Yes, that is a big difference between Figo vs Polo or i10 or i20 or Punto.

Except Figo all others are current worldwide models of the respective companies. If only Ford had made FIGO from scratch, as a worldwide model with India as production base rather than stripdown and resize an old model Fiesta....

This reduces the brandvalue of Figo a lot and maybe the resale vaue too..
one big grouse which IKON owners had was their resale value which plumetted within 3 years of purchase even though the vehicle was still in production in India.

Customers are so much confused wilth all these options

Mods: With so much competition in the big hatch segment, please start a new thread comparing Polo vs Punto vs Figo vs i20 vs Jazz and SWIFT, may be we can leave Fabia as it is waiting a natural death.

But Swift and Figo is one size smaller. IMHO, it should be left out.

What is Maruti doing ?

What should be cooking in Maruti's mind With launches of Beat, Figo and now Polo with attractive prices ? I guess its time for MSIL to reduce the prices of Swift petrol with 40 K which they are saving with 1.2 L K Series engine in excise duty. It will really make Swift more VFM package & will surely beat the sales of these 3 cars from going to top. Else MSIL will definitely going to suffer with sales numbers

I do not see this happening, reasons being - 1. maruti still has that brand image, and at worst swift would take a marginal hit, if at all. 2. maruti would never position swift below ritz. Even if maruti pass on half of the excise duty savings, swift would be cheaper than ritz. I personally think they should do that, but don't see that coming.

Made a quick visit to the new VW showroom in city. They had planned to inaugurate the showroom on 3rd March and begin the delivery of Polo, but postponed the date to the 4th week of March. The showroom had 3 cars-2 Highline (Red, White) and a Comfortline (Silver). The test drive is expected to start by 20th of this month.

Red was obviously the flashy among the pak, but white was something else in its sheer pleasantness and understated beauty. The build quality, fit and finish is better than Punto and the rear leg room is slightly more than in Punto. In the looks department, it would be a brilliant fight between Punto's flair and Polo's robustness. The steering was bit let down when compared to Fabia/ Punto. The Aircon went could have been designed more aesthetically and also with bit more quality materials. As for other aspects, only the TD would reveal the truth.

Whoa! 23k insurance for a 4.34Lakh car! Is VW recovering some cost from insurance amounts?

The car looks very good, but the insurance amount is on the higher side compared to other cars.

I checked out the Polo at the 'Relio Quick Auto Mall-2010' in Mumbai. The front 3-quarter looks beautifully designed. The rear was a bit bland. Interior quality is simply outstanding! From the door handles, to the small switches and buttons, everything felt good to touch. Rear space was quite cramped but front seats offered great support and was very comfortable.
Here are some pictures of the Comfortline variant that was displayed there...

Barring the engine, I think Polo Trendline is better equipped than a Swift VXi. And they are almost the same price. There is no point in comparing a Polo trendline to a Swift LXi, because feature sets just don't match

Only highline comes with basic mp3 player. No line-in or USB port even in highline variant.
