Great work shreeram. I was going through the entire thread today and you posted an update. Good to see this rare breed in nice hands. All the best with the paint job.

I am eagerly waiting to see the final product.

Thought I saw your vehicle! I spotted a PTV with two P's inside on Saturday morning near Tilak Road. It was, IIRC, also red and white. A senior gent was driving (very carefully) with a young man as his passenger. Couldn't note the number as the traffic was crazy.

Cheers,
Rahul

The Ptv is Home from paint. Now will start assembling the Chromed parts and the painted parts like the rear door, the air vent doors, the Windshield Glasses etc.

Keep it coming man. Would love to see such a rarity coming back fully done. Hope you painted it inside out and not just the exteriors. Good work.

Shreeram, just a thought: What would you think of highlighting the stampings on the body panels by fine white pinstripes? Or extending the white downwards from the roof till the windows, like the PTV from BSM article? The red will probably be offset by the addition of the mudguards, bumper etc, but right now it looks a bit too overpowering, needs some contrast IMHO.
Just a thought. Hope it doesn't offend.

Cheers,
Rahul

THANK YOU, yes ofcourse the ptv is painted insides as well. With black matt finish, the dash will be white in colour like the top. Deciding on the upholstry colour.

Basically i dint want to make my ptv of the same combination like the other one, so the white on the c pillar was cancelled and also i personally dint like it. However I tried making the stampings and mudguards white but i was not happy the way it looks, thought it was looking funny so got them done in red too. But yes just pinstriping the stampings will be a good idea i guess, will try it out. BTW the rims will be painted white to offset the red a little.
And no there is no way to get offended suggestions are always welcome. Once the glass is on with the black biddings, the chromed headlaps, indicators and other fittings the red will be offset quite a bit.

On another note, we were actually thinking of featuring both the Pune PTV's together in the Bsm January Article, I tried to complete it but the time was too short 10 days for me to complete it and do it right and not to compromise on the work quality. It would have been a nice article with both Ptvs featured. Anyways next time maybe with all 3 Ptvs from India

Re: A Rare Find - My Bajaj PTV (Peoples / Private Transport Vehicle)

Nice to see such a long lost PTV under restoration Shreeram. Congrats for your rare acquisition. This vehicle is surely a rare discovery.
Still today many might not be knowing or would have forgotten such a vehicle existed in our market. I am eagerly waiting for more restoration updates of the PTV. Waiting to know more...
Meanwhile as you had quoted there are three of these in Pune. Please pardon me if I had mistaken, but recently I happened to find one more PTV in Pune. I don't know whether it is in fully running condition. Here's the pic of the PTV.
Sorry for the bad quality pic....
