Same as me topolino , thanks for the break-up ; seems I wont be going for it in this case. But I just hope they give me the delivery asap. It was promised to me today and now 2 days delayed.

As per scheduled maintenance, for every 5000 km, regular service cost (as per prevailing market rate) would be as follows:
a) Engine Oil + Oil Filter Change - Rs. 1300
b) Wheel Balancing/Alignment and Tyre Rotation - Rs. 200
c) Air Cleaner Cleaning, Spark Plug Cleaning, Pollen Filter Cleaning, Inspection of fluid levels, Electricals, Braking System, Chasis & Underbody Bolts & Nuts and Thorogh Car Wash - Rs. 300
TOTAL - Rs. 1800.

Routine service would cost around Rs. 3600 for every 10000 km or 1 year.

As per Scheduled Maintenance for every 10000 km Pollen Filter and after 30000 km Spark Plugs, Fuel filter, Air Cleaner Element and Brake Fluid are to be changed. In addition Drive Shaft Boots may also require replacement. Altogether these will cost around Rs. 2000.

So Total Service Cost for 30000km/3years would be 3600 x 3 = 10800 + 2000 = Rs. 12800.
Most of us guys have the same extreme driving conditions.
To my knowledge, as the first 4 services (first 2years) are free, will the maintenance cost be just engine oil cost, or will that be included for free too?

Has anyone completed their 5000 km first service. How much did it cost?

The Rs.13499 Free maintenance pack will cover spare parts cost too.
So I feel it is worth taking it. Right?

Beat LS PLUS(+) & some updates on my Beat

Last Sunday KUN Chevrolet Hyderabad conducted free monsoon checkup. I met few beat owners there. When enquired about mileage they are getting, they said 12, 13 average. Mine is 3 months old now and last time I checked yesterday, it gave me 12.6 kmpl with 50% times, 50% AC. But atleast I am happy that it was slightly increased than my past number 11. I hope I will get a decent number soon.

I saw a beat with parking sensors installed (White beat with black sensors)
They said will paint with same body color aslo for rs.300. xtra
Another with chevy seat covers Rs.4500 Premium quality with Chevy logo.

Another Beat LS+ (Little interesting) - This is modded version given from the showroom guys for an extra cost of 16000. Hyd on road came to 4.56L incl registration. This has roof rails, sony xplod HU + with 4 sony speakers, body colored mirrors with led indicators, carbon black finish inside.

This does NOT have fog lamps, obviously no integrated HU + ACC, no bodycolor door handles. But still looking almost like LT to outside.

Next time I go to service center I'll take my camera hoping to find interesting pics.

One more thing..
I scratched my back bumper badly. No dents. But paint removed in lot of places. I was backing up in dark and scatched against a wall. Got it repainted for Rs. 1000 (Bargained from 1500) in the chevy service center. And it is like brand new now. Cocktail green color. Great job work done.

PROMLEMS faced so far in my beat..
1. The rear wiper fell off while shutting the door. They fixed it. Basically cheap plastics. Happened 30 days after buying.
2. Last 2 days (3 months old beat) I am observing chipping sound from my front driver side speaker. LT OEM speakers looks like cheap. I'll take it to the service center and get it checked. But I used to like the sound quality earlier this problem.

No complaints on the engine.

Yes, even I felt this is a good value for money option. I had posted about this here: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/test-d...ml#post1858484

Even Orange Chevrolet conducted the same Beat free checkup last weekend, but I did not go for it since I'd just completed my first checkup a month back -- and didn't think it was necessary.

And I agree redlaw about their paint job. I had badly dented my right front and back doors while parking. After getting it back, I couldn't even recognize where the dents were (although the repairs did not come cheap)

I'm getting 14 now with 100% AC on and 100% city driving. Car has some 3800 km run so far.

My rear wiper also came off when I closed the hatch. I have to get that fixed.

I don't think you should go for CPCOO, even with estimated running of 30000 km for next 3 years I didn't opt CPCOO. In my opinion if one's estimated running for next 3 years would be in excess of 35000 km, then only one should opt CPCOO.

Service schedule for Beat is as follows:
1. 1000km / 30 days Reassuarance Check-up (whichever is earlier) - free
2. Ist Service Check 6 months / 5000 kms (whichever is earlier) - Labour free & Parts are chargeable
3. 2nd Service Check 1 year / 10000 kms (whichever is earlier) - Labour free & Parts are chargeable
4. 3rd Service Check 1.5 years / 15000 kms (whichever is earlier) - Labour & Parts are chargeable
5. 4th Service Check 2 years / 20000 kms (whichever is earlier) - Labour & Parts are chargeable.
To keep the warranty in effect one has to get vehicle inspected at Authorised Service Centre according to this schedule.

In first 2 Services, only labour is free and parts are chargeable.
All routine check-ups as given in the Owner's Manual Page nos. 134-136 will be carried out free of cost. Only cost of parts will be charged.
Engine oil will cost Rs. 1100,
Oil Filter will cost Rs. 140,
i.e. Total Rs. 1240.
So total expenses on 1st + 2nd service for first year should not exceed Rs. 2500.
According to my calculation service cost would be around Rs. 3600/year (as per prevailing market rates). Even if you add 10% increase in parts and labour charges each year, service cost for 2nd & 3rd years would account for Rs. 4000 & 4500 respectively.
So for a car having a running of 30000 km for next 3 years total service cost would certainly not exceed Rs 11000 (2500+4000+4500).

