Re: Nitrogen Filling Stations-Hyderabad

It would be nice if someone updated the time till which the nitro filing pumps are open.

I know for sure that the BP bunk near J Hills Check Post is open 24 hours. In case you find the attendant sleeping, you can wake him up. We did that at 6 am on our way to Shirdi last month. He charges Rs 10 per tyre for a refill.

Ashoka Wheels on Minister Road charges Rs 5 per tyre for a refill, but is not open in the night.

IOC bunk near old airport flyover is open till 10 pm, per Avi's post above.

Did anyone use this pump recently? Any idea if they still provide Nitrogen filling and the rates for the same?

Any reviews about the above? Has anyone used the above mentioned place recently? What are the rates for filling nitrogen?

Just went to the HP pump near BHEL to fill nitrogen. They charge Rs.50 for top up. They have a second option of 200 for 6 months with unlimited top ups.

Thanks for the information. I will be going to this pump on Wednesday and opt for the second option. That seems to be a good option.

I'm still confused about the second option, though I too took it for one of my cars to monitor how it fares in the next 6 months. I'll either switch to Rs. 50 per visit in case it lasts or switch to normal air after 6 months.

If we fill nitrogen every 1.5 months paying Rs. 50, we'll end paying the same 200. If we need to fill nitrogen more frequently than that, it is not so different from air since more frequent pressure loss without leaks indicates a nitrogen dispenser unit that is not as pure as it should be.

My diesel Swift with Nitrogen used to lose 1-2 psi in a month when in Trivandrum. We used to top up nitrogen only once in 3 months and found the pressure to be 2-3 lower that what we set. The only reason I was filling nitrogen was that we need not worry about frequently checking the tyre pressure. If the filling stations in Hyderabad cannot guarantee 1.5 months for something they charge Rs. 50, we should be better off with the free air rather than paying through the roof for nitrogen.

That was some good reasoning brother. I had decided for the second option when you said "Top-up". Right now the car is running on normal air. So, the attendant has to deflate the normal air and fill in the nitrogen. Does this process also cost only 50 R.S?

Sorry for the confusion about TOP- UP.

I'm not sure of the cost for deflating and refilling since both cars are already on nitrogen. I'll ask them the next time I go there.

The COCO pump in Hitec City charges Rs. 40 for deflating and then filling with nitrogen. For top-up, they charge Rs. 20.

Just for comparison with rates in Kerala, I've paid Rs.50 per tyre for changing from normal air to nitrogen and Rs.10 per tyre for top-up.

Sorry for the confusion I have created for myself. Are the figures mentioned above (Rs.40 & Rs. 20), per tyre or for a set of 4 tyres?

40 and 20 are for all tyres.
