Linea extra's..

Now, I dont know if this is already discussed..

But what i was thinking is; can we install Linea's arm rest in the punto?? any mods to the front seat backrest needed?? how much will it cost roughly?

And second i'm planning to have the sunglass box from the Linea fitted in the same place above the driver in my arriving GP.. so how much does this box cost?? which should be available at tata/fiat SC? right? the showroom dealers tell me the accessory price list has not yet arrived..

Both these luxury's are there in the european spec GP.. but not in indian version.. and since the GP is made/assembled in india i doubt the provision for the arm rest is there? Will someone put some light on this..

Thanx.

Dude, the rusting pics you show are similar to amoghchapalkar's initial punto.
Maybe it's normal to find on all cars?

Also look here, a newly delivered Fiesta. It looks even worse:

sorry for the bad picture quality shot by my cell phone, but it tells a great deal about the 'premium hatchback' and the kind of quality that comes with it on day 0 of the ownership...however insignificant the part is, Rust on it shows the care FIAT takes for its own cars, forget about its customers...

Even I am confused. I never checked underbody in PDI before delivery.
It will be interesting to see amoghchapalkar's new car's underbody.
amogh, have you clicked pics of the new car (rust-free)?

My funda is, rust will form if car is lying around somewhere 3-4 months (like frank's fiesta in that thread).
But in Linea/Punto (which move off the shelf fast), there isn't even enough time to form rust!

I wonder if all it takes is 1 day for surface rust to form and all cars have it irrespective of brand.

Amogh have been of great help to me in my Punto's rusted underparts case!
the matter is with Fiat now, and am hoping to get some concrete solution sooner than later!
the point is not if it takes one day or a week to rust... the point either its' Fiat in Italy, or Chevy in US, or any other 'foreign' brand in their respective countries...they will never be able to sell the vehicles in their own respective countries, if the vehicle will have Rust on any part of the car on Day 1...
simply unacceptable!

Are you sure there is no rusting of any sort sold in the cars over there? In anycase I think we are loosing our sleep on something very trivial... surface rust would be there on almost any car that has been standing in the stockyard.
Enjoy your car!

@ameet . go for a replacement vehicle just like the other rust thread opener

still take Fiats all famous anti-rust coating with a pinch of salt and do your own anti rust coating ok.

as the saying goes. prevention is better than cure

happy motoring

IMHO : for a premium hatch (when we are shelling out 7 lacs+) this is not a trivial matter.

And about cars in US : Having seen with my own eyes, Yes, I can definitely tell you that they don't have this amount of rusting !!

Forget US and Europe : my Skoda, Safari, Innova and Wagon-R don't have this amount of rusting.

When pineapple_ameet checked out a couple of Indica's in the same stockyard as his Punto, even those cars did not have the amount of rusting his Punto had.

@ pineapple_ameet

I hope all issues you are facing get resolved soon.
All the best and wish you safe motoring, which ever car you choose, even if you decide to give FIAT a miss.

I am taking delivery of my GP Epk Red on tuesday.
I had done a PDI at the stockyard of Concorde Cochin.
But could not peep underneath. Well did not have a facility to lift up the car.
I hope there are no surprises waiting for me.

I will return to their office before registering just to check this.
I have loads of doubts on the new car, I'm planning to start a thread.

The punto facelifted version is released... The Grande Punto has got an adorable face lift... This model is not yet reached the production, it will come only after its debut at the Frankfurt show in September.

Did you notice the alloys? It is the same that is released with indian version... hmmm interesting?

Hmm... Dont really like the face lifted version. I feel the existing look is much cleaner.

More than face"lift", it looks like face pulled down. However, a better appreciation can be made only after seeing the complete picture, i.e. how the front complements other parts.
