I don't think you can owe a 3+ kmpl difference only to petrol brand. Expressway runs give better fuel efficiency than day to day runs. Was that a factor as well? Please elaborate regarding driving cycles as well. |
Thanks @Geo_Ipe, for the inputs.
To answer your question - it was Mumbai-Pune expressway, then Pune-Satara-Karad-Kolhapur in addition to Wai & Other interiors, then Pune- Bhimashankar-Mumbai
That overall trip clocked the 3 KMPL difference.
I compared that to earlier round trips made on Mumbai-Pune expressway with BP/HP/IO petrol which was around 19 KMPL on the same vehicle.
So yes, I do think its the fuel.
Ambani is on expansion mode in Retail fueling, so quality may be maintained (at least for several months till he grabs the market share - typical Ambani approach). Plus, they were also selling fuel Rs. 3 liter cheaper till 2 months back.

Experienced the Dazzling New Dzire- Impressive!
I'm old enough for a generation where gizmos matter more than actual driving but I'm from a generation for whom driving a good old manual car gives sheer happiness than riding a video game parlour on 4 wheels:)! |
We are alike. No matter which sophisticated automatic I drive, nothing gives the joy of pushing the clutch and slotting the gear. While overtaking, there is no better joy than pulling a gear down and giving the throttle.
Now, when it comes to DZire vs. Amaze, it is good to have confusion because both have reliable engines, decent dynamics, and a solid trust layer that most modern cars cannot associate with.
Leaving aside the power, features, look, and safety, it is the DZire that would be light on the knees with its clutch and suspension, that offers comfort and a tireless driving experience. I own the new Glanza. Trust me, nothing beats Glanza in the driving comfort. I frequently travel in XUV700 to Bangalore. But the comfort that Glanza offers is unmatched. While Honda would offer good suspension, it cannot equal or beat DZire for sure.
Hands down DZire would be the car if you choose comfort over power. As you mentioned, 100 KMPL is easily achievable on highways and given the reckless driving, diversions and constructions around on NH, 100 would be sufficient.
My Glanza is athletic to 120 KMPH without breaking a sweat. I have pushed it to 145 and have driven at 140 for stretches without any issues. But, you can feel it isn't comfortable at such speeds and would plead with you to drive below 120. I would say DZire would act similarly but at slightly lower speeds. It may easily reach 100 and manage to be cruised at 120, but not beyond that.

Thanks a lot all BHPians for the detailed inputs on DZire 2024.
I took a test ride for 5 Kms, and then checked the vehicle in & out for more than 45 minutes at the dealership. And boy, I am delighted with this baby.
My Dilemma - I own a Feb 2020 Dzire Petrol (yes, just 5 years old), driven only 4,600 Kms (due to lockdown followed by my overseas trip), and it runs smooth as butter.
Last week, drove 860 Kms on Expressway, Highways, & interior roads of Maharashtra with family. It clocked 22.3 KMPL with Jio-BP Petrol, which otherwise is around 19 KMPL with HP/BP/IOC.
So I am thoroughly confused.
Should I exchange this 5 year old baby for the 2025 newborn, or should I continue with existing? Honestly, heart is infatuated with the new one, but mind (& economics) is still with 2020 one.
HELP please! rl: |
New Dzire is certainly more desirable than ever. But , i say it's wise to hold onto your current Dzire for some more years as it has hardly run any kilometres IMO.

Really appreciate if you've reached till this point of my short review of the new Dzire and I promise to whoever reading this post of mine, whichever car I get for my parents I would pen down a review to my best of abilities since I never did one for either of my cars.
:D |
Great thread and experience. Something I read somewhere, whenever you are about to finalize a car, do take a longish test drive with 4.5/5 (0.5 represents a thin person or a kid) people and luggage (atleast 2 medium filled in, and nit empty, trolley bags) to get a sense of how the car behaves in terms of:
1. power and acceleration performance, requirement to work the gears during overtakes
2. Ability to not scrape the bottom
3. Behaviour on inclines
4. Braking power in sudden situations or even downward slopes for that matter.
5. Comfort of seating for all passengers
Although I have never done this before buying my 2 cars so far, after reading that article, I feel all of us must do this before finalizing a car. Many a time we realize the above negatives when we are out on our first, fully loaded road trip to a nearby hill station and end up regretting the fact that we didn't check these (IMO) essentials.
No update from dealer about expected delivery date for Bluish black booked early November. It's been 4 months.

Did you get any further updates from them about your delivery timelines? Same is the case in Hyderabad. No sign of Blush Black deliveries for new Dzire

Absolute silence. No timelines about Bluish black delivery.
They keep sending updates about price hike.
That's the BLACK, but I have not spotted one on road.

'OK'
The single-word response from the dealer to your intimation to cancel the order speaks of their total disregard for customer.
Why don't you look at Honda Amaze? At least the interactions will be more polite and forthright.

Looking at other options.
I'm seeing more yellow board Dzire 2024 in Bangalore.
