Disintegrate is too strong a word - it breaks my heart. Showing evidence of decline = degenerate, was much better )

But from pictures it looks much worse than that!! :(

You still have time until end of the year so no worries on 'timeline'

re: The country's first CAL Look Baywindow Bus Restoration

Found few options for 3rd brake light and reverse lights.

Bumper mounted like Pavan's Beetle.

Could use this as reverse with a clear lens.

This is another choice for colour

Hi Nilesh , dont think you can get a better color than this split bus.
this guy has even put the indicator lights in rear each corner window.
andextra stop light in the rear window. This is also a Brazilian 15 window not German. The last pic is just a 11 window kombi, but sprayed the same color.

Nilesh,

We will go ahead with the pic posted by Dave

Looks very nice like that, also the one you've posted with reverse lights over the bumpers.

Metal sheet replacement work almost in its completion stage, will post the pics soon.

re: The country's first CAL Look Baywindow Bus Restoration

Now for the usual updates.

Its been 2 weeks since the work on the rear portion of the Kombi has started, though the tinker is working only 2 hours daily, he's finding it tough to put back the panels to its actual shape. End of the day, i am sure he will pull it off, as he's damn good at metal replacement .

The biggest problem that we faced today was with the rear hatch hinges. Its another horror story, now it needs to be seen, if the hinges come off those rotten body metal, if not, need to search around for a replacement. The whole area where the rear hatch sits is literally missing / rotten.

The pics looks disturbing, but thats the way it is. Also before anyone jumps at me with the replaced panels, It will be scrubbed and we will spray the epoxy primer once the tinker moves from that area, as of now, the tinker is working to get the rear panels to its perfection.

Thanks Dave, that looks really nice. I saw similar split at Volksworld and liked it. Add's to the confusion!! However wifey's pretty much stuck on "See Blau 2" so I need to put together a convincing case.

Thanks for the pics Pavan!! The tinker is doing a awesome job but the rust has me really worried :(

Color is too far away right now, Nilesh. Yes the tinker is giving his best.

By the way he's going right now, I can see him finish the sheet metal job in the next 5 days.

So many gadgets

You must be happy, the Bus has minimal of electrical & Mechanical components.

After a long hiatus, work has begun on the Kombi, Focus on getting the shell to be RUST-FREE. The only thing that can aid this is EPOXY PRIMER, got almost 10 litres to spray inside-out.

Some info about the effectiveness of Epoxy Primer.

Good news Pavan, look forward to seeing the new updates. The EPOXY PRIMER will help to a good extent on nileshdias Bus.

True Dave, Epoxy Primer must help arrest rusting, An expensive material to use, but its worth every litre.

Total of 8 litres of Epoxy Primer used

Right on time for the update Nilesh.

There has been few more places where rusting has been bad, that is now almost done.

Body tapping has started, one panel at a time, scrape down to bare metal once again and spray Epoxy Primer before starting Body filler job.

Hi Anna,

Nice to see all the work taking shape.
