Going back to the discussion on new engines:

I saw 2 white Puntos on Katraj Kondhwa road, Pune. They did have temp regn numbers on them but had some tags similar to the ones seen on test mules that read "CRQV / PIP P1.4" and "CRQV / PIP D2". Can any body decode that? Also there were a yellow lines along the door beedings and rear brake light(on top). Guess i'm all ears to hear anything on the engine upgrades.

If there is no hidden meaning, I think PIP 1.4 could be the TJ 1,4, and PIP D2 could be 1.3 MJD with VGT.

Muaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! If this is true, BRING IT ON Fiat. That has the potential to become the definitive hot hatch in India.

I hope that my wait will be well worth it - really hoping that the VGT comes soon!

To all those who have booked punto and waiting for delivery:
Is the discount on Punto applicable if you have booked before the offer period? My dealer is saying i won't get the discount, since my car is invoiced before the offer period. Is this correct?

If you have just paid the booking then, its just an advance and not a proper invoice. Invoice will be when you'll get a bill from them for the total price of car. Thats I am sure you havent got yet. Ask them to cancel your booking, and tell them that you will write to FIAT about their attitude. They will get their acts straight for sure. By the way how much discount are you getting form them?

scumbag dealers, they never lose an opportunity to pull a fast one on us.
If the price increases during delivery time, they will definitely make you pay. When the reverse happened, they try to play games.

General rule is "prices during delivery time will apply".

Here is what happened:
I paid 25K while booking. Meanwhile i had applied for 5L loan with HDFC bank, which got approved, and then disbursed to the dealer directly. So the bank has already paid to the dealer. So even if i want to cancel, it is not that easy now. So i can't use that to pressurize them.

Anyway, i still have to make the balance payment, without which they will not register the car. The car is supposed to be here by tomorrow/Monday. So let us see what happens before that.

Also i had called up Fiat helpline to crosscheck. I was told, i will get a response from someone. So i will wait till monday and then see what the dealer does.

Hi Guys,

Last week went to Panaji from Dombivli in My Palio D and from Panaji to Dandeli we went by my Friend's punto and a total of 470 Kms of trip in Punto.

1> Awesome highway performance
2> Very Good Economy we got 19.1 including bad roads /ghats/and highway speed 100/110 km/hr
3> Pickup must admit not great in 1st and 2nd gears you have to strech to extract performance, but once she crosses 2000 RPM she is breeze nice linear picup.
4>Very good climate control.
5> No rattles on bad roads.
6> very solidly build car.
7>If you are driving on bad roads you really forget the surface such is the ride quality of punto its simply the best.

Attaching some of the pictures of the RED HOT PUNTO:
