Definitely. The way that the turbo is tuned isn't really ideal for bumper to bumper urban runs.

Does the diesel have drive by wire or is it cable operated? |
Yup. The way that the throttle felt, I'm pretty sure its a drive-by-wire.

Don't think so. Not everyone has a brand like Toyota that can pull it off.

This car should return much better FE that all its competitors(cruze owners in General get a meager 9 in the city). |
True. An immensely practical car.

excellent effort GTO! I know it takes a lot of time and effort to make time for doing comprehensive reviews for people whose primary profession is not related to the Automobile industry

If you go by bang for the buck, yes. For enthusiasts like us, there's always the Cruze.

I'm surprised too. Plus, lets not forget that the petrol is a 1.8 130 BHP unit, while the diesel is only 1.4 L / 87 BHP on tap. The differential value is definitely strong with the petrol.

Steep slope? I'd expect generous clutch slipping. We've seen that with most other diesel cars in the market that suffer from lag (Manza, Cruze etc.).

LOL! I'm sure a BHPian is going to post a report on a power-box'ed Altis D-4D sooner rather than later.

There will certainly be some cross-shopping between the Innova and the Altis. The Innova is versatile and can do a lot more. However, the Altis is a proper sedan for those who don't need an MUV. Plus, those concerned with running costs will choose the Altis for its stupendous fuel efficiency.

Not really. As I mentioned in my review, I don't see the "Fortuner effect" for the Altis. Primary reason being : It's got some great competition, including the segments below, as well as above.

Yup. Even the Innova comes with 3 year / 100,000 kms coverage.
