The service guys said only 2 or 3 beats had this problem and this is due to the interiors being exposed to very high temperature which i think the justification is a non sense. Now i had kept a gear knob cover to cover the mess..

I had problem with the gear knob alone and the rest of the plastics inside the car looks Pristine.
I've had the same issue as well in Ahmedabad and got the same explanation from 3 different service stations. Makes sense I suppose, I mean daytime temperatures reach upto 45 degrees and above in the summer and I have a black car with black seats. If you actually check the interior temperature during summer days, its often above 50 degrees or so. After two years or so, my gear knob is nearly smooth because all the pieces have fallen off. It's nearly 2k to fix and I don't see the point, its fine as is.

Sent my car in today for the 65k service as well as the fuel line recall. Was waiting months for the part to come in. Other than that, car seems to be running fine. About a month ago, I had the low oil pressure light come on, checked the oil level and it was alright, but I didn't want to take the risk so I called the breakdown line and had them check it out and take it. Turns out the oil pressure sensor had gone. Cost 400 rupees to replace including labor plus the 500 for breakdown service. I know I could have driven the car since I checked the oil level personally, but why take the risk right? Getting decent mileage with the a/c on, anywhere from 370-400 km on a tank with mixed highway and city driving. Pure city driving leaves me with 300 km to a tank nearly. Height of summer + full a/c + stop and go the entire time. Was getting nearly 450 to a tank if only highway driving with minimal traffic.

Re: Chevrolet Beat : Test Drive & Review

Hi everybody.
Need some guidance. Please help.
There was a free check up camp at Nikhil Motors.
Sent my 2010 Beat. They washed and checked for a couple of hours.
They found that the coolant needed top up and topped it with green repeat green one. I remembered the coolant used was a red one. They didnt charge anything so it would be a small quantity.
My question is, if the earlier used was red will a top up of green be troublesome or it is ok?
Thanks a lot in advance
Regards

Re: Chevrolet Beat : Test Drive & Review

I was out town for two years, Lost the last free service for Three Year free Maintenance, Came back & spend more than INR 19,000/- including oil changes & different things in Dhulichand Motors (Kolkata). But still, I could not feel same feelings while driving, when I first bought it first time i.e. Oct'2010 or rather when I used to drive around.

After the servicing, I complained of old second gear under-acceleration problem. They re-tuned it and Now, It vibrates at idle just like a diesel ambassador or may be worse.

Friends, being a novice in maintenance. Please suggest me, what to rectify? I'm totally confused.

Please Help, Masters......

Hi Joy,

What do you mean by retuning? Did they do some adjustments in the clutch wire or engine settings. Please talk to your Service Advisor and let us know what was done. Also, please ensure that your ECU is in the version 3 or "2nd gear driveability " setting. Get them to check the play of your clutch wire, and check for worn out engine rubber mountings. If required, replace them .

In other news, my Heartbeat and I are coming to Kol soon

Re: Chevrolet Beat : Test Drive & Review

Ok Guys,

I had visited Kropex Singasandra today. Since I am moving to London/Venice in India , my mouth watered when I saw that 3M underbody coating was displayed with a 10% discount(with 5 year checkup and warantee) and a free A/C duct cleaning thrown in. They also did change some wiring loom FOC (my car is out of warantee remember?). I was also given a Chevrolet branded wall clock as a freebie
I intend to have the car serviced before heading off to Bong land, which entails change of Engine oil and pollen filter and electrical checkup.

What do you guys suggest - Kropex or Bay6 or any other place?
Also,
1. Can anyone share with me the url to buy pollen filter online?
2. Is it advisable to get the engine oil changed at shell (5W30s, if I remember correctly)?

Re: Chevrolet Beat : Test Drive & Review

Beat D is still a good car. Definitely VFM over 2 pot Celerio diesel.

Aside to bangalore folks: I need to get my electricals and A/c checked. Can anyone suggest any reliable FNG who can do the job?

Chevrolet Teases New Beat for India - coming 2017.

Name: New2017ChevroletBeatTeaserPicIndia752x440.jpg
Views: 2244
Size: 64.9 KB

This will be an Indian version of the car and new 2017 Indian Beat resembles the current production version but has a few traits of the international model.

Engine details are not yet known, but could carry the existing engine variants.

Quote:
Here are a few key pointers which we can be expected
•As a first the 2017 Beat retains the tall-boy design of the current car.
•The sweptback headlamps are all-new and do NOT resemble the international version (nor the current version on sale)
•The muscular bonnet creases have been retained.
•The nose carries heavy resemblance with the international version. It gets a sleeker grille but a bigger air-dam.
•Fog lamp housing also appears to have a resemblance with the international Beat.
•The tail lamps also are bulged out, like the international version.
•Roof-rails are absent in the teaser pic. They are not present in the international version as well, however, form an intrinsic design element of our current version of Beat.

Re: Chevrolet Beat : Test Drive & Review

Fresh update: Just came back after installing HID in my Fog lamps. I insisted on having the focussing done properly, so as not to inconvenience oncoming traffic. Pics coming soon.

Re: Chevrolet Beat : Test Drive & Review

Has anyone switched to CNG here?
Experience so far?

I'm planning to switch to CNG because my daily running is now more than 50 KM's.
Quotes for tomasetto cng kit (closed loop) from a local was 33k witout RC and 36k with RC.
Where should I get the kit installed from?
Help will be appreciated.

Re: Chevrolet Beat : Test Drive & Review

The rubberised coating on my gear shifter has suddenly cracked in the last week. I believe only the full gear stick can be replaced by Chevy and not just the knob correct ?
Anyone know of a good tight cover that can go over the knob ?

Correct, no gear knob replacement only

Please check if the gear lever replacement can be done at a nearby Accessories shop. That way you can buy a swanky looking gear knob with the new lever.

Else you have to go to Chevy A.S.S and buy another of those boring looking knob + lever

Will wait for your feedback, and how it goes. I am itching to replace my gear knob (it is fine though, just for looks).

Re: Chevrolet Beat : Test Drive & Review

I think its a waste to get a whole new lever, even aftermarket. Im looking at getting a tight leather or faux leather cover stitched over it if I can. As such from what I could see the rubber bit is just a 3-4mm layer over the actual knob so even if it did come off completely I can still manage fine. Im going to be replacing my tyres next as Ive done 4.5 years and 35k km on the stock ones.
Im just wondering if its worth repainting the wheels as they have some rust spots on them. Painting will cost approx 1000 each. I will be selling the car in 1-1.5 years so wondering if its worth it.
