Bhasin motors are having the two ventos for the past one week, I saw the one in silver which was parked outside the showroom and both the cars are covered. The vento to buy is undoubtedly the diesel. City is still an overall better all round package in petrol, despite the high asking price.

I also saw the car it was on show in Shimla.

The car is smaller than i had imagined, sitting behind the wheel gives you that polo feel. The Rear A/C has single vent but 2 splits. The high end had a dead pedal dont know about the low end.

The cabin space is good enough less than say a cruze. Sturdy bumper did not flex a lot after i tried pushing it in. I liked the ACC unit and also the engine seemed to sound great "sadly could not take a test drive :("

What's there in Vento HL but not there in Polo HL (other than mentioned above)

1. Wider front arm-rest with a small storage area tucked in

2. Center back rest in the rear opens up as an arm rest

3. Reading lights for each passenger in the rear

What's there in Polo HL and not in Vento HL

1. 60 - 40 folding rear seats in Polo - the Vento seats do not fold.

Cheers,

Agreed that the cabin space is smaller in size for the fiesta but shouldn't we look at things from a users / buyers perspective rather than a standard maintained by most magazines. There is always cross segment sales in the Indian car market and the fiesta should have been included as the price bands are similar.

Thanks dillsoft. I guess you can also add that silly handle for the front pass seat fore-aft movement. Plus more legroom in the back on the Vento. Are the seats themselves better support/fabric or are they the same.

Right now trying to decide between Polo and Vento.

Also, I trust the ACI's figure of 10.5 secs for ANHC.
The timings for Diesel Vento should be 11Sec or even less.Kindly see posts 115,157,191 & 199 of this thread to find the reason for this fantastic performance by Vento Diesel. Thus the real acceleration figures of Vento Diesel, ought to be shaved off by more than 1 sec.

^^ Did you notice the difference in Petrol vs Diesel in-gear acceleration times? 0-100 time of 11.3secs(D) is similar to the Verna CRDi's figure of 11.23secs.

Any idea about Vento's ARAI FE figures?

Isn't the average much less than what was discussed earlier?.

BTW, dealer here confirmed that test car will be available later this week/early next week.

I'm seeing contradicting reports about presence of dead pedal. Can someone confirm if the Vento HL has a dead pedal.

ARAI figures:
  • 14.4 (AT) petrol
  • 15.8 (MT) petrol
  • 20.5 (MT) diesel
None of the variants has any dead pedal, USB/ AUX-in or steering mounted audio controls.

1) Are these average figures? What is the city + highway percentages?

2) What percentage of deviation do we generally expect from ARAI figures?

Following ARAI figures may be of interest for some of us for comparison:

ANHC - 16.5
Fiesta Diesel - 19.7
Verna Diesel - 21.9

Thanks

A 12 second difference!Are you sure the 40-100 for petrol is 22.61 or 12.61?

Stunning performance! Install a diesel tuning box and you are realistically looking at a sub 10 second 0-100 time. I'd also mentioned how the negligible turbo lag will result in excellent fuel efficiency.

Thanks for sharing these Sid.

My comments are based on the buyers perspective only. The Fiesta's price, cabin space and equipment levels are comparable to the 6 lakh rupee segment now. Fact is, the Fiesta feels old....in the 6 years since its launch, the game has moved on. All of its competitors are fresher designs.

The rpm for the petrol Vento at 100 kph sounds too low. I would expect it to be higher considering that the diesel runs at 2400 rpm at the same speed.
