Skoda Yeti - Tips, Tricks and Hidden features

Hello Yetians, I am starting this thread to discuss all the things possible (and work-around impossible ones) on Skoda Yeti for the benefit of all owners and other fans.

Let me start with a few:

The windscreen wipers put up a slight jump whenever the ignition is turned off. What I thought was an annoyance and bug, is actually a feature i.e., wipers going into a park mode and that supposedly stop it from sticking to the wind screen. (I guess we don't have to follow others in standing up the wipers when the car is park in hot sun)

The two set of keys is tied to each own MDI settings. This means, if there are two persons each with the key of the Yeti, and if any person does the MDI settings of his/her choice, like activating the DRL, the configurations are memorized to that specific key. So, each of the driver would get their own preferences as per the key they have. This is like a computer shared by multiple users and cookies being saved on local registry hive to retain preferences and information about the currently logged user.

Yetians, keep the tricks pouring in

Re: Skoda Yeti - Tips, Tricks and Hidden features

Cornering Fog Lights This works both if you turn the indicator ON or steer to a certain angle. This is also speed sensitive and will work only with speed below 40 kms.

Rain Sensing wiper The sensitiveness of wiper can be adjusted by a small switch on top of wiper control.

Auto close and Auto Open These are option in MID to enable/disable automatic door close and open. Door close is speed sensing auto close. Not sure about Auto Open

Any idea on what's the DRL setting on MID control? IS this for Daytime running lamp? Is it available in elegance model here in india?

yup its for daytime running lights and is enabled only on the elegance although it can be enabled in lower variants as well.
this basically switches on the upper half portion of the fogs which act like the DRL's.

Yes, I had enabled it! It goes off if you switch the parking or headlight on. Drivers ahead of me tend to get me way thinking I am on some kind of emergency. It looks cool too!

Re: Skoda Yeti : Review, Price & Pictures

Hi,

I just took delivery of my elegence 4x4 white Yeti today evening.
Driving back in the evening traffic jam was a pain, stalled it 3 times then realized keeping rpm around 900-1000 solves the problem. fiddled with the MFD and noticed DRL's (very pleasantly suprised) and activated it's yellow light, I prefer white though. also changed l/km to km/l.

i will swap OEM tyres tomorrow for Apollo.
Love the finish....will update with pics soon...

cheers

Re: Skoda Yeti : Review, Price & Pictures

I don't remember who it was but i guess someone posted about adjusting the throw of fog lamps in yeti. How can we do that? I want the throw to be little forward so that it can better act as low beam

Re: Skoda Yeti : Review, Price & Pictures

Yo, My Yeti came home yesterday evening.

Things I did to my Yeti today morning (which I always do with a new car)

1.Changed Tyres to apollo 225 60 16
2. Headlight bulbs to Osram Night breakers 60/55 ,supposed to get 35m more throw
3. while at my friends shop he showed me original Yeti/Tiguan ORVM with turn Indicators ( looks super cool plus added saftey as yeti does not have a side turn indicator on the front fender)
4. LED DRL...didnt really need but cudnt resist after he fitted it to show me.
5.3D Kagu matts..awesome worth every penny.

While changing tyres I decided to have look at the under body .
1. I was shocked to see on the lower body rusted just in front of the rear right tyre.
2. opened the bonnet to see that the Black dampening material had some white Fluid markings ( guess its from the battery) which is going to reduce the life of the Dampening Material.

Let me upload the phone pics . Oh btw I am a professional Photographer
1. Yeti
2.underbody rust or damage
3.DRL
4.Tyre
will do the ORVM Indicator in the next post ( i am yet to shoot)

cheers guys.

Re: Skoda Yeti : Review, Price & Pictures

Worried about that rust. Nothing can ever replace the factory-applied-and-baked paint layers and protective covering, and if that is breached on day 1?

1. by what is conveyed to my eyes, from the photo it looks as though its weld other than at the factory / underbody damage in the course of transport / unloading that hasnt been attended to. you need to send the vehicle up on a ramp and get it checked by an expert

2. batteries now a days are sealed / maintenance free batteries. so i doubt if there is battery fluid leakage

3. Please Put up Pics of the Tiguan Indicators

4. 225/60/16 - Stock Yeti Tyres are 215/60/16 - dont you feel that this gives Skoda a reason to create warranty issues ? it would have been a better option to keep the Stock Size during the upgrade IMHO

Re: Skoda Yeti : Review, Price & Pictures

DRL's looks cool. How was it installed? And yes rusting from day 1 is cause of worry. Please escalate to skoda.

How are osram bulbs compared to stock one? Any initial feedback?
