Re: 2024 Hyundai Alcazar Facelift Review

Finally took delivery of my new Hyundai Alcazar Signature DCT Petrol

Background: The Ford Ecosport was the only car I ever wanted so bad and I fell in love with it the moment it was launched in 2013. Mars Red it was. So in 2015, I used all my savings and a bank loan to bring home the cheapest Ecosport variant, but in my favourite Mars Red colour.
I can go about saying what a great car it is and how much it has given me joy and happiness, but it's an Ecosport, everyone knows what a great car it has been.

They say that a picture speaks a thousand words, so I will let the below pic do the talking and save my fingers from typing:
(My WhatsApp status On the day I sold it)2024 Hyundai Alcazar Facelift Review-screenshot_20241010150929.png

Reasons for a new car:
1. Lot of driving in the past year and the Ecosport was showing its age.
2. Lack of safety equipments. Although I never felt the lack of it as I am a sedate driver, still it had started to play in my head because of more highway driving.
3. A bit of a new car itch after 9 years.

Shortlists (already mentioned in my previous post):
1. Scorpio N: cancelled due to bouncy ride.
2. XUV700: Cancelled because it's prone to niggles and also its a bit old and a size too big for me in the city.
3. Alcazar: Fits my usecase.
Have I fallen in love with it the way I did with the EcoSport? No.
Then What do I love about the Alcazar? Nothing at all, but there is not a single point which I hate. AND THAT I LOVE

Good old pen and paper helped me decide :

This page underwent a lot of updates in the next few days

Finally decided the Alcazar after multiple test drives. The Hyundai folks were very courteous and professional as opposed to Mahindra guys and that gave a bit more confidence as well to decide as I was confused between the Hyundai and XUV700. As for me peace of mind and a niggle free product is also a "luxury".
Decided the Atlas White colour as I felt that the white brings out the contrast to the dark chrome and headlight details more that the darker colours.

Took delivery on 10/10 (which the car is for me)

2024 Hyundai Alcazar Facelift Review-img20241010wa0030.jpg

The interiors are the best both in terms of colours and features. Feels extremely premium.
The seats are comfortable and all the controls are ready to reach. The ventilated seats are a boon and so is the feature where the driver seat automatically moves back to free up space to disembark when you open the front door. The seat goes to its original set position when you press the ignition button.

Looks different from the rear as well. Palisade-ish maybe:

Have driven around 200kms since delivery, sedate driving shows 16kpl on the dash and on the city shows 8-ish. But these are initial numbers with very small sample size so won't dwell much into it. Will share more information in upcoming months.
It's just me and my wife for now hence won't talk about the 3rd row seats, but passenger have praised the 2nd rows for its recline feature and comfortable headrests.
Will share more details soon.
Cheers.

Best view for me:

Congratulations on your White Signature DCT Alcazar. I hope Alcazar will tug your heart just like Ecosport eventually.

Have you bought 6-seater or 7-seater?
When I took test drive of Alcazar facelift, ventilation from front seats felt inferior as compared to Creta test drive car. How are ventilated seats performing in your new car?
Do you feel lag or lack of power when driving in bumper to bumper traffic?

Thank you! I bought the 7seater as I found it more practical for my needs.
I drove the Creta as well and didn't notice any difference in seat ventilation between the two. In my car it working well, I drive keeping it at level 1 now as it's not that hot outside and i feel it working.

Yes, feeling of "lack of power" and initial torque in bumper to bumper traffic is there and it's normal DCT behaviour from what I know. There is no initial rush, I have been mild on the throttle as well since it's new. But once u pick up slight speed (10-15kmph), it pulls and pulls.

Well, that's called the homework in truest sense Congratulations on taking delivery. Keep posted on DCT experience once you cross 1000KM.

Even I had similar feedback from my testdrive of Alcazar DCT. DCT is intentionally tuned to behave lazy at low speed to avoid heating issues in bumper to bumper traffic and gives a laggy feel. However, just like you mentioned, once it went past 10-20 KMPH, in no time it will reach 60, even on a small open stretch in city, without any of us realizing.

Re: 2024 Hyundai Alcazar Facelift Review

Can current Alcazar owners please post the RC details on “unladen weight” of the vehicle?

I wish to compare the weights of pre-facelift & facelifted Alcazars?

The 2024 Creta feels heavy & solid while I noticed nothing of that sort in the facelifted Alcazar. It is however a VERY well-balanced car !!

Thanks in Advance!!

Re: 2024 Hyundai Alcazar Facelift Review

I checked out the Alcazar facelift today @Lakshmi Hyundai Hyderabad. Had to pickup my kid from school, so couldn't do a test drive, but did get time to take ample videos and photos.

First impressions

I have always liked the Alcazar and now I feel it looks more matured and much more different than the Creta, which is a good thing going for it. The prices have reduced as compared to the old Gen and things have only got better. Here is a tracker to track the changes/updates between the OLD Gen and NEW Gen

Here is the price list for Hyderabad

I have done a walkaround of the Display vehicle in the showroom and tried to cover most of the details in the limited time I had, so hope you like the video.

I also took loads of Pics, here you go.

Congratulations on your new car. Hope it creates similar memories as your ecosport (somewhat hard though !)

Slightly Off topic, but I am looking to buy a used ecosport sometime next July. I intend to use it as a stop gap measure for around 2 years, post which I will upgrade to a bigger car. My usage in these two years would be extremely low at around 300 km per month. I have used a ecosport S in the past for about 3.5 years and I absolutely loved. I wanted to know what kind of troubles you got due to the age of car ?

Re: 2024 Hyundai Alcazar Facelift Review

A very strange decision to not give Panoramic sunroof and spare tyre on Diesel variants.

The showroom guys stated that it is to save weight, but is it actually true? Diesel cars are so frugal, will a few kgs, really make a difference. I was trying to find the real reason and after a few minutes of discussion, he opened up and shared that there is a possible chance of Hyundai discontinuing Diesel engines from its complete line up. He added that nothing is certain as of now, but there are possible talks in higher management of HYUNDAI INDIA.

They might follow the footsteps of Maruti, VW, Skoda and Honda. But, I feel that they will loose their 2nd place in India car sales, as Mahindra and Tata will surely take over.

Thanks for your words.
Mine was a petrol Ecosport and you should also consider a petrol as your running is so low.
I didn't face many issues in these 9 years. Towards the end apart from the basic maintenance items there was a sound coming from the front suspension because of which I had to change the linking rod and few bushing. That was the only thing out of the ordinary items.
It's a very mechanically sorted car and should serve you well for years.
Just make sure u have a good Ford service center around and a good rapport with the workshop guys and you should be sorted.
Cheers.

As explained in the MotorInc review, I’m not embedding the video here since playback is disabled on other websites; weight indeed seems to be the reason. Essentially, it’s more about managing the perception of 20.xx fuel economy versus 19.xx. In my opinion, while it could lead to bad PR, I wonder if it would have really mattered, considering the smaller buyer segment for the Alcazar.

Re: 2024 Hyundai Alcazar Facelift Review

After shortlisting XUV 700, I wanted check out Alcazar. I contacted two Hyundai dealerships- Koncept and Himagiri.

However, after interacting with Salesperson I noticed a lack of enthusiasm to sell Alcazar by salesperson. Now I understand why Alcazar is such a slow seller.

P.S
In long run such attitude will back fire on company with Mahindra and Tata inching towards number 2 Hyundai needs to buckle up.
For time being, I have decided to postpone buying any new vehicle.
