It seems in the current new wagon r cars, MID displays Fuel economy and distance to empty. Can someone confirm this?

It was there in the Stringray models from day one. I'm not sure about the regular models though. It didn't have the reading till the 2014 model year (regular) for sure. Newer models now come without the rear fog lamp and the Stringray type music system. Not sure about the MID display though.

My 2017 Wagon R has a range as well FE. And I think it is the same as Distance to Empty.

Thanks for this!! Seems like this was added when strignray model was stopped and it was re branded as Vxi+ model. Not sure why MSIL doesnt advertise this feature explicitly!

Forgot to add in the previous post. This is the best that I could achieve in 20k kms of driving. No A/C, 50% City and 50% highway, tank full to tank full FE derived was 19.2kmpl.

Just booked the Vxi+ AMT version for my wife. Expected to deliver next week. Colour is Midnight Blue. My wife test drove altok10 amt, celerio amt , kwid amt , tiago amt and was happy with the WagonR ( Go figure) , she drives an ecoport now and we planned to get this mainly for the AMT factor (40kms a day in bumper to bumper traffic). The manual Ecosport was taking a toll especially the heavier clutch. On road price at 5.8 chennai including B2B insurance, Extended Warranty for 5 years, Seat Covers, Reverse parking sensor , mudflaps , mats. The WagonR still seems to sell well. The dealership was pushing for the Vxi AMT ( traditional looking wagonR) but we wanted something alittle extra. Hence the version which was the old Stingray.

re: Review: 2nd-gen Maruti WagonR (2010)

I am hearing a chirping noise from engine bay when the car is in neutral. If I give a very slight pressure to the clutch pedal (anywhere), the sound stops. What could be the reason?

Happens to my car as well, in fact quite often. Get the clutch cable adjusted, and it should vanish.

On a lighter note, posting this Facebook link on Wagon R. I do not own a Wagon R but I've rented it on a couple of occasions when it did a fantastic job of moving people. That's why it still sells in a huge number.

Posting it only because it is about car. No offense please.

re: Review: 2nd-gen Maruti WagonR (2010)

Drove the wagon R from July 2009 to December 21, 2018.

Never had an engine problem the only issue that came up during the entire time was the fan belt squeak noise on the ninth year.

I had driven it for about 52,500 Kms.

The highest road it took was Darjeeling Kalimpong Gangtok route.

It's a great car for city roads and would recommend it for the same.

But on highways specially curves it's not a fun or safe car to drive in speed and due to narrow interior space the legs and body feels the strain.

So okay for city drive, not okay for highways and long journey s from my experience of driving it for nine years almost.

I agree in toto. Not a highway car, especially a curvy highway. It is unstable at triple digit speeds and sways with cross-winds.

But a great car for city-driving. Speaking with 17+ years of owning one.

re: Review: 2nd-gen Maruti WagonR (2010)

For the past few months, I am getting a squeaking sound from the driver side of the engine bay. This sound is heard only for the first few kms of the days, probably when the engine is cold and always disappears thereafter. It is produced whenever the car jerks/vibrates (due to bad road or when releasing the clutch) or when I accelerate hard.

The car has done 72.5k kms till date. Apart from routine oil changes, I have changed the brake pads, lower arms and rear shock absorbers. I am suspecting some belts but don't know which one. Any one faced similar issue?
