2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review

2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review

Tata Altroz Facelift Pros:

• Looks absolutely stunning! An achievement because the older car was so handsome too. Matched to solid build quality
• Petrol engine gets MT, AMT and DCT options. Competent turbo-diesel engine & frugal CNG also available
• Nice interior with good quality parts & adequate space
• Accommodating 345-litre boot is among the biggest in the segment
• Mature on-road behaviour, including at highway speeds
• 5-star NCAP safety rating! Safety package includes six airbags, 360-degree camera, blind spot monitor, TPMS etc.
• Enjoyable Harman 8-speaker ICE. One of the better audio systems in this segment
• Impressive kit (auto headlamps & wipers, cruise control, air purifier, wireless charging, paddle shifters, connected car tech, voice assisted sunroof, ambient lighting, wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay...)

Tata Altroz Facelift Cons:

• 1.2L, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine is underpowered & noisy. No turbo-petrol variant available anymore
• Notchy 5-speed MT takes away some of the fun of driving
• Diesel and CNG do not get AT options. Diesel is available in only 3 trim levels
• Fit & finish are below par for the segment
• Suspension has a firm edge at low speeds
• Service visit every 6 months / 7,500 km (1 year / 10,000 km is the norm today)
• Some missing features (auto-dimming IRVM, ventilated seats, full size spare tyre, split-folding rear seat...)
• Tata's after-sales service quality is a hit or miss. Remains a gamble

This review has been jointly compiled with Vid6639. Thanks to him for the expert observations!

Introduction

2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_exterior_02.jpg

The Tata Altroz was launched back in 2020. However, Tata Motors has been updating it every year, with one enhancement or the other. Over the years, we have seen the introduction of the turbo-petrol, DCA, CNG and Racer variants of the hatchback. For 2025, Tata Motors has given the car a facelift that features cosmetic changes to the exterior and interior, along with some feature additions and an AMT with the petrol version. The diesel, DCA and CNG variants have been retained too. This means that the Altroz remains the only car in its segment to come with a diesel engine and a dual-clutch automatic transmission. None of its rivals offers a diesel engine any more, and apart from the Hyundai i20 (which comes with a CVT), all rivals offer an AMT.

In terms of sales, Altroz has not been able to outperform its main rivals in the B2 segment so far. With the facelift, Tata Motors hopes that the car can gain some ground. A couple of points that need to be remembered, though, are that the diesel and CNG versions are only available with a 5-speed manual transmission, and there is no turbo-petrol powerplant on offer. All the engines on offer are carried forward without any change in power and torque outputs. The suspensions and brakes have been carried over from the outgoing car as well.

The Altroz comes with a standard warranty of 3 years or 1,00,000 km. You can extend your original warranty by one or two more years. As always, we strongly recommend you get maximum coverage.

Coming to safety, we already know that the Altroz scored a 5-star GNCAP safety rating. For 2025, all the safety features that were already available in the Altroz have been included. The car comes with 6 airbags as standard and is also equipped with a 360-degree camera system, SOS call, hill-hold assist and more.

2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Price & Brochure

The Altroz is offered in Smart, Pure, Pure S, Creative, Creative S, Accomplished S and Accomplished +S variants or ‘Personas’ as Tata likes to call them. These are priced from Rs. 6.89 - 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Check out the full pricelist of the Altroz at this link. This puts the Altroz more or less at par with its rivals.

The Altroz is available in Pristine White, Royal Blue, Pure Grey, Ember Glow, and Dune Glow body colours.

2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Exterior Review

Changes to the front include new headlamps, a reworked radiator grille and a redesigned bumper:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_exterior_03.jpg

At the rear, there are changes to the tailgate, new "infinity" tail-lamps, and a restyled bumper. A new "T" badge sticks out from the tailgate:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_exterior_04.jpg

On the side, the Altroz gets a reshaped front panel, new alloy wheels and ORVMs along with flush-fitting front door handles:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_exterior_05.jpg

Blackened headlamp clusters have twin LED units and LED DRLs on the top:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_exterior_06.jpg

DRLs are bright and prominent:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_exterior_08.jpg

They also double up as turn-indicators:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_exterior_07.jpg

Slim 3D radiator grille with aero vents is finished in glossy black. It houses a "T" badge in the middle:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_exterior_09.jpg

Front bumper features a small grille on the top with the front camera in the middle. The lower portion houses a large black section with a huge air dam:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_exterior_10.jpg

Fog lamps are much smaller and now, LED units. They have cornering function:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_exterior_11.jpg

Bumper gets slim air curtains on the sides:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_exterior_12.jpg

Fenders have been reshaped to gel with the new bumper. Turn-indicator has been deleted:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_exterior_13.jpg

Glossy black ORVMs have been restyled and have integrated LED turn indicators. Cameras for the 360-degree view system are located underneath:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_exterior_14.jpg

Flush-fitting door handles look great, but do not pop out automatically. You need to press the front end inwards with your finger to get the rear to pop out. This makes them difficult to use. The driver unit gets a request sensor with the keyhole located inside. There is also an ugly-looking stopper there:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_exterior_15.jpg

