re: Chevrolet Cruze LTZ 2.0 Diesel : Test Drive & Review

I have covered 36,500kms in my Cruze which is now fitted with a dual-channel race dynamics box and still running on "Stock Brake Pads"

The brake pads still feel pretty good and has good stopping power even if the instant bite is lost.

I expect it to last me till 40K kms easily which is much more than my previous car (Accent Viva CRDI) wherein I replaced the pads at 34K kms

Reading all the stories here. I feel lucky in this aspect

Any help will be highly appreciated!
Same situation for me. At least in my case it is an AT and hence load on the brakes could have been substantially higher. I had to spend around 17k after 20,000 Km (from earlier replacement).
Also my dealer got the discs "machined" outside without changing them.
When I got my old pads back I found that indeed the pads were well worn out.
But still can't get over paying Rs.1 per Km for breaking alone!!!

Hi I have a 2010 LTZ AT. Done 50k.

Is there anyway I can upgrade my audio system to what's currently there in the new Cruze? Has anyone done that? I am specifically ingested in Bluetooth streaming and a USB interface.
My dealer couldn't help much. Any pointers will be much appreciated. Thank you

Madhu

@madhurules .. I have a 2012 Cruze LTZ A/T .. 16,000kms in 1 year. You really aren't missing out on much, the Bluetooth connectivity although seamless, can just stream Audio, there is no Bluetooth telephony and also the quality of audio is significantly dropped when listening to music over Bluetooth. The Aux-in & USB have a much better output. It's only the USB that you're really missing out on and I'm not really sure if there is a way to retrofit that in an older car.

The last time I went for the 15,000kms service, the service advisor told me he'll check the brake pads and if required, will change it. He said the brake pads are fine for now, although I have a feeling I will have to get them changed at 20,000kms. Thankfully I opted for the CPCO @ Rs.30,000/- which has made almost all services until now for me free .. Free labour charge, regular services and also some 2-3 free wheel alignment and balancing tokens. This covers me for 3 years/36,000kms. Only thing I have paid for is the transmission oil drain + additive and engine oil as consumables aren't covered. However even the brake pads with labour costs would be free for me. Glad I took the CPCO, highly recommended to future Cruze owners.

Regards,

Which Model of 2010 is your car? Bought it brand new?

So in 50K kms have you replaced brake pads twice? What was the cost each time?

Wonderful to know that I have company on longetivity of stock brake pads. Iam nearing 37K kms on the odo

Narendra, what was the symptom that you came across that told you your brake pads gave up? Also, was it only front or both were replaced? Cost?

We are lucky in Hyderabad to find Chevy providing top-notch service

Avinash - On that particular day, I started from Bangalore at 4:00 AM towards Trivandrum and at about 5:30 AM, I heard a slight humming sound that was initially discrete. I didn't bother to stop the car since it was still dark and kept on driving. But after we crossed Madurai, the sound became more prominent and continuous. I mistook it to some Turbo issue. Anyways, I stopped the car and noticed a lot of black powder/dust on the front alloys (both sides but more on the left side). The alloys had over-heated and I decided to cool it off in a shade for 15 - 20 minutes. When we re-started the journey I realized that the breaks had almost become ineffective and hence drove it slowly till Trivandrum by breaking the journey once every 50 kms to avoid excessive heating of alloys. At Trivandrum, I drove the car straight into Deedi Service station where the service guys immediately checked and told me that all the pads need replacement. I approved and paid around INR 27k for replacement of set of 4.

Woah! Why 27K for a set of 4 brake pads?

Front and Rear total cost Rs.13,xxx ( 8K odd for front and 5K odd for rear)

Could you please share the break-up of the bill here?

Oh my! I don't why I always felt that I had paid INR 27K. After seeing your note, I checked with brother-in-law at Trivandrum where I had left the invoice. He confirmed that the bill amount is indeed INR 13,250 (including labor charges).

Some of the Cruze owners from Chennai and Coimbatore are meeting Area Manager, GM at Yercaud to give our feed back on various issues like ASS, recurring problems, parts costs and upcoming changes to the Cruze.

The plan is to drive to Yercaud, discuss, have lunch then drive back.

The drive to Yercaud was cancelled. Instead 13 of the owners with friends and family decided to meet at a restaurant on East Coast Road to discuss the various issues they are facing with the car. Only 6 were able to make it to the meet. Here are few photos. SameerSultan might post more.

Key points from the meet:
Form a WhatsApp group.
AC Issue most common and persistent.
Upgrades and mods.
Place and time for next meet.

Every owner was delighted with his car.

Note: Mobike008 or other mods, please merge this post with my previous post if possible. Thank you.

@mobike008 - Apologies if this was asked before. Would installing the race dynamics box void the warranty assuming the car is still under the warranty? Does the authorised service centre have anything to say in this aspect?
