The dealer offered me the Fiat branded central locking when i bought the car. The price is around 9K which is too much. 4k Is a reasonable price but will it void my warranty?

That depends on the dealer, and your rapport with them. Technically if no wires are cut it shouldnt be void, but dealers try and void it for anything. The Fiat one is plug and play.

If you want to install Autocop there will be wire cut, I checked with some local shops, for which you will void the warranty, yes it will be only electrical warranty but that will have to do with a lot many things. In Fiat cars every thing is mapped with ECU, and if there is any short-circit, the fuel injection will stop and car will stop, then you go to the service station and your entire car's warranty will be at stake. So for another 4k, why take chance? anyways they have reduced the price of Active central locking by 1k.

Guys, those of you, who have the Punto 1.4, I just wanted to know if the Punto 1.4 is as good as the linea at masking speeds above 120. I have been at speeds of 160 in my linea where I was honestly feeling we were going at around 100-120 tops till the time I actually glanced at the speedo. Looking to buy a car in first week of jan to avail the discounts on the 2010 models. The current model has discounts of 35k. Will I get better /more discount if I go for the 2010 model in Jan?? How much would be a good discount to ask for?

I did 130 on my parent's 1.4 and it sure did not feel like 130. We had a NHC ZX before this and even 100 felt really fast on that... I'd say take the test drive as you will be the best judge.

Definitely it is. I was driving at 120-130 on Pune-Bangalore highway during my last visit to Goa and I never felt that I was driving above 100 nor does my wife who had warned me not to cross 90 .

@Fiat Tarun,Hammerhead, thanks guys that did help in me getting a bit more sure about punt.

@Hammerhead -When We bought thee Linea the speed alarm was set at 120, which was told to my mom, and wife. Later the alarm was extended to 140 and now its at 160. Although now they know that when the alarm buzzes (for them) its an obscenely insane speed, the first few times we had a merry time riding at 160, and the warning we got was ahem ahem, its 120 hehehehe.

Guys any idea whether the discounts will be more in jan 2011 for 2010 models or will it be the same buying the car now i.e Nov, Dec or in Jan 2011?

I would like to know whether Fiat Punto 1.4 FIRE has drive by wire technology?

Always wear your seatbelt and drive safe

Seat Belt warning light

On my dad's Punto, this light flashes 4-5 times irrespective of whether the seat belt is put or not, and then goes off even if the seat belt is not put on. Is this normal? In my wife's i10, the seat belt warning light goes off only after the seat belt is worn.