All variants come with 16" wheels shod with 185/60 section tyres. Accomplished S and Accomplished +S variants get 16" Drag Cut alloy wheels. We like this wheel design:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_exterior_16.jpg

Glossy black shoulder line is thinner than before. Creases on the lower portion of the doors have also been restyled:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_exterior_17.jpg

Clear markings have been provided indicating the diet of the Altroz. Like earlier, the CNG filler is located next to the petrol filler:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_exterior_18.jpg

Splash guard is very prominent as the bumper cuts inwards sharply towards the lower section:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_exterior_19.jpg

Tail-lamp clusters are large and black and contain thin LED strips for different functions. We got the feeling that a lot of real estate has been wasted here:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_exterior_20.jpg

Tail-lamps have vertical striped detailing on the sides:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_exterior_21.jpg

Tailgate features an LED strip connecting the two tail-lamp clusters. "ALTROZ" lettering has been shifted to the lower portion of the tailgate while the reversing camera has been placed on the new "T" badge. Electromagnetic boot release is placed behind the camera:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_exterior_22.jpg

Rear bumper features a large black portion that houses the number plate, two slim reflectors, parking sensors and a single reversing lamp. Rear fog lamps have not been provided:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_exterior_23.jpg

Other than the Pure Grey colour of our test car, the Altroz is available in 4 more shades. Here it is in Ember Glow...
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_exterior_24.jpg

...and Dune Glow. Other colours include Pristine White and Royal Blue:

2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Interior Review

Grand Prestigia dashboard features a 3-tone theme with some soft-touch finishes. Looks more upmarket than the outgoing car:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_interior_01.jpg

Leatherette-wrapped two-spoke steering wheel with a flat bottom and silver insert is taken from other Tata cars. It comes with a backlit "T" badge and buttons. The light colour will result in it getting soiled very easily:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_interior_02.jpg

Buttons for the audio system, telephony, and voice commands are placed on the left spoke, while cruise control buttons and toggle switch to scroll through the MID are placed on the right spoke:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_interior_03.jpg

7-inch fully digital instrument cluster. It comes with a rev counter on the left and fuel and temperature gauges on the right with an MID in the centre. Time, direction, outside temperature, drive mode, odometer and DTE are displayed as well. The Accomplished +S variant gets a 10.25" Ultra View HD digital instrument cluster which can project the map from the touchscreen head unit as well as the blind view monitor:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_interior_05.jpg

You can toggle between two trip meters (with time average speed, distance and average fuel economy) and an instant FE meter. You can also change the layout of the instrument cluster:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_interior_07.jpg

Other MID options include a TPMS, power & torque meter, date & time and compass. Vehicle-related warnings are displayed as well:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_interior_08.jpg

Selected drive mode is displayed on the left:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_interior_09.jpg

MID will warn you if a door or the tailgate or the bonnet has been left open:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_interior_10.jpg

CNG variants get a CNG level indicator instead of a temperature gauge. A CNG mode indicator has also been provided:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_interior_04.jpg

You get a CNG trip meter and a mode ratio indicator as well:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_interior_06.jpg

Side A/C vents have been restyled. They get silver inserts on the flow direction controllers:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_interior_11.jpg

Switches for the foglamp, central locking and 360-degree camera system have been moved to the centre fascia. The area next to the engine start/stop button is blank:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_interior_12.jpg

Doorpads are beige & black. Their design has not been changed. However, the door latches have been restyled:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_interior_13.jpg

Front seats have been redesigned and feature additional bolstering. They are very supportive and comfortable for long-distance driving. Unfortunately, seat ventilation has not been provided:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_interior_14.jpg

Seatbase gets enhanced under-thigh support:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_interior_15.jpg

Silver inserts have been provided on the backrests:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_interior_16.jpg

CNG variants get a fire extinguisher under the driver seat. Loose connectors are an eyesore:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_interior_17.jpg

ORVMs are wider than before:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_interior_18.jpg

Centre fascia features a floating touchscreen head-unit at the top and a touch-type control panel for climate control and other functions:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_interior_19.jpg

10.25" Ultra View HD touchscreen head-unit by Harman has a crisp display and is easy to read. There is no lag while operating the touchscreen, but the sensitivity in certain areas is inconsistent. Music is played through 8 speakers (4 speakers + 4 tweeters). It's a very good sound system for an OEM unit. Owners will be happy with the sound quality:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_interior_20.jpg

It comes with a voice assistant, IRA-connected car tech with 50+ features, an air purifier and Drivenext connected car service:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_interior_21.jpg

Drivenext analyses and displays information regarding driving habits, efficiency and safety:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_interior_22.jpg

It also comes with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay connectivity:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_interior_23.jpg

The Altroz gets a 360-degree view system. Both front and rear camera displays come with dynamic guidelines. Camera quality is very good:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_interior_24.jpg

The Altroz gets a blind view monitor which displays the feed from the camera when you turn on the respective indicator:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_desktop_01.jpg

Just like the side units, the central A/C vents have been redesigned:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_interior_26.jpg

