The fire wall and front end :
The metal replacement work is really commendable, matching those pattern and lines is not an easy task. Great effort & am sure the use of metal paste/filler will be minimalistic.
What I really admire is the almost seamless welds and joints. In other restoration threads you can see beads of weld along the line but here they are being ground out and evened up which is how it should be done.

Totally agree with you, Wasif! Capt. Chauhan's restoration works are a joy, amidst all the ordinary work going on in some of the other threads. I am however, a little surprised with the little, very slight, departure from excellence showing in one frame amongst the last set of pics, as marked and attached herewith. Here, the tinker has missed a trick on not just the finesse of the weld, but also the joint-line. Maybe, it'll be corrected, although leaving it as such may not have any ramification other than irking a cranky mind like mine, knowing something at the back is askew!!
@Chauhan sahab, please don't misconstrue it as anything but a desire to partake, and revel in your admirable endeavours. Like you, even I'm fastidious about complete adherence to everything as it was when a vehicle came out of the factory, even on a panel hidden from open view. Which is why, I write on your thread; also because I truly enjoy your automotive knowledge, passion and good prose!!
Regards,
P
I am sure that panel was prok in progress when pictures were taken and will get the same quality treatment in due course.

Prabal ,
Thank you for your kind comments .
The purpose for starting the thread was (quote) "a critical appraisal of the restoration" ; a " stitch in time .... " - thank you for pointing out the defect, will resolve it tomorrow morning.
& keep the comments coming .
Expect to complete the body work by mid- June and then remove the body to work on the chassis , engine , differential and suspension -
I will be posting the complete restoration process for this car , the members on the forum and we ( Perak & I ) will get an acceptable job done finally.
Regards
Chauhan

Hello CAC444 ,
Thankyou . I am again out so the work on the Buick is at a standstill.

Hello Autocrat ,
Thank you for dusting and reviving the thread , due to a family tragedy it has been a case of heart willing but the spirit unwilling.
Will get on with the task in the near future , but the PE , W 111 and the Clipper before this one.

Chauhan

Dear vintageman,
Wish you all the strength to over come the family tragedy.
When you think the time is appropriate please post pictures of the PE restoration. I am yet to see another PE in this forum or otherwise in India
