It follows Tata's new design language. When you look at the front, it appears similar across models like Harrier, Nexon, Safari, and now the Curvv.

It’s really a mice car from the looks of it, but many people I know really dislike the looks of the Curvv. Plus, niggles and new Tata products go hand in hand, I’d wait a bit before buying it.

Thanks for the excellent review. I could not figure out Which segment does the Curvv compete with, Nexon or Creta or somewhere in between? Who will be the prospective buyer for this car? It neither has space nor refined peppy engine nor a good DCT gearbox. It will be very interesting to see how Indians respond to this new segment.

I believe even TATA knows they have lesser chances in the 4.3m segment (ruled by Creta/ Seltos and dominated by some excellent products). So they have come up with a unique option. I dont expect it to sell more than 5000 units per month unless it turns out to be a niggle free, reliable product.

When I look at the Curvv and even Basalt, i get a feeling that they are trying to compete against the Ciaz/Dzire segment. i believe both these brand think that small sedan segment is as good as dead against the 'go-SUV' trend and that is why the emphasis on Coupe.

Its supposed to compete with Creta/Seltos segment. Tata tried to do something different to standout in the segment.

But unfortunately like you mentioned it doesn't excel in any one department. And then will come the traditional Tata related niggles/ASS horrors.

Even for a customer who walks in to purchase Curvv will definitely have a look at the lower model of Harrier/top model of Nexon and get that based on his priorities.

I don't see a good future for this car.

I have test driven Diesel CURVV Accomplished +A, found it similar to Nexon with bit of changes. I own a Nexon for last 5.5 years, so driving it was a near home experience. You sit a bit higher in this car thanks to 18 inchers and ride is good on Tarmac, but u can feel the rough patches. I have booked myself an Accomplished + S in white color. People may have different opinion regarding TATA here. but my experience has been good with TASS, much better than Mahindra's.

Hi, Can you tell how much more or less spacious did you find it compared to your Nexon? Is it a considerable upgrade for an existing Nexon owner?

Exactly my question. I am a Nexon owner of similar duration (5.5 years again to be precise) and owns a Diesel AMT. I am very much interested in Curvv Diesel DCT though depreciation value in my Nexon may put a good financial burden on my finances actually.

Am I the only one who thinks that Curvv design is going towards sedan and the coupe look is not visible clearly? Did they elongate the tail too much or elevate the back side which is making it look different? Just my perception.

I think it looks like Nexon/Punch from the front and Tigor from the sides . I've always viewed these so called coupe SUVs as jacked up sedans.

Question, what is the backseat like for 3 adults? Also, can we replace the rims in the higher variants with some other rims? Also any interior options beyond that shade of wine?

For the first since a long time, Tata has come up with poor launch. Tata sells because each one of their vehicles has a USP along with being practical.

a) Safari/Harrier - Modern, Big SUV feel, space with potent diesel engine from Fiat.
b) Punch - Safari/Harrier on a budget. Unique looks combained with practicality of a hatch

Only thing going for Currv is its unique look. It will sell for that. But the vehicle in itself has too many weak links. Be it engine/space. Pricing is not that competitive neither.
Mahindra will overtake Tata soon. Deservedly so. They have a very distinct advantage over them when it comes to engines. And their overall service experiance is better as well in comparison.

+1. This is the same thought which I have in mind. The power figures are almost identical but there is substantially higher torque being churned from the new Hyperion mill. IMO, Tata has not offered the non-GDI version for the review.
The other point is the gearbox choice for the AT version. Why would they not try say a traditional TC for driving seamlessness. But still DCT is a step ahead from the AMTs
