Thanks Vik,
Would have loved to have the GT, but decided otherwise due to the budget.
I had planned on getting the HL when I entered the showroom, but when I saw the difference between the two in features, the CL suited.
- No ACC
- No steering controls
- No smoked headlamps.
I could do without these and save some more bucks.

Just got a call from VW Pune West, saying they have started accepting the bookings for POLO GT TSI 2014 facelift with amount of 50K and that deliveries would start in September 2014.

Re: Volkswagen Polo : Test Drive & Review

Have booked the new Polo Highline Tdi.
Although, still confused regarding the colour - steel grey or copper orange or ?

Had visited VW Delhi West to 'see' the new Polo, am happy with the changes.
Cornering Foglamps in Highline only are confirmed.
Rest all new features have been discussed here.

The guy there said the GT version might not have anything extra over and above the highline, apart from that little extra power, have no particular reason to not believe him.

What remains to be seen, is how the new engine performs.

.
Copper orange would be harder to maintain. Scratches, dust and dirt would be quite visible. However, the color is simply something to drool over, imho. Looks a real scorcher.

Steel grey is more classy, and easier to maintain. However, steel grey is a sedan color in my opinion.

Orange= sporty, hard to maintain
Grey= classy, easier to maintain

Take your pick, and congratulations on the new car! :-)

Will the new blue shade be available here? And will the GTs be available in other colors too?

Thanks cr4nkshaft !

Had again visited VW Delhi West -

The new blue colour was confirmed by the guy there, so more choice and confusion, but the blue one will be the best I suppose, and I might go for it.

The GT variants are a couple of months away as per the guy at VW Delhi West.

The regular polo variants will be priced almost the same as the previous ones even the diesel ones despite the new engine and the guy said that has been possible as compared to the old engine the new engine is completely built in India and thus there are excise benefits.

Re: Volkswagen Polo : Test Drive & Review

The new blue color on the Polo is a stunner especially in sunlight. When I bought a Polo 8 months back, asked for it and the reflex silver. There was enormous waiting time for these colors and I opted for Pepper Grey.

Nevertheless, the Pepper grey color is quite impressive, elegant in a understated way and we are happy with it.

New version of Polo has been launched with a 1.5LTDI engine along with other minor face-lifts.The old 1.2 engine continues to power the Petrol variant.
The changes are mainly to the headlamp which is dual beam now and a sporty steering wheel with blue tooth & voice command control. is added. An introductory starting price of Rs 4.99 lakhs is announced.

If you're referring to the Mayan Blue non-metallic shade, i.e this one:

Volkswagen Polo : Test Drive & Review-vwpolo_600e600x400.jpg

India will not be getting this shade sadly. We are getting the Night Blue version, carried over from the previous models and the Vento.

Go for the Red one. IMO polo looks best in that color. Blue color is little difficult to maintain. And could you please confirm how much will be the otr price.

Sorry to correct you Gannu,

Night blue is not the same blue which was available in Vento and 6R polo. The color was shadow blue.

Night blue is darker than shadow blue. Here is the difference

I own a shadow blue Vento hence the clarification, but night blue is superior especially for new polo, it will look awesome with those black dual barrel headlights, chrome front and super alloys.

Re: Volkswagen Polo : Test Drive & Review

I would have very much liked to buy a VW Polo Manual 1.2 Tsi but sadly there is none forthcoming.

Can the VW Polo 1.2 Petrol ECU be remapped or other performance enhancements done after the warranty period? Anyone with experience / knowledge on this can help?

Hey gsurya I am not an expert on this, but I can try answering your queries. In any case, please do wait for some expert opinion.

If I am right, any car with ECU can be remapped. It is just about reprogramming the maps loaded by the manufacturer, which ofcourse requires immense domain knowledge.

But an expert who can remap will upfront admit that the performance gains on a N.A (Naturally Aspirated) engines like Polo 1.2 MPi are less or negligible. Driveability will surely improve but nothing extravagent will ever happen.

Turbocharged engines, whether Petrol or Diesel, respond better to remaps.

OT - gsurya why don't you hold on till the Bolt with 1.2 Revtron engine is here. Anyday, a remap on this engine will be better than on a Polo 1.2 MPi.
