Kia would have to come up with some sort of update with this pretty soon.
Don't think KIA will update this anytime soon, if they do so, it's a outright acceptance of their design flaw. May be donot in their facelift in 2026 or 2027.

Re: Kia Syros Review

I would get the turn indicators incorporated into the tail lights (above),
from outside, from an independent garage.

Or even a roof mounted one.

This is design fail.

Re: Kia Syros Review

Another design fail in my eye would be the clash between the squarish wheel cladding vs the roundness of the tires. While this works well for other models, it just looks cheap here because of the mass of the black cladding. They would have streamlined this by following the outline of the tires, even making it a squircle would automatically reduce the bulkiness.

I agree, the design concept seems to be square or rectangle everywhere so no roundness for wheel cladding. It kind of looks odd, but to some extent it is not prominent in dark color Syros though.

Re: Kia Syros Review

Syros price has increased by 30k to 50k in the lower variance HTK and HTX. Impact of 5 star rating I guess.

Combined figure only. Worst case, you will get close to 15 kmpl. It is a very good engine in terms of power, torque and fuel efficiency.

Some context or more information would have been helpful, dear brother. A price hike of 3% was reported w.e.f. 01-April-2025.

Base HTK variants increased by 50k. HTK, HTK(o), HTK+ and HTX increased by 30k. No change in Top variant. This is what my SA informed me.

Re: Kia Syros Review

This might be very obvious to some, and mind boggling to others, but like for like, the price we pay to Kia (ex-factory) for the Syros vs the Seltos is VERY similar.

Here's how:

a) Sub 4m Diesel cars with <1.5L engines have total tax of 31% (28% GST+ 3% compensation cess)- This is where the Syros lies.

b) Cars >4m but engine capacity <1.5L have total tax of 45% (17% compensation cess)- the Seltos.

Now, comparing the GTX+ Diesel AT Seltos (19.99L)v/s the HTX+ (O) Diesel AT Syros (17.80L)

a) Ex-factory price of the Seltos is 13.79L

b) Ex factory of the Syros is 13.59L.

Therefore, there's JUST a 20k difference in both the cars!

If we come to the petrol, the Syros will have a 29% GST (1% cess for sub 4m cars)

a) Ex factory of the Seltos stays the same at 13.79L (ex-sh: 19.99L)
b) Ex factory price of the Syros is 13.02L (ex-sh: 16.8L)

Therefore, there's a 77k difference. But mind you! The engine is a 1L 3 cylinder, v/s a 1.5L 4 cylinder.

All in all, Kia definitely seems to have a higher margin on the Syros, v/s the Seltos.

The sales isn't great, KIA trying milk on the 5 star rating hype now. During the festive season the truth will come out.

Re: Kia Syros Review

Autocar has tested the Real World Fuel Efficiency of Kia Syros.

The numbers are

Petrol MT
City : 9.10 kmpl
Highway : 12.60 kmpl

Petrol DCT
City : 8.30 kmpl
Highway : 11.50 kmpl

Diesel AT
City : 10.80
Highway : 13.60

Is the boxy shape to be blamed for such low numbers? This car doesn't seem to be moving at the moment. I hardly see them on roads.

Petrol are always thirsty, I can accept it but the Diesel AT figures are lower compared to other cars. Heck, it's numbers are similar to what I get from my Hycross Petrol (Non Hybrid) with full load. BS6 Cars just don't seem to be as efficient as BS4 were.
