| ![]() Hello bhpians. Need some inputs here. Please contribute some details about good, genuine petrol pumps in Kolkata. Here's a few from my side(Both are in salt Lake): 1) Block-DD, Salt Lake, Opposite City Centre. Beside Jubilee House. I have heard very good things about this pump. 2) Block-IA, Salt Lake, Opposite Salt Lake Stadium and Mukesh Hyundai Advantage Point. Beside Momo Hut. So people from Kolkata please pour in some information for the convenience of calcuttans, ![]() |

Distinguished - BHPian ![]() ![]() | ![]() For many years, I stuck to using the COCO HP pump at the crossing of Theatre Road and Lower Circular Road (as the roads were called then). The last time I filled from them (a year ago), the quality was good but I suppose I went at the wrong time, so the queue was interminable. |

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() HP 'company outlet' beside Millennium City at Sector V. Small place but seems to be good. I don't think they stock Power. Have used normal unleaded from them for 2+ years. No issues. |

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() I used to fill up from Giani Service station on Jessore Rd, near Bankra. Didn't face any problem regarding shortchanging etc. Used both cash/card. |

| ![]() My experience has also been good at these: Council service station (HP), Alipore (before majerhat bridge if coming from north) Friends auto -HP (BT road, sinthee more) Somehow I felt the BP petrol pump near the wipro flyover isnt good (I got lower mileage long back, stopped since then) anyone had a similar experience? I always had a penchant for HP rather than IOCL or BP, the car 'drives' better. |

BHPian ![]() | ![]() I regularly use the petrol pump near drive inn snack bar in alipore. No problems till date. Plus one of the few pumps which stock 97 octane. |

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() I do not really know how one judges the quality of petrol or the pump. Is it from the look and feel? Or is it from some particular experience? I used to take petrol from Engineers on Gurusaday Road for several years. But once I changed to India Trading at the crossing of Lee Road and AJC Bose Road there is a 10-15 per cent improvement in my fuel efficiency. This leads me to believe that there is some quantitative difference between the two ;-) I do not take from Engineers any more, though I must say they look and feel much more professional than any other pump I have dealt with in Calcutta. |

| ![]() THe BP bunk at Ruby Hospital crossing. That is the only place I fill up after having tried quite a few. And yes, the outlet near Wipro in Salt Lake does not serve good quality fuel |

Another one I would recommend: IOC in Kasba, on Ruby Connector (opposite Siemens). I would NOT recommend: - The pump at Ruby crossing (it's either HP or BP, that has a Subway attached). Poor service, fuel quality is suspect - The pump between DLF and Home Town in Rajarhat

Till around 2008 this used to be a COCO (the bill said so), till Jan this year the bills I have reads "PaulMech Infrastructure", but the last bill, if I remember correctly, reads "Bypass Services". I am confused about who owns this pump. ![]() However I am a regular at the DD Block IOC, and occassionally go to the IOC at Bosepukur. Comparatively I find the Bosepukur fuel giving me higher FE. I absolutely agree on the Rajarhat pump. They are a bunch of thieves. Apart from fuel quantity they also mess up tyre repairs. My colleague recently got ripped off when he had a puncture in New Town and went to this pump for repairs. They literally destroyed his tubeless by punching new holes alongside the existing puncture . Last edited by sadnabrina : 10th May 2011 at 17:16.
