Punto MDJ owners, how are your FE figures?

I've been using the car for a mix of city/highway driving, few long trips and rest all daily commute types. The car has clocked 4500 Kms now. When I look at the trip figures for trip meter A which has not been reset for the past 2000 Kms, the average FE is shown as 16 Kmpl.

I am not worried about the figure, but just wanted to know whether this is the type of FE everyone is getting.

The highest FE my dad got for a road trip is 24.5 Kmpl, obviously without revving up and using the turbo much

The highest FE I could manage to get is 20 Kmpl. I drive mostly keeping the engine in the slightly higher rev (2500 - 3000) band, always making good use of the turbo. I noticed that ONLY when you drive in the lower revs, with no turbo punch at all, the FE is good - but then the car feels dead.

Mine is a June 2009 make and I went for the CSC replacement long back. I do recall cars of Sep 2009 make also going for replacements while chatting at the service centre, but I'm not sure. All dealers got a list of cars which needed this replacement. If your car's not on the hitlist, it doesn't need it. But still, you can write to FIAT and reconfirm what your dealer has stated.

@Aarenes, Amartya

I'm not sure on the manufatured month part, but if you feel that your clutch travel is long, then ask your service personal to replace it with the newly designed CSC, it not only reduced the clutch travel but also removed the jerk which I get when I change gears.

For around 12,000km I was travelling with the old CSC, the clutch travel used to be long and it annoys me whenver I try to overtake or try to move fast. But today morning, the drive had a whole new experience. I was surprised. Infact, the gear play which I had, had completely vanished. The gear change feels solid and not rubbery as it used to be.

I checked the bill, those guys have replaced a few more things under warranty without my knowledge.

Good going Fiat!

P.S: forget to add, the noise level has gone further down. In fact I felt like driving a petrol car :o)

No news of new Palio! This should put an end to new palio speculation!.
OT: Saturday at when I was at Concorde Motors Mysore Road to pick my palio up after service, enquired if the palio was still available, he said very much yes and it would take 2-3 weeks to get the car delivered depending on color.

But the sales are just trickling which is sad though

My Punto is giving me between 17-18 in mixed highway and city traffic for every refill. I love my car its first service is due now. The only glitch it has is alignment problem which has not been able to rectifies the steering is a lil tilt towards left v lil. The professional people were also not able to correct it. Other than that all perfect planning to upgrade music system now.

All your figures are better than mine, though I don't use Ac that often - The very recent average mileage of my car stands at 14.8 Kmpl. Spirited driving through a jam packed highway all the time. can't term it as city driving or highway driving.

I wanted to test how much I can extract from the MJD and I drove a stretch of 10 Kms very sober not even waking up the turbo much - it was 18.5Kmpl then. I guess it would go up on a normal highway trip even further.

My one month (1700km) old 1.4 E+ gives me 13-13.5 kmpl in the city (A/c 50% usage, very light foot on throttle). This was over a period of 2 weeks when i was working late and reaching office after peak rush times in the morning. Hence the high figure.
One recent T-bhp meet which involved a ~300 odd km highway drive yielded 10 kmpl (but with 'somewhat spirited' driving )
Normal peak city bumper-to-bumper driving yields ~12kmpl
Am quite satisfied with this. It should go even higher, albeit marginally, after the 1st service.

I just test drove Punto 1.3 and 1.4 for the fifth time..! BOY....... 1.4 rocks

Diesel was very noisy at high rpm.. I don't think Swift is that noisy.

If 1.4 gives at least 12 for B'lore's traffic condition, then I will surely buy the PETROL!!

Hi! Punto Owners,

I am considering to replace my indica with a Punto MJD. My main worry is GC. Can owners comment whether the car scrapes with 5 people.

Thanks

The Salesman at the Tata-Fiat showroom today told me that Punto Sports will come in 2012 as FIAT wants to launch other cars. When asked which cars they wanted to launch, he said Bravo and Ritmo in 2011.. Fiat Ritmo????

@kiren - I own an Indica and a Punto MJD E+. No worries on the GC.
And I am in Bombay. Absolutely no issues on the GC front.

FYI - I drive mostly with 2 adults, 1 child and an empty boot.
