A few days ago, I reached out to Skoda regarding the possibility of upgrading the horn in our Kylaq vehicles to a dual-horn setup, similar to what's offered in the Kushaq and other Skoda models.

Following a few email exchanges, Skoda directed me to Tafe Access. I spoke with the service manager at Tafe Access, and they mentioned that they are likely to receive an accessory pack for dual-horn fittings specifically for the Kylaq. This is encouraging news, especially considering the current circuit in the Kylaq only supports a single horn.

To help expedite the availability of this accessory pack and show Skoda the demand for this upgrade, I would greatly appreciate it if some of you who are also interested in a dual-horn setup could send similar emails to Skoda. The more customers who express this interest, the higher the priority it might receive.

Did a PDI on the Prestige MT today. Mostly used the Team-bhp checklist, but not exhaustively.

Happy with everything, except a couple of things: 1. Watery liquid (possibly condensation) from the exhaust when engine was started, and 2. An intermittent ticking sound around the exhaust that gradually became less frequent.

The salesman had very little idea other than saying that this happens in all new vehicles. Out of concern, I had them start 2 more cars in their yard, and they exhibited the exact same behaviour, though the frequency of the sound varied at random.

Don't recall ever noticing this in our previous cars. Is this something I need to worry about? Or is there a simpler explanation on why this happens?

That's wax and it's nothing to worry about, India 2.0 cars have wax filled in many locations, you will find it in underbody area too.

Thanks for the info, felt relieved! And sorry for being so dumb, but would like to know which part under the hood of the bonnet is filled with wax? Curious to know even the reason behind it? Any reasons for it to get spilled over?

The first 1,000kms took longer than I'd have liked, but the good news is that the Kylaq has remained fuss-free, and is an excellent companion, both in the city and on the highway. A few updates for this thread:

1. Over a 1000kms, over 70% of which was in Delhi, my average is 13.1 kmpl. I feel quite satisfied with this, but expect it will fall to about 12 now that the summers have arrived.

2. Over the last few days, we drove from Delhi to Neemrana and back. On the new Delhi-Mumbai expressway, the Kylaq felt almost boring. It's so ridiculously planted at 120, and still has so much additional power on tap. That combined with the car's handling and ride dynamics make it very easy to recommend.

3. I thoroughly enjoy the acceleration this car offers. In city traffic, drop to 2nd or 3rd, and as long as you're in the turbo zone, you're in for a very addictive experience.

4. The air-conditioning seems to be doing alright. I've seen temperatures upto 39 on the infotainment and the cooling has been satisfactory. It may not be the best in class, but it gets the job done reasonably quickly.

Question - has anyone bought aftermarket sunblinds for the Kylaq? are these available?

Guys. A quick question. Just rechecked my about to be delivered Kylaq and noticed the engine light was ON. I told the dealer about it and was told that the internal PDI hasnt been done yet and that it's normal. During the delivery, this warning won't pop up. Is that true ?

Yes this is very normal. Cars come locked from factory and they are unlocked by dealers prior internal PDI. Do refer the PDI checklist on teambhp which will definitely help you do a thorough PDI.

Is it that hard to procure?
Everyone I know has that amazing horn :)
Needed, especially in Bangalore.

Meanwhile I procured a rare pic of Kylaq in Black.

These connectors are readily available in the market. However, both Skoda India and Tafe Access have indicated that using aftermarket connectors may affect the vehicle's warranty.

On a positive note, Tafe Access informed me that this specific connector will likely be available as an official Skoda part/accessory within the next few weeks or months.

I noticed a good number of black Kylaqs in the dealer yard yesterday, and remembering the original post, asked the salesman if there was a reason why they have more blacks remain in the yard than any other colour. It's apparently nothing more than coincidence.

Took some photos too, but the cars were so dusty that they came out more grey than black.

Now that more than 7000 Kylaqs have been delivered can few owners share their observations on city /highway mileage

The 1.0L TSI Engine is doing duty in Kushaq, Taigun, Virtus and Slavia, you can refer to any of these cars to get an idea of the mileage. But the mileage varies due to many factors, traffic, driving pattern, no of people traveling plus luggage, the terrain in which you are driving etc.

Yes. I wanted relevant to Kylaq which has a smaller footprint compared to Kushaq

My numbers have varied. Over the first 1,000 kms, I've averaged 13ish with 70% running in city, and 30% on highways. In the city itself, I usually get 12-14 when driven sedately. On highways and expressways, we've seen upto 18 as well but a lot of this depends on speed. Cruise at 80-100 and you can see such numbers. On the Delhi-Mumbai expressway, we kept the Kylaq at 120 and saw an average of about 14.7 with the air conditioning on throughout.

Thanks is this manual or TC?

I have purchased skoda kylaq signature+ AT in Feb, now have completed 1200 km.
  1. Creep speed is good for one pedal driving in stop and go traffic.
  2. Infotainment is good, have only used android auto till now. Did not download skoda apps.
  3. Easy to overtake on demand.
  4. Seats are comfortable (compared to honda brio and polo).
  5. RVC video quality is bad and horn is terrible (nothing compared to the polo horn).
  6. Auto start-stop keeps engine off even if switch into neutral.
  7. On mileage with AC on
