Re: Chevrolet Beat : Test Drive & Review

Stop trolling me now. Hahaha. Btw did you a good offer on your wheels? I want to upgrade to 175 Yoko but the dealer is not too keen on the 155 as he's not sure he would be able to sell them to anyone else but a beat owner. What sort of a deal did you get? Also if folks in Delhi could recommend a decent chat where I can expect a fair deal. Universal seems a little too arrogant for his own good.

Mods didn't take too kindly of our discussion. Anyway.

I got Yoko A drives for an absolutely killer price. I exchanged my 2.8k run vectras for 1950 each. Yokos were 4k each. So do that maths!

Most places would give a maximum of 1k for my tyres, I was just lucky. How many kms have you tyres run?

Well mine are much much older. Two have had punctures before so after 17k of odo he offered 800 bucks for each. I wanted them before my Bombay trip since it turned out to be really expensive I skipped the offer. Now I am 23 k+ I'm wondering if I should just wait till 40k and buy new ones. Makes sense?

Re: Chevrolet Beat : Test Drive & Review

Hi!

Need assistance and inputs on a few things.

After concluding the long 3k drive I can feel a slight vibration in the car. This vibration can be heard and felt even when the car is on idle. Can even feel it on the steering wheel. I plan to give it to ASC but don't want to be ripped off as Metro Vasant Kunj diagnosis 10 other things.

Second, I can feel like the steering is not steady and a bit harsh. Though wheel alignment seems obvious here do you think power steering fluid also needs a refill?

My car has run 23.5 kms. The last service was before my trip at 20k.

Need your urgent advice as tomorrow being a day off I can get whatever the issue is fixed.

The first seems to a wheel balancing issue. I had the same and got corrected after a balance. The vibration was pronounced on the steering when the A/C condenser fan goes on. The second is pointing towards wheel alignment gone wrong. Since you will be giving the car to the service center, and since they might take the wheel out for brake cleaning and rotating, it would be advisable to get the wheel balancing and alignment done from the service center itself. Otherwise, a reputed tire dealer outside could have done it better.

Re: Chevrolet Beat : Test Drive & Review

Hey Thoma!

So wheel balancing and alignment is what I'll need to get done. I could feel the tires making a weird impact on uneven surfaces. Thank you so much.

Re: Chevrolet Beat : Test Drive & Review

I want to clarify something. I am going for my 5k/6months service tomorrow to Kropex Bangalore. Is this a paid service? As in will I get a bill for any amount? Also, I assume they will do Wheel balancing/alignment.

Based on feedback of other people I don't want to give my Beat for wheel balancing/alignment to Kropex since they may mess it up, especially if I am paying for it. I rather get it done outside.

I don't have the 3 year Chevy Promise thingy. Just the normal warranty & service stuff.

Re: Chevrolet Beat : Test Drive & Review

If I remember correctly bud three services are free. Beyond that is chargeable. In any case go through the booklet to know what all needs to be done to the car. In my experiences with Chevy, its best to TD the car as sometimes they slack and do half a job.

If I remember correctly, the 1k checkup and the 5k service is free. But the wheel alignment and balancing are not considered under routine service and is chargeable separately. And the 10k and 15k services are paid. Just check the booklet and let us know too.

Re: Chevrolet Beat : Test Drive & Review

As it turns out, 5k is a free service, they do the usual checking, top up liquid type work. Wheel balancing & alignment is optional and if you want it you need to pay for it.

Gave my car in the morning, mad mad rush for servicing in Kropex Bangalore, around 30 cars came between 9-930am, 80% being sparks for some reason.

Will get it back today at 6pm. Hope they are able to sort the fuel pump noise issue. The SA said that they have been informed about the fure pump sound by GM in mostly petrol Beats and even some customers have come complaining about it. Apparently if the 'earthing' does not solve it, it will require a replacement.

Well you should avoid ASC on weekends. I rushed up early morning and the only reason I'm done before the others is because of the BHP sticker. Haha xD

Yes, going on a weekday makes sense however this time around I was short on time and I had crossed 5k kms (5154 to be exact).

TBHP stickers don't work in Kropex Bangalore, not even the 7 on my car
______

Got my car back finally at around 5:15pm. Disappointed with Kropex. They said they would sort the fuel pump issue and guess what they didn't. Apart from that they scraped my recently painted rear bumper and flooded my LED sill plates.

Will mention my experience with them in the correct thread, not here.

Seems like I need to get my fuel pump replaced.

My car is partially better than before. It was already buttery smooth before the service so I wasn't expecting anything on that front. A.C has become more of a chiller because of cleaning the filter. The ride has become stiffer. I guess its because they would have filled >32psi air.

Apart from the fuel pump sound and the scratches all around my Beat is awesome!!!

Re: Chevrolet Beat : Test Drive & Review

They scraped your recently painted rear bumper and you let them get away? Aren't you being a little too kind?

I think you're being kind because your car is otherwise awesome but you're letting them get away.

My car on pick up and drop was scratched by a Chevy driver. When the car was returned and post inspection I called them and fired the living day lights of the manager and asked them to fix it.

The scratch was repainted and the little noise from the door was fixed immediately.

It's your basic right as a consumer if any damages are done to your vehicle that they have it fixed. I understand the comfort of having a buttery smooth car and avoiding conflict with thick skin dealers but remember how much you've shelled out for your car.

Call them brother and have them fix your call, its your right. A few months down the line when you face a few niggles then it would hurt a lot more.

Also treat me at Fanoos (did I spell it right?) for giving you this priceless piece of advice.

Cheers!

Hold on to your 80.5 horses bro!!

Yes I complained, told the SA that I am not leaving until they will repair it. However, as it was getting late (and I was quite unwell yesterday) I was not able to stay longer. I forced him to write down that the scratch was caused by Kropex and they would repair it the next time I come.

I have to go there again anyway to get my fuel pump replaced so the scratch can be touched up then.

Its quite a minor one and its in the same place where I usually end of
scratching my Beat while parking in my 'excuse for a parking place'.

BTW, do you get charged extra for the pick up and drop service. Doesn't matter though, I am too possessive about my Beat to let anyone drive it apart from me, let alone a mechanic/SA from Kropex.

P:S The treat at Fanoos is waiting, you arent here
