My Polo is now 6 years old and the exterior and interior has been maintained by me over the past years. I have a decent cleaning kit bought by reading through the different forum posts in Team-Bhp. The kit consists of Sonax shampoo, wash mitt, large pack of micro fibre cloth from Amazon, Meguiars Polish liquid (used very sparingly) , Clay bar (used very sparingly) , Sonax windscreen cleaner, Turtle wax, 3M foam for interior and the Jopasu duster.

The car is well kept but has water spots on the glass, swirls, micro scratches, bike handle encounters on the mirror casing and dirt in between the Volkswagen lettering. In my opinion only a Team-Bhpian will notice these imperfections

I did not want to go the VW service option since the last time I inquired with a 3M "expert" there, he said that the dirt in between the lettering will stay and I have to repaint the whole hatch There was another the 3M authorized center, but somehow I wanted a personal touch to it.

Finally my search ended with Florence Car Care, owned by Mr. Dilip. I observed a couple of ceramic coating works done by his team on my friends Creta and Hexa. It struck to me how deeply he was involved with each car. No matter it was an Audi or a Swift he would personally be involved in the process. That was very important as far as I was concerned. The pricing was also realistic.

I handed over my Polo to him for a normal detailing. I did not want to do a ceramic coat since I guess that would be an overkill for my 6 year old car. Went to pick up the car after 2 days and I was extremely delighted with what I saw

Mr. Dilip gave me some tips on future maintenance. The first tip was to use the shampoo as little as possible since that rips away the wax. Normal dust is to be washed off with plain water. Use a wash mitt if necessary. And then dry out using a micro fiber to prevent the water marks. He suggested that the shampoo be used only if there was hard dirt that doesn't go with a plain water wash. Use a good quality wax to keep the shine. He was against using Jopasu duster since that can cause micro scratches.

Hi kutts,

I believe credit for this shining car should go to you. Maintaining and cleaning ourselves makes a lot of difference in the long run. If car is not abused with daily wash then a simple detailing job on the clear coat layer with bring back shine even on an old car.