Physical buttons for the foglamps, drive mode, hazard lights, 360-degree camera, lock/unlock function, and most A/C functions have been replaced by a touch panel. These require you to take your eyes off the road when you need to operate them. Thankfully, fan speed and temperature are still controlled by physical switches:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_interior_27.jpg

Button for switching between petrol and CNG is located here as well:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_interior_28.jpg

Type-A and 65W Type-C USB charging ports, along with a 12V power outlet, are located below the A/C controls. Wireless charging pad gets tri-arrow detailing:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_interior_29.jpg

Gear knob is identical in design to the Altroz Racer. However, since this is a 5-speed unit, it does not get a shift knob at the front to engage the reverse. The gear lever gets a leather boot and a piano black console:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_interior_30.jpg

Ambient lighting strip runs on the passenger side of the dashboard, below the A/C vents:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_interior_31.jpg

Roof bezel holds the switches for the sunroof and passenger airbag warning. DCA Accomplished +S variant also gets emergency call and breakdown call buttons here:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_interior_32.jpg

Just like the front door pads, the rear units are finished in beige & black:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_interior_33.jpg

Rear seat gets 3-point seatbelts for all three occupants, but only 2 adjustable headrests:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_interior_34.jpg

Under-thigh support has been bolstered. Overall, the rear seats are accommodating and very comfortable:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_interior_35.jpg

Rear seat backrests get silver inserts too:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_interior_36.jpg

Centre armrest now houses two cupholders:
2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review-2025_tata_altroz_facelift_interior_37.jpg

Slot to keep a smartphone below the vents has been deleted. 65W USB Type-C fast charging port has been provided below:

Lever to fold the seatback forward has been redesigned:

Disclaimer: Tata invited Team-BHP for the Altroz Facelift test drive. They covered all the travel expenses for this driving event.

Re: 2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review

Just don't understand the need for a 6 month service visit. Overall this is a desirable product looks, dynamics and feature wise, only for them to go ahead and create a reluctance by not offering a turbo petrol and a diesel auto.

Hopefully they launch a turbo petrol manual and automatic, more of a GT spec than a Racer.

Re: 2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review

Great job with the review!

I like the overall package the new altroz is. Specially the new colors and the more supportive seats. Only one thing irks me, - elbow pads on doors were black before. Now they are white. They will get soiled so easily.

And that gear knob! Yuck! It looks utterly cheap.

Totally agree. Every single extra visit to the service center is an opportunity for them to overcharge unsuspecting customers for services not even required. For the last major service of our Tiago they gave me an initial estimate that was around 2000 more than what it should've been. People less informed simply won't consider saying no to what they recommend, especially since the SA's cleverly disguise these as being necessary.

In addition, they have the first service in 2 months! Followed by 6 months and the first year, this means that the first three free services run out in the very first year of owning the car. I'm guessing it's just not Tata, but all brands follow a similar ridiculous model these days.

Re: 2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review

I am in the market for a new car in the range of 12.5 lakhs and am thoroughly disappointed with the TATA Altroz facelift. No Turbo MT, no Accomplished + S for MT, and no dark interiors with seat ventilation either.

I am an upgrading car buyer, so another 80-odd bhp won't cut the deal for me. So I think my money will go to Toyota (some to Maruti Suzuki) for Taisor V.

Re: 2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review

Tata's most underrated car so far. It is good from all angles, but still wouldn't sell as many as it should in comparison to its other siblings, such as Nexon and Punch. If I ever buy a Tata, it will be Altroz.

Perfect detailed review as always. I believe the only thing missing in Altroz now is a sunroof, which should be provided in the next update.

Re: 2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review

What surprised me is that there is no ventilated seats in the facelifted version when the Altroz Racer was provided with it in the top variant. It's an unnecessary feature cutting, when they could have not shifted the indicators to the ORVM, or not included pop out door handles.

No turbo petrol variant is also an odd choice. Do they aim to continue selling the Racer based on the pre facelift version or do they want to discontinue it forever? It's not clear.

DCT with nat asp is not the best combo, but then again they don't yield to rational thinking.

6 months service interval is okay not a big deal considering the expansive service network.

How the initial batches fare regarding the problems and glitches, is what we'll need to wait for and see.

Re: 2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review

Even after numerous yearly updates and a wide range of powertrain options, the Altroz continues to struggle at ~4k units/month, while the Baleno comfortably triples that figure.

As a fellow BHPian rightly said: Ask 10 people why one should buy an Altroz, and you’ll get 6 different answers. That lack of clarity hurts mass-market appeal.

Tata should’ve ditched the “Racer” tag, brought in the Nexon’s 1.2 Turbo combo from day one, and focused on delivering a single, consistent identity — just like the Baleno, which thrives on being a simple, smooth, and trustworthy family hatch.

Re: 2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review

As a product, it is badly let down by the crude and noisy powertrain. This is even before we consider the lack of performance from the engine.

Tata is falling behind the competition in both ICE and EV vehices. Not just in powertrain but also in other aspects of the user experience and ownership.

Three or four years ago, I would have considered the Altroz as a replacement for my Tiago. But no longer today. The competition is just as safe and better in performance, reliability and refinement.
