You can contact Darryl on 9821047448 for the WW inserts. I will surely see to it that your cars get the white walls. Someone is travelling to your city soon. He can carry them for you.

Re: Vinty with White Walls!

Wow, nice Pics Praveen!

What kind of paint is it? I mean, is it specific paint that can be use on rubber?

Lets have a mini breakfast meet early Feb. Game for it?

Re: Vinty with White Walls!

Hi Karthik,

Thanks.

This is a rubber-based paint specifically for application on tyres. Pankaj (Jalopy Shop) sells tins of this paint.

I'm game for a breakfast meet!

Praveen

Hi Praveen,

Glad you were able to find and try out the paint even though it was out of stock with me!

While the whitewalls look great, I'd suggest an additional coat of the paint to get the rich creamy colour found on original whitewall tyres. The edges can be cleaned up, and any stray brush strokes outside the boundary can be very carefully scored off with a pen knife. Here's a sample pic of how the colour can benefit with another coat of paint.

Praveen, great to see the white wall, and sorry that I did not gave you the contact details of Pankaj, but glad you got it.

This stuff is awesome. I would suggest while giving a paint why not use a masking tape, sad that the markings on the side wallcome in way of the shear beauty of the paint. Kudos to Pankaj for making this available.

No problem, Manish. I got the contact from Voyager.

Actually, the painting was done WITH masking tape. Its a very shoddy job by the painter.

As Pankaj has suggested below, I will give it another coat and this time make sure that a neat job is done.

Hi Pankaj,

Voyager was kind enough to lend me the 2 cans of paint that he had! I still need to buy two cans from you and hand it back to him with thanks So, please let me know when the paint becomes available.

Yes, I will get another coat of paint done and the stray strokes cleaned up!

Cheers and big time kudos to you for making the paint available to all of us.

Praveen

@Praveen: Lets meet this saturday or a day before to appreciate this fabulous job.

@Pankaj: Even I would need around 2 cans to paint the wheels on my car.

Re: Restoration of "Vinty", a 1960 Fiat Select 1100!

Dear Praveen - WOW, the wheels look great. This means that there is an alternative to searching for whitewall tires and getting frustrated. The car looks super cool too! Now please preserve it in the same condition - FOREVER!

Best regards,

Praveen, the results are amazing! The car looks great with white walls! I had done a similar experiment with PVC ink (used for screen printing) back in November 2010. The scape goat was my scooter's spare tyre, a Ceat Secura 3.50 x 8. The results were not too good. I had read about rubber paints then but I did not experiment again due to personal commitments. Looking at your results, I can't wait to try it again with a rubber based paint. Here is a link to the experiment that I had tried.

White Wall Experiment

Regards and Keep Revving,

Rahul Waghmare.

Hey Praveen

Awesome work, awesome snaps.
The whitewall paint is the discovery of the decade, for us !! Vinty's looking real good, and so's your bike.

Happy motoring..

Re: Restoration of "Vinty", a 1960 Fiat Select 1100!

Hi Praveen,
I have been reading your posts with great joy..It is a wonderful end product that you have, which shows your passion and perseverance. I wanted to know where is LCK garage? Is it on Lalbagh road? Where exactly? Also your car is pictured next to MYX 2331 in couple of places. I have seen that car couple of times. It is just mind blowing..Was it also done at LCK? Your help is appreciated as i too have a Fiat (Padmini) and want to get some work done in a good place.
Cheers
