Nice review! I think Kylaq in my opinion is hands down the best second family car which has the perfect AT (No AMT and No DCT). |
Even 3XO is a pretty good package, especially the MX2 Pro AT as it was launched at 9.99, which is much better price because of lower tax bracket. Now it is increased to 10.4 or something, making it lose some of its VFM aspect.
The Kylaq Owner's manual recommends 95 RON fuel and so does most TGDI engines.
The TSI TGDI is a EURO Spec engine with up to 50% more sensors and connecting an OBD II gives almost every health aspect on your screen.
Considering those above sensors and tech, I was sure that 95 RON and above is the best fuel.
However as per this article of Rush Lane and I quote
"In a surprising revelation, lab test report shared on reddit have shown that the
regular ethanol blended petrol available at most petrol pumps has a high-octane rating of 98"
https://www.rushlane.com/octane-rati...-12516939.html https://www.reddit.com/r/CarsIndia/c...igh/?rdt=61606
So, the smoothness we get by paying extra for Power 95 and XP95 is because of Surf and Ariel inside! (Fuel additives)
Why can't they just keep things simple, should I pay for a Lab test at my petrol Pump or should I pay for XP95!
IMO, this should be one of the top sellers for Skoda. The right set of interiors & exteriors with a certain premium on top variants. I am eagerly waiting now for the VW twin which would look even more stately with the same set of features.

What are the issues faced in the rear seat of Dzire? Is it the inclination angle or the thigh support that cause fatigue? |
I am not sure, but I guess it was combination of both. Leg room, back support of the rear seat and also the thigh and rear support of the seats felt a lot to be desired. This was the case with a second generation Dzire which we used for touring. I haven't tried the third and the fourth generation yet.
So far this entire launch seems to be a bit confusing to me.
VAGs have a better acceptance with urban customers in general and market share of AT is increasing rapidly. Skoda is banking on pricing a lot for this product. This is where all of it starts dwindling.
The base AT variant does not even have a Hill Hold. Buyers today are smart enough to not ignore this feature. What this means is first meaningful variant for an AT buyer Signature+ starts at 12.40 ex. show. This changes everything. This is a significant gap from the the sticker price they are trying to portray. :Frustrati
No matter how good the product is. And I wish for this product to succeed. But it seems they are all ready to loose it even before the battle starts.
They seriously need to take care of this basic feature in entry level AT. Many buyers in this segment stretch from a hatch budget to get a CSUV low-mid variant. If Skoda is thinking to sell majority as higher variants only, they should forget numbers. Again the same story of low numbers is not going to help.
Skoda India has officially commenced the deliveries of its newest product, the Kylaq SUV.
Also bookings of base variant Classic re-open today!

I think this might be wrong. I had changed my Kushaq horns from factory to the dual tone horn for under 3k. My Sales Advisor told me that this was almost like a default accessory also, as everyone wanted to change it.

Bench width, under-thigh support & knee-room are important points for rear seat evaluation. Question to fellow members- which is the best 4M SUV on Rear Seat parameter? |
Kia Syros. A bit low on width, but other features like sliding rear seat, recline, ventilation and sun blinds make it the best rear seat experience.

Sliding rear seat should be a standard feature in all sub 4 m vehicles. Especially in low boot cars like 3XO or Kylaq. It gives so much flexibility to the user.

Totally agree. But sadly sliding rear or middle seat is not available even in large 7 seaters like XUV700 and Scorpio-N making them less flexible for space.
Okay, now let's get back to this thread - the Kylaq. :)

I still yearn to own a car, which is petite and compact…I am considering Fronx/ Taisor, Baleno,i20 N-line, Amaze in my preferrences. Kylaq seems to be good, if not for the touch panel based AC. Also if the rear seat experiwnce is decent I can add it to my options. Main thing is to ensure my folks do not.experience fatigue or discomfort, especially after they were not too happy with the rear seat of Dzire |
I am a Dzire, City, BRV owner. Have also done extensive long distances in the back seat of the Kushaq, Amaze and i20. For 2 adults and a child the Kylaq and Amaze rear seats are better than the Dzire. In terms of ingress and egress the Kylaq will fare better than the hatchback/sedan counterparts. Purely in terms of long distance touring you are better off in the Kylaq and the Amaze. Take test drives of all the cars mentioned and decide.
Today there is a unveiling ceremony of Kylaq @PPS Skoda, Mysore Road, Bangalore. Planning to be part of this event. Got this invite from official Skoda WhatsApp channel:

Thanks for sharing your insights, John. While.Kylaq and Amaze are considered as Option 3, I am inclined towards Fronx/ Taisor primarily , otherwise Baleno/i20 as option 2.
I like the Syros, but I am quite sure the mid variants would be expensive. Plus I am not too keen to have headlampa too close to wheel arches.
But again, It will take time to decide. Before that I must refresh my car driving skills and also I am not keen on a pre-owned example.
Also.I would like to know how has the maintenance and service costs of Skoda been, especially from Kushaq ans Slavia's perspective?
Kylaq Spare Parts prices as per Skoda India Website.

Kylaq Signature Plus Walkaround. The front DRLs and headlamps change the look of the car. |
I too had booked Signature+ AT in mid December. However, after seeing the similar video covering SKODA's cost cutting with even Signature Plus variant, booked Prestige AT today. Unfortunately showroom guys told that I won't get the benefits of free service for 3 years as last deadline for those booking was 26-Jan-2025. Signature+AT was well within my budget but for Prestige, I have to stretch.
