Re: 2024 Hyundai Alcazar Facelift Review

Took testdrive today again for approx an hour covering 30Km in medium to dense traffic on Bellandur to KR Puram strech and back. Ride experience and comfirt was excellent. We could barely feel any engine hum or noise in cabin. Even tyre noise was minimal when driving at 40+ kmph. Me and my wife didn't felt any discomfort throughout the journey.

DCT transmission worked like charm. Gear shift were silent with no jerk. It took some effort to pull up after braking in traffic. May be it has to with turbo lag and efforts from Hyundai to finetune transmission and engine response in traffic to avoid DCT heating or stalling. Gear tried to stay at D2 even when slowing down to crawling speed, to minimize gear shifts from D2 to D1 and then back to D2, which I liked actually. Mostly it was going to D1 when speed was brought to 0. Engine temperature stayed same during the 1 hour drive.

At the sametime, we could hardly notice how efficiently it picked up speed on a small open stretch and shifted to D6 in no time.

Got a mileage of 11 at the end of drive. It was a mix of medium to heavy traffic.

In previous testdrive of 8KM with mostly traffic got mileage of 9 KMPL.

Thanks to Trident Hyundai Electronic City to help with the testdrive request. I found Mr Vinod highly professional and customer friendly.

Re: 2024 Hyundai Alcazar Facelift Review

So I am currently in the market for a four wheeler and this one has come up has one of the strong contenders.

Currently, I am only able to find Alcazar and XUV700 as having a 6/7 seater configuration and ADAS. Anything else that meets this criteria is very pricey. OK, I am going to ignore the tata cars because of ASS issues.

I would really like it if kia just updates the carens to have a dualpane sunroof and adas.

Am i missing any other cars in the around sub-30L market that has 6/7 seats and ADAS?

The XUV700 has ADAS in its top AX7L variant. There are a lot of discounts available right now, and you can get the car for under 30L. It features a larger engine, bulletproof safety, a rugged and incredible street presence, and a more usable third row.

Alcazar is strictly 5+2 (5 adult, 2 children only in 3rd row) seater. Even the Alcazar salesperson has acknowledged that 3rd row is suitable for kids only when I went for a test drive and vehicle experience at the showroom. If you want to use the car as 5-seater only, Alcazar 7-seater will give you plenty of room in boot with 3rd row folded to keep your luggage. Alcazar has smaller footprint than XUV700.

Go for XUV700 AX7 or AX7L if you want usable 3rd row and good leg room in 2nd row. Both AX7 and AX7L come with similar ADAS features. AX7L has Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with stop and go which can be useful on highways as XUV will decrease the speed to crawling speed also if vehicle in front goes below 40kmph.

I waited for Alcazar facelift and took 3-4 test drive of both previous gen (DCT and Diesel AT) and new Alcazar (DCT only) before finalizing XUV700.

Excellent review. I must say that this design is much better than the last one. I was hoping for Hyundai to give better engine plus gearbox options as that will really give Alcazar an edge over its competitors. But looks like Hyundai has other plans.

Re: 2024 Hyundai Alcazar Facelift Review

I test drove both XUV700 diesel and DcT alcazar. Both me and my better half finalized Alcazar for compactness, top model to top model saving of 3.5 lakhs, more useful boot with all rows, and specially the bad tuning of Xuv 700's Auto diesel for city usage (it held lower gears making too much noise). We both being teachers also liked less bulky design (read less intimidating). Besides our smooth experience of exter also helped. Didnt consider Xuv 700 petrol.

Re: 2024 Hyundai Alcazar Facelift Review

Booked the new Alcazar Petrol DCT Signature in Atlas White after comparing it with ScorpioN and XUV700.

Rejected SN because of wobbly middle row ride on highways n slow bad city roads, as with typical BoFs.

XUV700 was impressive on all fronts, but rejected solely due to its size and my reluctance in living with a car with higher probability of niggles at such a price point.

Meanwhile Alcazar does good in all the things without excelling in any of them (except luxury and quality) and that fits my bill.

Re: 2024 Hyundai Alcazar Facelift Review

So, I checked out the 2024 Alcazar again with my wife. We were looking for the captian seat variant. I tried getting into the third row, and the ONLY way is to go in between the captian seats in the second row. The third row is not suitable for anyone with a medium or a large frame. Strictly small frame or teens. I would not want to be seen by anyone climbing inbetween the seats and then do a yoga to reach the seats, it not at all flattering. It really is a mess. Hyundai really dropped the ball with the captian seats and third row combo. There are other vehicles in the market that has reclining and folding second row captian seats and they could have implemented that. This method of going into the 3rd row is just stupid.

Here have a look at the xuv700 with the captian seats and how it tumbles for access to the third row.

The captian seat variant is actually just a 4 seater with a really useful big boot. No one with a larger family is going for this car for sure.

Those tan interiors look superb. To me, tan/brown interiors instantly make a car look and feel more premium on the inside. Wonder if it's possible to swap out the white panels in the Creta with the ones in the Alcazar?

Both the seats in pre facelift Alcazar 6-seater could be tumbled down completely as seen in Autocar India Alcazar review.

My assumption is that the tumble mechanism was removed due to the ventilated seat mechanism. I looked at Safari 6-seater videos on YouTube and also see that Safari captain seat does not tumble down also.

Hyundai can provide 6 seater non-ventilated seat option in Platinum variant. Platinum does not contain ventilated seats in front row also. This could be good option for people who are looking for middle row captain seats which can tumble down completely.

Re: 2024 Hyundai Alcazar Facelift Review

Finally the car (Petro DCT Signature 7 seater, Starry night color) has arrived in Dealer stock yard on Sohna Road. SA was so courteous and accommodating right from reaching showroom to leaving from dealer stock yard and through out the PDI. This courteous environment is something I missed during my visit to Mahindra showroom earlier. Did the thorough PDI for more than an hour using extensive Team-bhp pdi checklist. Delivery planned for 11th, Friday this week. Will share the experience post delivery
