Hi,

Thanks for the answer, I know HUD is impossible but if you say Navigation is possible with TV Units, then Yes, the 530d does have a large screen with TV function and an inbuilt HDD.

Have tried to get information from BMW India but no reply yet, will update this post when I have some concrete information.

Regards,
Is yours an F10 or E60? PM me the chassis number and I will get you an answer.

Re: BMW 525d : Test Drive & Review

Don't know if this is the right place this to post this, mods please move to relevant thread if necessary.

Saw some awesome BBS alloys on a 525d here in Chennai. I thought it really looked good on the car. Check them out.

Sorry for the poor quality pics, took them on the move.

Re: BMW 525d : Test Drive & Review

2011 updates for the new 5 series are as follows,

1. No changes on the 520d.

2. 525d will now get Rear Seat Entertainment Package.

3. 530d will now have HUD and Navigation and Rear View Camera.

No new alloy wheels as most designs are 18+ sizes and BMW India thinks 17 is the best size in terms of balance for Indian roads combined with RFT's

Whats the change in prices for the 525d and 530d? And does the 525d get the wider 10" iDrive display with the rear seat package?

EP.,
The price rise is quite nominal, about 1-2 lac depending on the model, I am unsure about the larger front screen but will check and reply, but mostly it should have it due to RSE.

Regards,

Re: BMW 525d : Test Drive & Review

The rear screens in the 525d will certainly help increase demand and narrow the gap with the 530d even more. Which isnt a good thing as the 530d seems even lesser value right now.I am sure the rear screens pushed several buyers towards it before.

The E-class will follow suit. But what I am waiting to see if how Audi will react to this, they would look to raise the bar with the new A6. Moreover even Jaguar will try and do the same with the facelifted XF due soon.

Re: BMW 525d : Test Drive & Review

Sahil,

530d will also increase equipment which includes, HUD / Navigation and Rear View cameras.

+ 530d always had a better steering wheel with paddle shifts, and the damper control + Better screen on the front dash, which I assume will also now be bigger on 525d but will check and confirm.

Infact now I think 520d buyers should spend a little more and get the 525d.

Regards,

Re: BMW 525d : Test Drive & Review

Sorry for double posting but since I could not edit the previous post, just saw the new 525d and the screen on the front dash is a small screen, I also noticed the gear stick lever is not as nice as my 530d stick, also the steering wheel quality felt low.

Someone told me that the run flats on this model are optional and you can regular wheels with a spare. Is this true? I find that a little hard to believe. Is there a change since this TD was done perhaps?

Personally, if run flats becoming optional on BMW I'm sure lots of people would be very happy.

Re: BMW 525d : Test Drive & Review

BMW has changed the 525d's engine in some markets, India may get the newer engine soon. A 4 cylinder Twin Turbo engine(just like E250 CDI) will replace the current 6 cylinder engine.

Re: BMW 525d : Test Drive & Review

.Andhuman,
What engine block is that would you have more details? Also what markets have already got it? Reason being the german domestic 525d still uses the 3.0L block?

Isn't the current engine a 6 cylinder twin turbo (diesel)?