I have completed 2000 km and overall FE is ~16kmpl with 80% AC ON. Salbin is also consistently getiing a figure of 16 kmpl. So as the kms build up your FE too will get better.

No so, Salbin. Upgrading the tyres could also mean using better quality rubber (say, swapping OEM MRFs with Yokohamas) and retaining the exact same size.

Dear Beat Owners,
Before opting CPCOO please consider the following points.

1. CPCOO does not cover repairs arising due to accident, external damage, natural calamities like earthquake, storm/hail storm/waterlogged roads and damage caused by chemicals/salts/stone chippings, scratches or any other external circumstances like external mechanical or chemical influences.
- If someone's car gets stuck in the waterlogged road during monsoon and because of which wheels and brakes require servicing, then such servicing will not be covered under the CPCOO.

2. Car care products are not covered under the CPCOO.
- Owners will have to pay for the car shampoo, car wax and polishing, interior fabric/leather cleaning and plastic/vinyl parts polishing.

3. If repairs/replacement of parts is done at the request of customer, irrespective of the repair or replacement not being required without the performance of the vehicle being affected in the opinion of CSIPL/authorised dealers/authorised service outlets, the cost of replacement will not be considered under the CPCOO.
I think this point is going to raise lots of debate.
According to the Maintenance schedule,
(a) under normal driving condition engine oil and filter are to be changed every 15000 km or 1.5 years whichever is earlier.
(b) under extreme operating condition engine oil and filter are to be changed every 5000 km or 6 months whichever is earlier.
Most of us are driving under extreme operating condition, so according to the Owner's Manual engine oil and filter requires replacement every 5000 km / 6 months. But in terms and conditions of CPCOO it is mentioned that whether replacement is required or not it will be decided by the CSIPL/authorised dealers/authorised service outlets.
I know that it will be very hard to convince the authorised dealers/authorised service outlets that according to the Owner's Manual your car requires engine oil & filter change. The service manager will certainly argue that they know better about the car and such change is not required before 15000 km / 1.5 years.

In my opinion before opting CPCOO visit Authorised Service Centre and get clarification on the last point. Ask the Service Manager "what would be the schedule for the change of engine oil and filter, the car being driven in extreme operating condition".

Today I checked the FE.
This time it was 14.5kmpl with xtrapremium. Mostly with AC.
I have got mixed results with xtrapremium - first time 16.9kmpl & this time 14.5kmpl.
Anyway, the overall FE for ~3500kms till date is ~15kmpl.
So my avg fuel cost is Rs.3.5/km.

Yes- Same case with my wife also.

Thaks GTO for pointing out this.
But in case of Beat, those who are planning to buy Yokos will not prefer to go for 155/70. IMHO they will be definitely opting for wider ones.

Hey fellow beat owners and future beat owners.

Found another manufacturing defect, My beat's rear door has sagged and makes a very loud screeching noise when opened or closed.

Will take it to GM and see what happens.
If some of you folks are either driving or riding shotgun and rarely open rear doors like me, please do so. Just to check.

Cheers

Did a 300KM highway trip a few days back. Got FE of 16.5 with 100% AC on.
Not to mention I was driving beyond the economy range (80-120 kmph). Overall not bad.

Does feel like driving a boat with speeds above 100 due to no steering feedback and a considerable body roll. But still behaves better than I10 though engine is not that responsive. Upgrading or even up-sizing tyres is must for highway drives.

However engine is extremely refined. (Even till 120Kmph @ 3500RPM) Ride quality was the best part. AC was the next best thing. Seats were pretty comfortable as well. No back pain in the front seat.

Open the boot from the driver seat. Then come out. Close the front door. You will find the boot locked up again. You need to close the front door extremely carefully so that the backdoor dont get locked up. Design flaw or intentional?

A friend of mine is also having the same issue in his 4 months OLD BEAT.

Do let us know if you get any update from GM.

freak mishap today .

hi friends ,

i had a freak mishap with a tempo driver , i was heading straight thorugh a signal and the tempo driver was on my left . without any warning he manuovered the tempo to his right . i tried to do my best but bad luck his rear steel body cut into the front body of my vehicle .

the beat has got a deep cut to the left body above the headlamp and the tempo body also did a dent to the car .

feels very sad ,to have your new car get a dent and cut even after driving very carefully, i caught the tempo driver at the next signal and he pleaded to leave him as the tempo belong to his boss and he would be removed from the job .

however i am thinking of doing a police complaint . against the tempo driver and his boss .

can i calim insurance and get the cut/dent repaired or should i do it at an garage . please advise which would be cost effective and easier .

thank god for giving me the presence of mind and keeping the damage to minimum . i would advise all of you to take care and beware of such morons on roads .

Vihang, sorry to hear that. Trust me, I've gone through the same kind of pain. It was worse because I didn't have anyone to blame - it was all my stupidity due to which there were deep dents/scratches on the middle of the right front and back doors.

I would suggest you don't think about it again - simply GO FOR INSURANCE! The Chevy guys (at least my dealers - Orange service centre) did an absolutely fabulous job - I can't even recognize the dent.. its exactly same as the undented doors.

Mind you this will not come cheap. For me the total cost was around 12k, but insurance brought it down to 3.5k ish. However, I'd say it has been worth it!
