Re: Fiat Grande Punto : Test Drive & Review

I just can't wait to get delivery of my 2012 Emotion, but the days are nearing.
I had originally opted for Oceanic Blue but it seems none of the dealers in Bombay would be able to get that color for another 20 odd days, atleast thats what Om Sai is telling me.

So have to opt for Tuscon Wine that too is being got from Galaxy motors. I have been given the VIN and engine number, and its a Jan 2012 made car as confirmed by Wildon.

Will soon be doing a PDI before its sent for registration. Can't wait.

Cheers

Re: Fiat Grande Punto : Test Drive & Review

A friend of mine just took delivery of a Punto 2012.

He has a query.

Quote:
I have a request to make:
Punter - (My new Fiat Punto 2012) makes a unusual sound on the left side rear door while closing it. (kind of double impact sound) when compared to all other doors.
I observed the same sound all Punto's which I checked at showroom and even in Linea I found the same issue.

Can you post this query in Team BHP, I am curious to find out whether its a manufacturing defect or that's the way is should be working.
Any comments.

Re: Fiat Grande Punto : Test Drive & Review

^^^

One question: Was the window glass completely up while closing the door?

If not, then it could be one of the reasons. I have heard this kind of double impact sound while closing a door, if the window glass is not up completely. Also, I don't think it could be a manufacturing defect.

Any comments.
Even my April 2011 Punto's left rear door makes a different nose while closing the door. Have asked the TASS guys to check it during the service, they checked door and told me that there are no issues with the door.

Re: Fiat Grande Punto : Test Drive & Review

Hello All,

I have been a Happy Punto EP owner for over 1 yr now. I just got to know of a feature called "Programmable Follow Me Home headlamps". I may sound dumb, but i honestly couldnt find anything like this in my car.

I also got the below from the Fiat India site. Can someone please guide me how this is enabled and set?

Thanks.

Re: Fiat Grande Punto : Test Drive & Review

why FIAT has over priced Punto so much :( i found that Dynamic Diesel costs 7.30L OTR in Karnataka. plus 80K for Emotion. 8L OTR for top end hatch with not so great A.S.S! that really too much IMHO.

You gotta OWN one to enjoy the price my friend

FIAT when compared to i20, Polo, Honda Jazz is priced well and service is not bad!

Yes, agreed, the service could be better and it definitely is not in the Hyundai / Maruti League, but they are learning..err..a little slowly

@recshenoy, have a look at the below comparision

Fiat Grande Punto : Test Drive & Review-123.jpg
courtesy: www.carwale.com

Now lets compare the ex-showroom prices:
Punto dynamic is 22000 more than swift vdi
Punto dynamic is 5000 less than i20 magna 1.4 CRDI
Punto dynamic is 55000 more than polo trendline D

For this difference you get:
  • ABS+EBD
  • CD Player (i20 also has this)
  • Rear wash/wiper
  • Rear defogger
  • 15-20mm higher GC
And many small features like:
  • Follow me home headlamps
  • rear foot level AC vents
  • Exact door opening indicator
  • All 4 auto down power windows
  • Driver auto up power window
  • 15k service intervals (save polo)
Do you still think its overpriced???

As for the A.S.S, I want to mention a point that I mention often...
All service stations are the same (any OEM) except for the number of stations (maruti and hyundai definitely have an advantage here).
Except for remote places and small towns, if you are in a city, Punto is a serious competitor.

Now for the OTR prices, state taxes are high and hence the final price seems high, so people buying a car in Karnataka are unlucky on that count.
So we have to see only the difference and not the final price.

Which is the best sales + service center in Chennai?

The one closest to my house is TAFE at Pallikaranai. Are they good? I might need to drop my Swift booking afterall. Hence looking (Once again ) at all options.

Is 90HP worth the additional 1L over Dynamic version? Interested in Dynamic version (not Emotion except if its 90HP) since it gives me the flexibility to add alloys + tyres of my choice. (Hopefully - finding 98 PCD wont be that hard?)

CrAzY dRiVeR, for the 1 lakh price difference, let see what are the feature differences:
  • 15 HP power increase
  • Alloys
  • Air bags
  • Audio controls on steeing wheel
  • Bluetooth and USB
  • Leather steering wheel and gear knob
  • Wider tyres
Now you decide which is more important:
Option of aftermarket alloys (98 PCD is not hard to find but you deifinitely will have less options) and tyres OR the above features (some of which are impossible to get later)

For sales it has to be Concorde, contact Raman and he is the team lead out there. Extreme courteous and sticks to his words. This showroom is located in Velachery road so not far from you.

Service - VST > TAFE > Concorde
