Hello!

An increase in Mileage but please don't ask me how since I am not doing anything different.
100% city run and it is giving me 14.06 per litre. I am surprised that it crossed the 13 mark.

Also I can hear a ticking sound from the cabin somewhere around the steering wheel. Any idea what this can be?

Very close to clocking 30k so the service is due. I think the damage to the wallet shall be severe. Any members who've been through the 30k servicing?

Re: Chevrolet Beat : Test Drive & Review

@AbhishekB86 More mileage is due to fall in temperature. Me too getting 13+ kmpl currently and got close to 15.5 kmpl last December/January in 100% City ride condition (w/o AC of course).

Cheers!

Re: Chevrolet Beat : Test Drive & Review

Hi everybody
My beat's gear does not slot cleanly.
AFAIK it is 2 minute job of some tightening.
Should I take it to my neighborhood mechanic or should I take it to A*S*S(10 kms away)
Regards

Hi faustus,

I too had the same problem. Try getting the clutch wire tightened at FNG and see, it should work- and ask him to grease the gear lever as well.

Re: Chevrolet Beat : Test Drive & Review

Ah, posting on this thread after a long time!

Am due for my 10k service in a couple of days, was wondering if anyone could give me a heads-up on what I should/would be getting done during the same.

Also, wanted to ask fellow Beat owners regarding how effective they find the AC and at what temp/blower setting you guys use it. Off late (more like 2-3 months) I have found my AC to be inadequate. Keeping it at 19C I need to keep the blower at atleast 4 lines or above to get any sort of decent cooling out of it. If its a sunny day, then I need to keep it at 6 atleast. To keep in mind that Bangalore isn't really a hot place. Maybe something is up with my vents.

On the FE font, I've been getting anything between 10.5-11.5 in Bangalore's B2B traffic, no signs of improvement however, can't blame my lil Beat for its owners itchy right foot

Yes myavu I am actually shocked at what I saw. My car before the last refuel had gone through some terrible peak hour traffic along with the Diwali chaos. I was stuck every single day and was sick of driving. However I got a F.E of 15.19 km per ltr. Maybe winter should stay all year round

Haha. A combination of cold weather with no air conditioning and BP COCO pump. Beyond that, law of attraction maybe?

Superutp, it could be a clogged Pollen filter that's the culprit.
There is always a noticable improvement in AC performance after a filter clean up!
Guess its scheduled to be replaced at the 10K service

As Auto freak mentioned it is due to pollen filter clogging. How many months back did you clean it? If you keep recirculation off most of the time, you should clean your filter once in 2 months else once in 3 months respectively. It is a 15 minutes DIY job and well explained in the manual

Yes! even 16 kmpl is achievable. I had filled 29.33 L on 2nd November and till morning ODO stands at 312km. Fuel indicator stands at midway. Hope another 120 odd kms is achievable. My car turned 2.5 years today (ODO 17450) and 5th service is slated for tomorrow. Will update on the same tomorrow.

Cheers!

Re: Chevrolet Beat : Test Drive & Review

Dear Guys,

Yesterday my Beat's 5th service done at Metro Chevrolet.

Chevrolet Beat : Test Drive & Review-beats-5th-service.jpg

Total Cost : Rs.4247/-

Paid service : 975

Labour : 1425

Engine Oil : 1050 (Total) too changed

Everything was reverse at service. First complete wash, then wiping and polishing, then Engine Oil/Filter change, exhaust clean, throttle body clean, lubrication, etc. At last a finishing wiping and Car is ready.

In time 9.30am out time 2.00pm.

Wasted 30 minutes because cashier gone for lunch.

Yesterday whole Delhi was there for service. Till 12.30 there was 80 cars (lots of Cruze too) as per SA. Many was pouring in after that too. With Sail - UVA's launch I think GM should think about more service centers or increase capacity of existing ones.
By the way, in between I managed to test drive Sail - UVA LT TCDI for 7 KMs. Good Car! (owns an existing UVA LT) Not a single complaint but one. HORN! For normal driving it is fine. But need to press horn while a sharp turn is really tricky.

Cheers!

Vinu

You guys are lucky to be getting such FE! How abt an engine exchange transplant??actually, a brain transplant is what is required for me inorder to drive smoother and more economically.

Yup the pollen filter was the culprit with regards to the AC performing miserably.

Went for my 10k service today to Trident Chevrolet (decided to try out Trident instead of Kropex which is where I bought the car).

Trident have this new service facility in Indiranagar Bangalore which is not mentioned anywhere online. Reached by 9:15 in the morning. I was the second car there. Of course being a weekday I didn't expect to see many cars. Got delivery at 1:00pm and by the time I left there were around 5-6 cars.

So the 10k service just involved checkup of everything. My pollen filter was black in colour and all choked up. Had to get it replaced. Got Wheel Balancing and Wheel alignment done (Hadnt got them done when I changed my tyres when my Beat was at 2.5k).

Overall experience was decent. I regret buying a black colour car even though I still believe the Beat looks the best in Black. My car hadnt been washed in a month so It was actually dusty brown in colour when it went in and came back out all shiny Black. Really felt I had taken delivery for a new Beat. On close inspection of my paint though, the story is different, its full of micro scratches and swirl marks. Need to head to a professional car detailer and get stuff done.

Anyway: Total Bill: 1470

I hadnt expected the filter to need a relacement so fast, so was a bit disappointed spending 500 bucks on it. But the difference in AC is huge now.

Car was super smooth before the service and still is, no impact on that front. Had to drive around 40 kms after I took service so it gave me a chance to make sure things are fine.

FE should hopefully (read: PRAY) improve with the improved AC since I was using the AC at much higher speeds before the filter replacement.

Oh, not to forget that there was a dead rat in my engine bay Luckily, it got electrocuted/burnt/ before it could bite into any wires. Need to be really careful now.

We have a black car at home and I can relate to what you mention. The micro scratches can be fixed by a waxing session at home after a good weekend wash. A brand called FormulaOne works well with me.

Its tough to take care of but it's a black car that leaves us with most satisfaction after a wash!

Re: Chevrolet Beat : Test Drive & Review

Hi Guys,

Quick Question: Does any one know any mail id of any higher ups in Chevrolet/GM. As mentioned earlier, I am outside the country and Kropex is not servicing my car unless they have the service book. The problem is that I am out of the country and my Service book is locked up in my house. However, the car keys are with a friend who can service the car if necessary :(

Guess it is a service for which they need the coupon in the book. Try asking gmi.cac@gm.com
