and arranging for financials.

I assume most of the 4x4 vehicles booked by BHPians will have Mocha interiors, so we’ll likely start hearing more about those deliveries in January.

In my quest for the Roxx, I visited three different dealerships in Pune. The first visit was on the day the test drives started, the second about a week later, and the third a couple of days ago. It’s business as usual after the second week— all the hype and rush for TDs settled within a week. Now, it’s high time Mahindra stops chasing publicity and focuses on deliveries.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

My booking is no longer showing on booking portal for about 1 week now for AX7L RWD AT. This booking was done on 3rd October and confirmed. I have been following with bookingsupport email and Mahindra account on X.com to find out what is going on with my booking.

Finally, after multiple follow ups, the dealership called, and it looks like they have used incorrect name against my booking.

I do not know how customer details can be incorrect, when I provided correct details during booking. I feel the dealership software allows booking changes and allocating the car to someone who is buying inflated insurance and accessories from the dealerships.

But for now, the Thar Roxx is set to be our next ride—bumpy roads and all!

PS: The views expressed are personal and do acknowledge that the reference to the Tucson may not be comparing apples to apples.
Sometimes in life, you are at a stage where you need to listen to your heart more than your head.

Yes, there are better family oriented SUVs at the same price point.

Yes, there are SUVs with better driveability, ease of driving and comfortable and well tuned suspension.

Yes, there are SUVs that are lighter on the pocket, both in terms of upfront purchase cost and running costs (Fuel efficiency, yearly insurance premiums, regular service costs and general maintenance).

Yes there are family oriented SUVs that one do not throw their passengers all over the place due to lateral movement, to the point of making rear passengers feeling weird.

Yes there are SUVs and crossovers that offer far more reliable electricals and mechanicals with better reliability record.

BUT, you live only once. The THAR has great road presence, a macho image which no other SUV or pseudo SUV or Crossover can match (Not even the Scorpio N) in that price range. The Aura of the THAR is something that is unmatchable and that alone would be the reason I would consider the Thar 5Door over its competitors.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

I have some news regarding the delivery situation.

Gave a call to my sales guy and asked what was happening.
He said that they have MX5 in stock, and they are getting delivered. An AX5L has just arrived, a sole unit they got.

He said that Mahindra hasn't billed them any AX7L as of yet. He also said that there won't be any new Roxx coming this month to the dealer as Mahindra has stopped the entire billing for the Roxx as of now.

25th October is the day when they would get any clarity from the company regarding the delivery schedule.

I had booked AX7L 2WD AT from the dealer anticipating a delivery during the festivities but that's thrown under the bus now.

I don't think there will be any magical announcement happening on the 25th. Unlike me, please keep your expectations in check.

But then why would Mahindra not directly communicate to the customer, 'we have allocated a car against your booking'?

Anyways, that's how these things work, its just been too long since 15th of August to 3rd of Oct, to now 22nd without any information. The date of 25th was only communicated post making the booking on the 3rd.

Anyways, coming back to the moot point of all the discussion here, 'Ride Quality'. Recently, I rode a Fortuner rear seat for a good length on urban Delhi roads (and flyovers), and oh boy! If this is the Fortuner people are crazy for at 50+L, Roxx's ride is very very acceptable in comparison.

Just came back from taking another short TD and doing the first PDI of my unit. Its technically not a PDI because I will check another time before the actual delivery.

The car was brought from the stockyard and they did a quick cleaning before showing it to me. The bangalore rains had some effect on the exterior cleanliness which of course will be cleaned and polished before delivery.

The odo showed 30 kms, and given the stockyard is 10-11 km from the showroom, I found it acceptable. Checked engine and chassis no. and they were matching with the details shared by SA beforehand. The interior had some faint marks on the body which will be cleaned. The seat covers were on , so that's a relief.

Checked out the exterior and it was acceptable. Sitting inside, checked almost all the features and they were working. Apple carplay is not rolled out for now, but android auto got connected fast and smooth. Took about 45 mins for the PDI. SA accompanied us and didn't rush us at all.

Now coming to the delivery, the situation is interesting. Even though the cars have reached the showroom, he's not able to commit any date. What he said is that on 25th everything will be clear. When asked that some other dealers in other parts of the country have started delivering, he said he doesn't know how they are managing , but this is what it is in their dealership. He also hinted there might be a mass delivery program for a PR event. I am in no rush so I didn't push him too much and it's already Oct 22nd anyway. Most probably by Diwali weekend the car will be ready if all things go well, including registration.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

Hello,

I received a payment failed message at 11:05 am while booking. Made another attempt and got the booking confirmed at 11:11.

Followed up with Mahindra support for refund, and also checked with my bank.

Initial response from bank and Mahindra support was that if the payment failed, I will get the refund within 15 days.

On 16 Oct 2024, Mahindra support calls up and say that the payment was accepted by Mahindra, however they could not provide a booking confirmation against that payment (problem at their end). The person mentioned that I will get refund, & I asked him to send either an email or a SMS to have official notification for the same.

I have not received refund so far.

Calls to Mahindra support are replied with a standard statement, WE WILL ESCALATE WITH THE BOOKING TEAM.

In this age of advanced programming and AI etc, the IT companies still struggle, specially when the product offered and IT assistance provided are owned by the same group. I assume, TechMahindra must be the IT company providing assistance for online booking, and this not something that happened to Mahindra for the first time.

As per customer service executives at Mahindra support, there is a large volume of failed payments that they have to refund.

What do they do with this money holding it for so many days, how do they get authorisation for holding money for so long.

For me, if its a company's product and its their own preferred IT systems, so stating that THE RESPONSE TO THE PRODUCT WAS OVERWHELMING is not acceptable, specially when all the hype was created to have an overwhelming response and this is not something new.

Cheers

Agreed. Of course I might be biased since I am buying this car, but I feel the hoopla about ride quality is a lot more about perception than reality. Maybe the mindset is that it's a Thar, so it has to be bumpy . We then drive over potholes during TDs where a sorted sedan itself will feel bumpy and then conclude "yeah I was right, the ride quality isn't good".

Again it might not be as plush as a 700, but certainly can hold its own when it comes to good ride quality.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

For the undecided especially worrying about the ride quality compared to the Creta, please watch this review. Just focus on the section where ride quality is discussed about and my observations are close to the reviewers findings. Creta is the benchmark for me atleast when it comes to the ride quality in this suv/csuv range around 16-23 lakhs. Very good review.

Interestingly, the Mahindra handle on X responded publicly to a DM I sent them specifically asking for an update on my booking.
They just included some vague, generic stuff about Supply Chain, First In and First Out, as if we didn't already know that. I really do not understand how the booking and allotment process works!

So during my TD, I did feel the difference in ride quality quite clearly -- I was quite surprised by the vertical movement on the Thar on a concrete road (it's not that noticeable on tarmac). I have driven regularly on the same concrete road in a sedan and monocoque SUV, and the Thar was noticeably more bumpy.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

Heard from a little birdie that the AX7L 4x4 production will only begin from November. Only the media and test drive units were produced for now.

No idea why this delay exists - but I really hope that Mahindra does not increase the prices before deliveries for those begin
